OOOH How True

That reminds me of a story I heard one time .

Saint Peter was walkng down the street, As he looked over he saw the devil siting on the corner crying. Filled with compassion he walked over and put him arm around his shoulder. Looking down he ask (Man whats wrong nothing could be that bad). Then the devil looked up and said just look at it everyone is blameing me for everything and I had nothing to do with it . very mad

I think the President Obama needs to send more troops to Afghanistan. The situation there is still critical and if President Obama was to pull troops or not increase the troop level there, all efforts in combating the Taliban and Al Queada would be for nothing. The country would fall back into Taliban hands and the Taliban will continue to push into Pakistan.

But, a new strategy is needed, and more troops are needed. The same mistakes the Soviets made in the Afghan War are a lot of the same mistakes be made now by the United States.

Yeah, a lot of my buddies are over in Iraq and Afghanistan now too. And I just enlisted last week.

I like diplomacy and seeing war be avoided, but in this case we are already at war, and I don't think it would be right or look good on behave of the United States if we just left those two countries to fall into chaos after toppling their former governments.

very good post. I think you are right if we totaly pull out now it would turn into chaos and blood shed and the end would be worse then anything we could imagine . and what we would show to our alies would haunt us for years to come . cheers

I wish it were as easy as just up and leaving (I have 5 people I personally care deeply for there now)

unfortunately it is too much of a mess

we started it and need to make sure it gets finished the correct way

I hate it and if any of my friends come home in a box I will really hate it but they are proud to serve and I am proud of them

still sucks though
We are pulling troops out of Iraq... the force there is constantly shrinking in size. They didn't all get over there in a day, they can't all pack up and leave in a day either. It has to be organized and orderly, and remember there's alot of equipment that has to come back as well and that takes people too.

As for Afghanistan, it's a different issue and if anything we aught to be sending MORE troops there! 9/11 begin in Afghanistan, and that front has been neglected for far too long! We went in there after Osama Bin Laden, then our military got misdirected towards Iraq instead... it's time to get back on track here!

War is a terrable thing but to see the slaughter that could happen if we just leave would be heart breaking . I hope we don't make the same mistake we made in vietanm . after we pulled out estimates of million were murdered in Cambodia Laos and vietnam. because there was no one to stop them but we never showed that on the T V we just purged our minds of it and pretended it never happened . Unless you happened to be in the area as I was in tialand . hug

Here is the REAL statistics of the war in actual bad people killed.
27 really bad people were killed, which included Sadam, his henchmen, some biological scientists, and Sadams two ruthless brothers. Out of over 1 million deaths since the beginning of the war and over half of that number died when the USA invaded Iraq and bombed the heck out of Iraq killing mostly civilians.

Now, in the past year alone, over 135,000 civilians have died, that is women and children included from the US bombings in Iraq, Afghanistan, and lately Pakistan. How many really bad people died?
That total number comes to 17.

Now if we want to talk about entire villages that were wiped out that had nothing but civilians, that comes to 5 villages that were vaporized because of bad intelligence and the US military dropped 15 thousand pound bombs on the villages killing everyone inside.
It was a big OOOPS, but nobody was tried or sentenced for the genocide.

so for every really bad person the military goes after, that is around 150,000 innocent people died as a result.

so if you think my figures are off, then feel free to list the bad people and then give a number of what you come up with for civilian deaths. I think you will find from various articles on the web on how many have died that this is pretty close to almost exact in numbers.

Feel free to post what you find.

This war is nothing but a slaughter of innocent civilians and what the police there could have done without such bloodshed is what the opposite is from the military force used against the innocent people who live there.

I am against this war, we need to get out and start holding court martial's and get some of these Generals who are calling in these bombings convicted, along with Obama and Bush for Crimes against Humanity and their administrations.

I am retired Military and as a word of advice, refuse to go to the middle east. There are several in the military who refused to go and their orders were changed and they didn't have to go. One captain as you might remember was on Fox News who refused to go because he challenged Obama's birth certificate, they simply shoved it under the rug and changed his orders so he didn't have to go. Yet, nothing more was said and Obama never proved he was an American citizen. By the Constitution, you have to be an American citizen and meet the criteria to be able to become President.
Still this has not been resolved. So if you want to refuse to go, then do it.

If I was still in the military, I would opt out for an early retirement or simply refuse to go.
It is your choice.

I saw the documentary for the Vietnam war. It showed that in the documentary. It was very sad. A lot of our men died in vain for that war. To not finish the war and let everything go back the way it was, if not worse. Very sad...for them and us.

Uhm, your death counts are 10 times what is reported by the Iraqi government and feel free to look that up on the web.
