Kids need more time. Don't try to be a step parent to them, try to be their friend and give them plenty of time to acclimate!! grin cool

I would never admit defeat. I think giving the kids space...and letting them know you aren't there to replace a parent is a good start.

However, if I really didn't like somebody's kids and they genuinely didn't like me........ I'd back off and out of the relationship - the kids should come first and it is not my role in life to make other people unhappy (especially kids, let alone their mother).
