I could never understand why someone would want to be either drunk or stoned.
I would rather be sober and know exactly what I'm doing and whom I'm doing it with.

For real though, At this point in my life, Zen. I am totally in to being like all healthy, plus I have kids who are doing great, Now go back forty years, A bong for real though, Drunk. Way dangerous plus, just not my thang. I like champagne at a wedding, a beer on a hot day. It has been decades though. I am all in to being clean, healthy. I have to I am at that age. Too many younger then myself have dropped dead, stress ,heart attacks. OIE !

There is a nice clarity in knowing you are not masking your actual feelings and overall being by other chemicals like alcohol or other things. I totally understand the need for some to deal with different issues but if not needed than that is great.

I don't do drugs but if I'm with a friend and my son is at his Dad's I'll be sociable and have a couple of drinks....but rolling drunk...nah.

of course, I was drinking more when I had friends or when I was not isolated. I just don't have a desire to drink alone. And getting sloppy drunk is not so desirable anyway. lol...maybe I might change my mind but I don't think it would be extreme.

It was easier when we were younger....these days, if I have too much to drink, it takes me at least 24 hours to fully recover.
Drinking alone is not much fun. True.

the bit about recovery time is a part of the equation that surely can change the way you feel about the whole party scene. I really never did well without a nice rest before and have always had a need to stay within a certain mach up. But not all, I have known many that just seemed to keep going and had no boundaries. To date there are many of those that are not with us for that very reason. Well, sounds to me that you are in touch with what works and that is the way I feel as well. On that note I know that I often use the term "Cheers" but it is water for me LOL....but the sentiment is there. ;-}

Yep, I carry my water bottle around with me at all times. I swear by it. I carry bottle in a thermal zip up, so, I guess people wonder what I'm knocking back when I'm driving....
