galrads: Seems the Ice skating event has never be the same as when Michelle Kwan, Tara Lipinski, Tonya Harding, Nancy Kerrigan, Kristi Yamaguchi etc. competed.
Used to love watching the ice skating. They were brilliant skaters! The thing with so many sports in the Olympics is it will be hard to keep up with all the ones I like. Oh well, it's a small complaint.
I was an interviewer...at the olypic,s....I tried to interview ,Usain Bolt...while running backwards doing the 100 yard sprint.he never said much..trying to catch his breath i suppose.....

.....and the winner of the swimming in Rio will be the one keeps their mouth shut (to prevent ingesting sewage), avoiding dead bodies, plastic bags, floating appliances and other detritus... AND surviving the numerous pathogens and viruses, including Zika!
sophiasummer: My New Zealand rowing teams is still hard out to win.
Hope no one falls out
Seen a news report this evening on it, the water is disgusting, I am surprised organizers are allowing those events to go ahead considering how nasty the water is.
purr4mance: A gold medalist from Team USA could end up facing a tax bill of $9,900 per gold medal, $5,940 per silver medal, and $3,960 per bronze medal
Not gunna happen mate. Valerie will also bring the gold home.

Two-time Olympic champion (2008, 2012), four-time world champion, and undefeated between August 2010 and July 2016, New Zealander Valerie Adams will be hot favourite in the shot put in Rio.
Brought up by her Tongan mother after her English father had abandoned the family, she took up the shot put aged 13. With her imposing frame (1.93m, 120kg) and impeccable technique, she soon established herself as one of the stars of the discipline.
Adams had a difficult 2015, as injury forced her out of the world championships in Beijing. Rio is her chance to bounce back and make shot put history, by becoming the first woman to win 3 successive Olympic titles.

Maybe bricklaying should be an Olympic sport?
Teams could then compete rebuilding houses
The favela of Vila Autodromo did have around 600 residents but only a handful now remain in the shadow of Rio’s Olympic park.
Delto de Oliveira: "They think we’re visual pollution for the tourists. It’s an insult". Sonny Webster: "They’re knocking down the home I’ve lived in all my life for a two-week event".
minnieme2: I know there are lots more, so if yours is not on the list, sorry and feel free to mention! Athletics includes running, jumping, hurdles, shot putt, discus, i.e all the track and field events so if you have a particular favourite, tell us). I'm looking forward to seeing Usain Bolt and Mo Farrah and hoping Ireland will bring a medal or two home! Fingers x'd!

The men's gymnastics is looking pretty amazing at the moment!
OMG,I just saw on Twitter that poor French guy breaking his leg. Hope he didn't do lasting damage. Can't remember her name but in an athletics competition last year, she broke her hand in a fall. I think it was the Diamond League. A few unfortunate cyclist also today. Hope that's the worst of the injuries for the rest of the Olympics.

I doubt it, generally lots of injuries
I seen the cyclists crashing today, that can seriously hurt. And they were all in the medal positions. Can easy happen in cycling unfortunately.
