Dr David Veale said that talking lots of selfies is a symptom of Body Dysmorphic Disorder.
Since the rise of camera phones a compulsion to repeatedly take and post selfies on social media sites has grown, experts have linked selfies with mental illness and have suggested that people regularly searching for the perfect angle from which to portray themselves could in some cases be ill.

nah I dont think so, those that steal selfies of others are mentally ill, and warped, and maybe dr, david needs to out time and money in figuring out the deformaities of the angles within the brain why others, steal peoples selfies.......but then again save a whole of money here, its a result of some people hate showing their true face, so much easier to be someone else, at least than u cant get picked on how ugly one maybe, from their own angles of selfies...

My neice is a teen and they and their friends take selfys often but thankgod my neice although she is beautiful she not botherd if she makes what she calls funny faces where she is not posing dressed up as the teens do to show on facebook,
I think to some to some teens who are insecure about themselves and don't feel they are attractive feel more so when they see glamorous selfys of their peers,
But they would feel that way anyway in life off the Internet.
Mixed bag really some get obsessed about their selfys and never feel secure about themselves anyway,

Nonsense. It could just be a case of narcissism if the person is attractive or low self-esteem. Where did this guy get his phD.. clown college?

There are so many self-serving addictions. How about Karaoke? I've been in the smallest, most remote taverns, etc...where the singers have this air of glazed stardom while performing, and after, as well. It seems to trip their trigger, but they don't go anywhere with it or anything like that. So, it is a temporary "fix", as is these "Selfishs" you mention.
