For me, give me a classic any day. I can't seem to find a new vehicle that can stand up to the classic older cars, in fact I didn't have to spend as much repairing the older cars/trucks as I do today. I do have an old Ford yet, but its build like a tank and it can outrun most newer cars today. However the downside is it gets 10 miles to the gallon. But... my new truck only gets 14 miles to the gallon. Hmm, so its a toss up or not? Well, the old ford has posy (both wheels turn at once) traction and the new truck has independent limited slip traction which only one wheel spins. Get into snow, I want both wheels grabbing. The old ford has a big block V8 which turns out about 450 horsepower with a holly 650 dual carb. Now, its loud, it goes fast, it can run through fences and buildings and still run, while my new truck gets a dent in it if I lean on it, it gets stuck in 3 inches of snow with one wheel spinning on a 2 inch piece of ice and barely has enough power to get me up in the higher mountains.
Give me an old truck any day, in fact, I miss my old 71 Ford Torino that had the chrome bumpers, window trim and the flashy real Chrome wheels and that speedy 318 under the hood.
Now, I don't even get looks from women in my new truck, but jump into the old Ford with its low growl mufflers and flashy Ferrari red paint and I get tons of looks. Hmmm.
Time to sell the old truck and use the money to get wheels for the Ford.
Anyway, tell us your stories of your classics.
