Just a simple poll to see where a lot of people stand on an ethical question. Most believe in unconditional love yet others feel there have to be some things one cannot compromise on. So, let's see where this poll stands.

Me personally I would never put conditions on love. I try to always remember that we all want to be accepted without question. But for those who would put conditions on love...I would say most would say they don't want a poor person, someone with disabilities, height, most definitely people place conditions on weight and other things of a physical nature. It's truly sad to hear such things but it does happen. I know I have had many women turn me down base on money and looks. I don't sweat it as it is their loss and they will miss out on someone that would really care about them for the right reasons.

And why can't an adult have that? Just curious to know. Even when you grow up, there is still apart of you that wants to be accepted as is for the right reasons. But I understand each person has their reasons and I can only find pitty as we should all try to evolve past labels, looks and material posessions.

There are conditions attached to most relationships. For example, if you love someone and she cheats on you or beats you, will your conditions be breached and your love for her be damaged or end?

Acceptance is a different thing, without it, there is no relationship

If there are conditions beyond the basic principles of common sense and morality, you can't call it love.

But you put conditions in your profile, age, religion etc, so one can make an educated guess that you would expect certain idealism in a mate, therefore any love you have for another is absolutely bound by conditions.

As has been said, there is no romantic unconditional love, only that between a child and parent dog and master.

These are simply preferences. As an adult, a good few people simply know what works for them and they look for someone they have things in common with.

Love is a big word and it takes time to develop. I do think it is good to protect my heart and take time to get to know someone. But when I love someone, it's simply there.

It is not unconditional though. Love simply can go away if someone doesn't respect or treat me the way I respect and treat him. I don't have any intention of being a doormat (nor would I ever treat someone that way).

For all the junk talkers. Here is some information you might have missed while judging me (unfairly and taking stuff out of context)

What is Unconditional Love?

There is a difference between a mother’s unconditional love and a partner’s unconditional love. Your mom loves you no matter what you do – even if you cheat on your taxes, cheat on your spouse, or cheat in Scrabble. Your partner, on the other hand, loves you with a different type of “unconditional love.”

Your partner’s love may be based on how you treat him. If you’re faithful, communicative, supportive, and loving, then you’ll love him unconditionally. Those are signs of unconditional love that communicate respect and love in its deepest, most honorable form. What is unconditional love? An action, not just a feeling.

Loving someone unconditionally means not trying to change who they are. That is the simplest, purest definition of unconditional love in romantic relationships. I think it’s a better definition than “loving someone no matter what”, which is more of a maternal definition of unconditional love.

Also:

What is unconditional love?

Unconditional love in a relationship begins with oneself. To set the foundation for a lasting, healthy relationship, you must first have a strong sense of self-esteem and self-confidence. This doesn’t mean you never have emotional difficulties or don’t need support and extra attention at times.

But you do need to feel generally good about yourself, to like yourself, and to recognize the positive qualities you bring to a relationship. It also means you can stand on your own two feet as an individual without requiring a romantic partner to define you or complete you. You can be together with someone and still remain fully yourself — as a person you like and respect.

Within the relationship itself, unconditional love is the ability to love the other person as they are in their essence. If you have fallen in love with this person and want to build a lasting relationship with them, then you must view them as a unique individual — not as an extension of yourself.

Unconditional love within the context of a good relationship is a dance in which both partners participate. You begin with the essentials of self-love and mutual love and respect. You see and embrace the core of the other, their innate personality and worldview. You acknowledge the influences of their upbringing, life experiences, and ingrained behaviors.

But . . . unconditional love within the context of a lasting relationship requires lots of wiggle room. As part of self-love, you know your own personal boundaries and the limits of what you find to be acceptable and healthy behaviors and reactions from your beloved.

There..Next time I suggest you ask questions rather than judge me. Thank you for your time. And to be honest...I'd rather have a dog then have to spend the rest of my life with a woman who is only out to emasculate me. Just saying.

Thank you Gray Wolf for sharing this poll..

Every one has their own personal definition of what conditional/ unconditional love, truly means to them..

Lak'ech Ala K'in - of the Maya " I am the other yourself"
Mitakuye Oyasin for the Lakota. " All My Relations" is universal love.

The universal life force of love; The code of the Heart, a state of being connected to all sentient beings.

When one cares for another, as they care for oneself ,that is the
purest loving state of being..

For me,I know love and fear can not dwell in the same
space. My intention is to discern
the difference between a true loving connection and the illusion of infatuation.

Thank you for the support. I need to learn to develop thick skin and ignore the bad people. I live my life as best I can according to the teachings of Taoism and in some rare cases Christianity. I know there are women out there that fit what I am looking for, it's just taking longer to get past all the nonsense. Once again. Thank you for the kind words.

That is very true. People deceive themselves about unconditional love. Unconditional love is only possible for your child and no other person, because no matter what you can't throw away your child, even though so many men and women do not have this unconditional love for even their own child. Relationship love is always with condition. There are things I will not tolerate for any man.Number one, I will never love an abusive man unconditionally. He doesn't deserve me so loving him unconditionally is fooling myself and it means denying myself a chance to live happily in this world. I can count on a lot of realities. So i don't believe in unconditional love.
