I saw Mac to sell Iphones, only for the last months, for 18 billions $. Hence my question, as I bought last month a new Sony E1 for 39.90 without contract etc. That's a great android 4.4 smartphone and even after playing poker for hours it only needs a recharge about every two weeks. It also has a big HD screen and is lightweight. I'm very happy and only feel sorry for Mac freaks to spend 800.-$ on a silly Iphone. What you think?

For playing poker: Using poker-pape-cards could be cheaper, maybe one dollar or so.
If a cheap-phone meets your needs, there is not sense to get an expensive one, no matter how many millions of MacFreeks are out there.

Unnerving how the iPhone dominates the market. I'm buying one next week. I've no idea what it does(other than makes calls)and I'm expecting it to be like the Jesus of Nazareth of smartphone technology; very difficult to get into, but once you're in so much to explore. Plus I want to be bang-on trend however briefly.

The company is called Apple, not Mac... #justsaying
My first portable phone was called a transportable, it needed to be plugged into the cigarette lighter of my vehicle and when it rang the horn would honk. LOL I was truly amazed with the new technology. I just switched from owning an Iphone 4s to a Galaxy Note4. Both of these cell phones are awesome and can pretty much take the place of your laptop if needed. The note4 has a larger screen making it easier see and use. Isn't technology amazing.LOL

That seems to be the Apple illusion. Well I really had luck to get a E1 that cheap. Fact is that spending that much doesn't give you a better phone.- Best is to try them in a shop, ask about battery etc.

Yes apple is the right term and I am an apple user but never been sick to have one as long as you have enough extra budget for that then go for it whatever it cost
Nowadays gadgets become affordable in the market though some ultimate laborer in the construction has using iPhone too.
I am not iPhone freak. I always was thinking that the purpose of phone is just to be able to make a calls nothing else. But I have switched to iPhone few years ago, and I am not going to go back for any other phone

lifeisadream: You do find lots of free apps in the apple store as well. Some other apps cost as much as 1 dollar. There are some very interesting for photography: darkcamera, lightcam, activecam and one that ifind funny is the kloni also there is another one, the lovecam.
What ifind outrageous in the apple store is the comision they charge for the apps people sell there. They charge a fee (100 dollars a year) and then a comision ithink it is about 30% and you do have to pay taxes in your land after that!!!

Why would someone want to use a cell phone for taking a picture? Sometimes, weather conditions (like freezing winds) permit not to get the camera out and install it with the proper lens (especially when people get really tired and almost with not oxygen to breathe when climbing) so a fast and easy alternative is just to take the pictures with the cell phone. Sometimes the cell phone screen gets frozen as well that nothing can be seen at that moment but some nice surprises come out later with the pictures.
derda: Ok, I should have written "how computer illiterate one has to be" but I can't change it anymore.
As I've said before. Sorry folks for my bad mood.
@lifeisadream I didn't care about cam as I've already a digital camera, about the same size, with a much higher resolution and zoom lens etc.
I'm very happy with my cheap Sony E1. It does more than I'll ever need. Else I would have gone with the Galaxy Note for the screen size and available apps.
