Why do some want personal emails so fast ya know it? It doesn't make sense to give out when usually I get the most IMPORTANT COUPLE of questions out of the way to see if make BARE BASICS. BUT..if I HAD given out personal emails when I can write on HERE what is THAT for? Brother!
Uhh..screwed up in main question and said personal emails..meant personal email addresses specifically. I don't like giving those addresses out just like that.

You are very wise not to and if they are genuine they will be happy to exchange plenty of messages here first. You could later go on skype, exchange phone numbers, email etc once you feel you can trust them, but the moment they mention needing money remember to away

They ask for your email or provide theirs in the first email it's likely a scammer. Bottom line...be aware and share private email when you feel comfortable to do so.
Scammers harvest emails addresses. Big bucks business. They then sell it to spammers. Meanwhile they also try to collect credit info, name, age, address, phone number, maybe credit card numbers, etc. They will get credit in your name if they can while at the same time telling you hardship stories accompanied by 'our distance doesn't matter, I luv you, but please send 500 to me via Western Union' etc. Whatever info they get of potential value they will sell that also. Giving them a phone number is equally silly in my opinion. #1, again they will sell it as a valid phone number, and also use a reverse directory and sites like scopio or knowx to collect more info, then again either impersonate you to 3rd parties and or sell the info.
My advice? If you haven't met them and verified the name they gave you matches their drivers license (and of course you will also do a criminal history and credit check on them later on Knowx (and they on you too if they have half a brain), then provide no info to a CS suitor.
The LDR exception is when you have encountered them enough, found other sites and established a relationship in multiple arenas. Maybe do a little 3rd party checking, learn where they work and live, confirm they aren't married (or wanted by the law), etc. Then when you know they really are a doctor at such and such hospital in Nairobi and have called them at work and confirmed they are there, then sure, go ahead and give them your email address, but not until you know lots about them and feel comfortable.
I say no to ANYONE (including scammers) who wants my email address right away. if someone really wants to know you, let them take the time to exchange a few messages with you and allow both of you to get to know a little about each other. you can always decide if you want to talk off the site later. scammers want you off the site so there is not a paper trail and it is step one to try to isolate you and gain your trust. but this was a GREAT question....thanks
Gosh what a lot of fuss over nothing, the simplest answer is create a throwaway email account, once you have established the person is genuine, then you can start to give more details, but under no circumstances give out your full name and/or address to someone you have not even seen or met.
Its all very well saying do security checks, but these are not always reliable, plus I would need to have met or at the very least seen via webcam the person in question, before thinking about giving my family name.
Throwaway email addresses are easy to create and you do not have to give personal details to have one, once it starts to get multi spam messages, discard it and get another one.

As for security checks, I have never done one, and never ever shall. My gut feeling is much better, and much cheaper, than any commercial security check on earth.
I use a second e mail address for this site and don't give it out until I feel safe. I check the time differences to see if they are genuine but trust my gut instinct for fake I'd' s and scammers.
My email is NOT for relationship. So who ever asks it, she not wright in her head. I usually after knowing somebody better, I'll go on fb and that's because there is an instant messaging over there .
Bottom line no I never give my email out
NB: I already get spams in my email from all around the world, don't want add CS too.
It clearly states that they are scammers trying trying to build email addresses.
I have now put it on my profile stating that I will not respond to any emails with personal email addresses.
Every email message from here always includes their private email address and cell/phone numbers.
I don't understand why they still continue to do this when I clearly state I am unwilling and against giving out personal info.
I chalk it up that people don't want to be bothered to read profiles, so I can't be bothered to answer them if they wish to correspond through their own email address. Be aware they use the line they are hardly ever on CS site, but they are cause they can only send emails to CS users from this site.
If I get an email and see their email, delete and block...If they asked for my email, delete and block...a lengthy email, delete and block... 99% of those are scammers.

plain and simple - scammers and fakes don't read profiles. they fire off chain letters to a load of women they can't and don't write to me. I have filters on and that block them. all they can do now is to view me

I say, sth like: "Hey, thanks. Maybe I'll use it one day." Some people continued to write at CS, others stopped. One of the initial scammers selection.
I use the email provided only when I think it would make sense. Did wrote back from personal mail at some point. No scammers so far :)
I just send a flower to this girl in my area ( Picardie-France ): she wrote back I am exited to know you . I would like to write to you via email ecc..ecc. I hope I can get your email.

I'm with all you lovely people. I've already been asked twice for my personal contact information and have only been on here a week. Both times I have said no. I don't trust the saying "I'm hardly on CS". Well, if you are on your email, then you can get on CS and email me. I was thinking about getting a throw-away email address, but haven't yet cause I'm still testing the waters. The last guy told me that I'm making it too hard for him..Well, that's just tough.
