There are a lot of businesses in Cuba already. My feeling is that it's only a matter of time until the big companies push for a relaxed relationship so they can start building big hotels on the beach etc. I hope to go there before that happens. Maybe on my next round-trip... we'll see.

lifeisadream: Should Obama visit Cuba? Thanks in advance and have a lovely weekend!
lifeisadream,, i voted Yes, but not as President, but i think Obama did realize that closing it's ties with Cuba was a great loss for USA, not only for the market, but also for the intellectual and professional supplies that Cuba has,, it's the rest of the countries in the south of America who got the best from Cuba, better late than never, absence of diplomatic ties is depriving respective countries the benefits of a good exchange.
now the issue that Cuban government will face is those properties that were confiscated when Castro took power including American businesses and the Cubans on exile talking about getting back those properties...intresting
We are going to need the Cuban Policia Militare to clear the beaches of those little people and their shanty shacks. Maybe 3 miles back. Then we can build some nice hotels with fenced off private beaches. Also pay by the hour boat slips for the toursit sports fishermen.

I don't see anything wrong with Obama visiting Cuba, or even establishing some sort of diplomatic relationship. I do see a whole lot of problems if the rest of the Yanks follow though. They got rid of the Yanks once, it might be a lot harder to do a second time.

In fairness, not all Americans are Yankies.
Conrad73: better build an 18-Hole Golfcourse too!
Not a problem Comrad
And I do not think Mr.Obama would mind some sugar cane plants around.
