I was snooping through my outbox and realized that some people have been on since I wrote them, yet the message shows unread and they did not show up in WVM. So I am thinking they just dumped them. Granted I understand that no answer is still an answer. That got me wondering about all of it so I figured id toss out a poll.

fishinandshootin: I can see all the above as an issue, I suppose being new to the forums I missed other posts about it. Typical though a few idiots ruining for everyone else. Sad to say the least.
Right back attcha on the profile.. another smile to pack around in my day.
Well, I think the trick is finding a way of using the site that works for you.
For me that's to do with socialising, discussing things, learning, having a laugh and chatting with friends. If other things come of it, then that's a whopping great bonus.
Singlelisious: Scammers, block and delete. People I know from the forums, I read and answer, others delete, my profile reads NOT LOOKING.
NOT LOOKING? Ehhh... what are you trying to say? You know that is two words ad one of them is kinda big. Maybe NOT LOOKING means you don't want to look, you just want to wait for them to come to you. I don't know honestly... I am grasping at straws to how a person could see NOT LOOKING as anything other than NOT LOOKING.

I do read all my mail, those that are clearly scammers get deleted and blocked immediately while those that seem to be genuine will get a reply from me. If they have taken the time to message me the least I can do is take the time to thank them.
I've been fortunate so far to have only had a couple of nasty emails, and those just get deleted and blocked.

It seems like the scammers only hit me once, I have yet to have one have a second go if I did not reply to the first message. As women do the individual scammers hit you with more than one attempt at your attention?
Im thinking that there may be a different tactic when attempting to scam a female as opposed to scamming a male.

Nope only once, unless of course they use a different profile. I usually get how I look like an angel and a god-fearing woman - and other ridiculous nonsense like that. I guess they think we women are desperate for compliments.

I'll read each message and the obvious scammer mail gets deleted. Most of my mail are from scammers and the occassional crude note from others which also get deleted. Email from people I know from the forums gets a reply.

I love the crude ones...when you gonna send me the next one
yeah, pretty much the same for guys, I like your pictures or hey handsome. then they say they are an angel and god fearing. maybe they ask eachother " what did you say to Diz? Oh ok... say that to him."

I have yet to get a crude one. No one has been rude to me on here come to think of it.
I am sure that now that Ive mentioned it I will probably get a "burn in hell cause Allah told god you were a sinner and you don't love me for real" note

Scammers are a sad lot. It's usually a group of men stuck in a room where they're on the computers for 14-16 hours at a stretch. Most even sleep in the same room. Cyber sweatshops springing up all over Nigeria, China and a few other such places. Desperate people forced to do this 'work' to feed their families. We live in a cruel world.

I think if someone's taken the time to write an interesting message it deserves a reply, not so much if they just write "Hi there"
The trouble is, the scammers copy messages from "real" people, so the first message or two may sound genuine and match the profile, then the next gives the game away.
Some get quite annoyed if you don't respond, that shows a flaw in their nature that they fee they own you after a message or two, and one came back aggressively with a nasty email when I said I didn't think we were compatible, but hey - better to find that out here rather than if you met up...
I usually answer to all of them even if its with a thanks for.....visiting.... ,but I hate when they don't reply back when you actually spot the mail coming throw and you answer straight forward. That's what I always say .....maybe I'm wrong..but for a chat tete au tete its the full instant messaging service for me .... ( Facebook ) and I absolutely don't agree with a no answer a still an answer, its like in a coffee bar, you order a black coffee no sugar pls, and you get one with sugar in it...yeah that sounds simple

As much as I agree that saying some kind of reply is courteous, After reading some of the things ladies go through if they take a moment to be polite and say "no thanks" I can understand now why they don't reply. If I had a choice between saying nothing or taking a chance on getting put down for being selective I think I would choose to not reply myself. As I will choose to do things in my replies as I see fit, I can respect why others choose to do it differently.

im very weary of men who mail me, why would they mail a faceless person? after all men are visual creatures and its the picture that attracts them to a profile~

Maybe someone actually read a profile(I know hard to believe) and saw something they liked in your words...

I like the way you ask, take on board new information and adapt.
