i like scary movies, but not horror. more into suspense. but i don't watch them very often. only if my partner is home and we're watching them together.
If they're good, hell yes. If they're gross, no. Silence of the lambs was about as far down the scary gross road I'm prepared to go. But then I live alone, and when the wind is high, the branches of the tree tap and scratch on my bedroom window ...
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre had been banned for years and then the ban was lifted. When it was showing one night I thought I would see what all the fuss was about, believing that in contrast to the marvellous special effects and CGI that we have nowadays, it would be a little pathetic as it was early 1970s.....
Okay..... the high school student types had run out of fuel and decided to go to a house over a corn field. The credits were still running, the music was getting quite dramatic and sinister. For cripes sake, before they had even got to the piggin' house I bottled it..... ohhh, my God, I've got to switch over!
JEEZ!!
Thank you for for the Wimp of the Year Award, I'd like to thank.....
I guess it depends on what scares you. Jaws was an incredibly suspenseful movie (those yellow barrels popping up), but it was The Exorcist that made me afraid of what's under the bed.
I'll look for Shiver. I haven't seen it. Thanks for the tip.
I haven't seen Texas Chainsaw, but gore is a cheap imitation of good.

I've never been the same in the ocean since Jaws. A bit of seaweed touches me and I'm a'jumpin....
I'm a real wuss went it comes to movies involving blood and guts. The Exorcist and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre....done it for me...argh!
Really enjoy a good psychological thriller. The Jagged Edge starring Glenn Close was a good one.....something with a good storyline that keeps you thinking.
....but chilling horror movies.....NO WAY!...where's the door....

postneoludite: The Jagged Edge. Was that the movie that had audience shouting SHOOT HER?Didn't she also play Cruella de Vil? Pure evil.
SHOOT HER? can't recall that.
All I remember about the Jagged Edge is Glen Close finding an old typewriter in her then partner's wardrobe. She'd been receiving typed death threat notes(the only clue was the typewriter had a faulty letter "t". It had me on the edge of the seat the whole movie....znd as she sat down with the typewriter she typed a sentence, she hesitated for a moment, shaking.... she typed the letter "t"....and you guessed it. The letter "t" was faulty. Her partner was the culprit. She looked up out the window. He was waving to her from the garden.....it was a good movie.
Glen Close.....was the infamous bunny boiler in Fatal Attraction....one of her better movies.
