A lot of companies are not fond of the idea either. Nowadays, it's not uncommon for a clause to be in the contracts.
It's to maintain a professional and businesslike work environment, not a cattle market for people who couldn't pull the skin off custard, let alone a partner.

In a corporate environment, there are stipulations and rules for everything imaginable. Think of the movie "The Wolf of Wallstreet" Did you see the plethora of unethical events that transpired? Yes, Hollywood contributed a bit...Well similar things are still taking place these days. Of course, not out in the open.
