Hi im new here, like your thread, makes on think, and in Canada the devil does have a public holiday, Halloween some don't celebrate as many believes its the devils birthday
sirLarryIII: That what i thought too, previous pagan festival taken over by the then emerging christian religion
You are right, as per usual
All so-called Christian feast-days were originally important pre-Christian festivities. The easiest way to win over the people was to keep the same dates. Because they knew people would still celebrate them either way.
Hey we might get a blizzard and then poor Santa won't be able to come with presents,Maybe king will help out . .Nite nite sleep well ,Xmas is a lovely time,
Ho ho ho.
Yes it is a Lovely time , and it's a time when i catch up with family so it has to be a good thing, i find Christmas is more the kids these days ...(not the big ones..~!), but i enjoy the festivity of the season, and the faces of nieces and nephews that light up at the gifts they receive........I'm just happy to receive L.o.v.e

Not sure what God thinks sirLarry, but i don't really think christmas is overrated. Rather, i find it very "artificial" even though i really appreciate the "spirit" behind Christmas. However, i am not sure if Jesus (peace be upon Him) was really born on December 25 as there is no historic evidence to confirm it. Nevertheless, i won't mind "celebrating" christmas as long as it "bestows" upon me a lots and lots of german chocolate cakes and juicy grilled chicken for my bon appetite
Note: i, while living in the USA, used to get frequently invited by the shy and very pretty looking mid-western blond class-mates of mine to enjoy all the good foods during christmas..
