For Cat lovers everywhere. They r furry, soft and cuddly. The House cat is relatively easy to handle compared with the bigger variety, but they r all beautiful.

Condor009: I think that cats are the most beautiful, graceful and affectionate creatures on this planet. I’ve had as many as 89 at a time when living on a farm, most with first names and ‘tribal names’ aside from some that only lived at the stables or a barn and never were house trained or lounged around the front veranda. Of the 89, 15 were house-trained and enjoyed chasing each other or balls up and down 3 flights of stairs or went to sleep in piles around the living room, especially when chamber music was being played. They loved it... I’ve flown with as many as 5 to Europe and back and have had to have separate passports for each along with medical papers…their names usually set off gales of laughter with all immigration and passport control people, with some in German, French and Russian as well as English. Heathrow Airport was the most bizarre as to transfer fights, a security guard was required for each cat separately…I wasn’t allowed to put all their carriers on a cart and simply walk it one to the waiting plane. Very irrational. Today, for the next few wks, I’m down to one but my son will be dropping his 2 off as he moves to Europe for a year or so to finish school . Petunia will soon meet Toast and Olive….
When I used to live elsewhere I had 16 cats (I miss them all), now only 4 females and a chow dog, also female.
Why do u now have only one? I know u said u r getting 2 from ur son to look after.

Yes, I am definitely more of a cat person than a dog person, but I have a chow (female). She makes a noise when there is someone strange outside the house. Then u know to beware. She is also very cute, fluffy and very pretty. She has a nice personality, soft natured and is my dog. My sons prefer their 2 cats, and I look after all of them.

Ccincy: I'm more of a dog person then I am about cats but I would never intentionally do harm to one.
There are some fero cats and kittens which hang around my place but for the life of me I can't figure out they are able to survive. They are beautiful.
I love all animals, but if I want to be honest I would say that I prefer the common house cat to all, birds included.
The wild ones survive by catching anything they can, mice, rats, birds, anything they can eat. One of our cats has a wild father/mother.
The house cat still catches them but rarely eats them totally. It is normally just a mess with feathers everywhere, or mouse insides lying somewhere u will step into.

Ccincy: I love all animals too.Growing up from a child I can't remember a time when we didn't have some kind of pet.We had ducks, geese, cats, dogs, fish, birds etc.We could've had our own zoo.
I've got a Lab/Husky mix and he's a doll.And yes he is spoiled rotten.
Yes I also spoil my animals (they just get the best money can buy - within limits)
I love cats. One of mine will be 17 soon. Another is 11. The youngest is 7. They follow me like dogs and understand some sentences and many key words like, out, dinner, no, come here, etc.
It truly broke my heart yesterday to learn one of my best friends is allergic to cats and dogs. She has visited here many times and the cats loved her. There was never any indication of the allergy. We even talked about maybe living together. Very sadly yesterday an allergy test not only indicated she is allergic to some fibers (suspected), but also to cats and dogs. She was the best potential I had met in years, but I won't give up the cats, so that is that I guess. :(
Condor009: I miss all my cats, sometimes terribly. I can only hope that those of us that have lost our beloved companions will be very happily be surprised when we cross over. I do hope that St. Francis was right about their souls will greet us. I firmly believe that we and all carbon based life are interconnected as Fritjof Capra elaborated in his books ,starting with the Web Of Life. I’ll assume that you have heard about the recent scientific study on the place of origin of cats by some Dr. in Egypt that took swabs from cats all over Egypt, especially the undomesticated ones in southern Egypt that retained more of their ancient size. I believe it was the U. of Indiana that compared all cat DNA rom the world over and concluded that cats did indeed originate from the areas of ancient Egypt and Sumer, which is what the Sumerian cuneiform tablets have said. Some tablets actually do name the animals that the ancient ‘Gods’ brought to earth after humankind was sufficiently civilized to raise crops and care for animals. Also that ,according to their records, after the Pyramids were built, the Sphinx was created by the ‘God’ that the later Egyptians knew as Ptah, in honour of the ‘great cat’ with, however the face of the Goddess Ninmah,(renamed as Ninti,”Lady of Life”) the co-creator with Enki (Ptah) that created humans. Interesting that Egyptologists never mention the much older Sumerian records… Cats….nothing like them!
I tend to believe the same, just not sure how, or some cases, why?
I just adopted a cat, a cute little furry ball of love. She was abandoned by her previous carer, and brought home by a friend, who is moving to a place where he can't have cats. While I was over visiting, she saw me, and wouldn't leave me alone, stuck to me like glue. So....I took her home a few days later.
A year ago, that's what I wanted, a cat in the house for a companion, and also for keeping the mice down, seeing as I live in what is basically an old warehouse. Well, I got a dog, and not too many regrets, just training issues, but I still wanted a cat. Now I have one of the cuddliest, most friendly, affectionate animals I've ever encountered.
Not sure if it's fair to compare pets, let alone cats, but I'm thinking she'll be as good as my Siamese, Ping, or at least close. She's inquisitive, learns quick, seems to pay attention, and also seems to follow some basic commands. I wish my 13 month old puppy would take lessons from the 4 month old cat.
Anyway, two dogs, one cat....now all I need is a llama and an elephant and I'll have a petting zoo, or a travelling circus.
On second thought, no llamas or elephants please, my hands are full.

I remember u talking about her before, the one that now has the other rocking chair. Sorry to hear that!
My cat of 14+ died 3 yrs ago. I expected it as he was sick his whole life and cost me a fortune in vets bills and meds, which I will spend again.
I will also not have someone that is not cat and dog and all animals friendly, plus lots more. That is why I am still single and most probably will be forever, Not complaining though.

Oh, go for it; Llamas are a bit temperamental, one of my neighbours has several; one loves spitting on people... If I could, I’d love to have a couple of Servals. Knew a Gamekeeper in South Africa that had 4! Such beautiful creatures and when being affectionate, they sound like car engines when purring…very loud.

Condor009: Why strange?? It’s great to find similarities; certainly a lot better than only finding things that keep people apart which is always far easier to do. You’re in South Africa; loved my times there and went there often when on leave from Rhodesia and worked for some of the Sec. Intel. people there but they wouldn’t let me stay after the ops were done…typical: use and dispose…perhaps I really should have joined the BSAP after all! I’m down to one cat as the other wandered off after 14 years…and far too large areas of forest to look. Both cats my daughter had a abandoned like old clothes… sadly she has no real love of animals; they aren’t toys. Be well, Ciao!
Strange because I tend to be the odd one out, with different thoughts and ways to most other people. To find one with just a bit in common is interesting sometimes. My best friend is ex-Rhodesia. He has been in SA ever since.
Yes, I also feed the stray and feral cats and kittens. I agree it is miraculous that they survive in all this cold brutal weather we've been having lately.
I feel bad that they have been abandoned by their owners. I've been taking care of them since January of 2011, when I heard them crying, meowing cause they were freezing and starving during one of the snowstorms. I've been feeding them ever since and some have had kittens. My landlord does not like it, but I have a big heart and can't see anyone starving and hungry, weather it is an animal or human.
Yes, they are beautiful and I have a soft spot in my heart for them.

Thanx on behalf of all the cat lovers. Lots of people don't care for animals. It is nice to find some out there.

Could have used a llama yesterday, had a Jehova's Witness pop over. Although a crocodile, or hyena would have been even better.
If only I had more money and a bigger yard, and maybe a moat.
