do the police in your area obey the law 100%,or do they 'bend' the rules to suit themselves?i regularly see the force in my area not use indicators on their vehicles when driving.also very recently,2 police women were stopped at a traffic light.obviously it was too slow for them,so the driver pulled out into the wrong lane(without an indicator!)and zoomed up to the police station(only 30 metres away!)there was no emergency call to attend,no siren, flashing light, etc.they got out of thier car,and walked casually into the police station!mumbling .awhile ago,2 police men pulled up at a red light.they waited about 3 seconds, then drove through it!also,i know a detective in town.today he was off duty...and he was driving his own car, happily chatting away on his phone!in my country,if an ordinary guy does that, they throw the book at you!so what's your opinion?it makes my blood boil!very mad

It's like that in the large city in Florida, USA, that I used to live in. Florida has an aggressive driver problem, and the police are the most aggressive drivers. The police would tailgate cars in 30 mph (slow) speed zones, run red lights, etc. Once a police officer lectured me because I didn't take a right-on-red in heavy traffic. I "yessirred" him and pretended to be respectful, and laughed about it later.

Who knows, if I was the victim of a crime later, and had to call the police, Murphy's law would dictate the very same cop that I had disrespected, would be the one that would show up. My guess is that only those with aggressive personalities are attracted to police work, and the work makes them more so. I'm happy if they can keep their guns in their holsters.

One time I was waiting in the car and I saw a police officer stop at a red light. Then they turned on their flashy lights and sped through the red light...Then parked at a coffee shop, 5 mins later I see them come out with coffee and donuts very mad

Ok, so the police are human. They make human mistakes. I want to see you put your life on the line every day and make less than a retail store manager. I bet you would be singing their praises though if you were in danger. I know cops and one of my best friends is a cop. Every day he walks into situations where he may not come out alive. My friend could die because he is protecting disrespectful people. People who bad mouth cops make me angry because they mouth a lot but I don't see them out there every day taking risks like that for other people.very mad

I won't vote because I am biased. I do not believe that law enforcement should be expected to be any better then the general populous. We are human beings, we make mistakes.

I hope that the examples you used were exceptions and that those instances are rare. In my opinion those individuals are abusing the power of being in LE and should be punished for it as any other citizen would be. If I were to be caught doing those things, I would be nailed to a wall here by my own department. If I didn't it in a department vehicle, I would lose my job and be prosecuted.

Well here about 10 years ago I remember being behind 5 cars on the road and a firetruck behind us all, and suddenly heard a siren and we all pulled over, and as soon as the truck got infront of us all its lights n siren turned off! So yea was no fire etc., just the firefighting guys wanting to get in front....

cheers I totally agree with you. Had I not been so angry, I may have been able to express myself better. What is with the "I hate the police" attitude on this site. That attitude is why I have to worry about my friend every day he is on the job.

I believe there are good and bad law enforcement officers in every state, city and county and just like anyone else they're not perfect.

i can assure you that the police force in my area DONT risk their lives!my cousin is in the police force, but that doesnt change my view at all.they are there to set an example, and they should stick to it!a friend of mine moved through a red light, just 1 SECOND before it changed, and they threw the book at her!very mad ,but apparentely it's ok for the 2 women police to 'dive' into the wrong lane(without indication)and zoom up to the police station, because the traffic light was the 'wrong'colour!very mad very mad very mad.i would respect them if they practiced what they preached, but after all the things i have seen,i just cant! mumbling very mad very mad very mad
