I personally object to the way the strong arm of the law is used to further persecute people who cant pay this extortionate licence fee - surely the police have better things to be getting on with and the prisons were intended for an altogether different type of inmate too - what do you think dunno

On this matter I agree in full but will go even further IN PUBLIC at any politician overv it-

I think that as the BBC is no longer developing any REAL entertainment and comedy programmes like it used to which could be said -perhaps arguably- to be its only reason for keeping it, the corporation crap it puts out including all the repeats has been dumbed down to lowest common denominator standards and re-gurgitated for cheapness to pay hifgjh salaries for the parasites that run it !!

It is the same on all its channels andnthere is no choice and therefore the licence fee which was set upto fund it ONLY - MUST be scrapped as soon as possible - I woule even favour a mass civil protest in London legalpor illegal and would take part.

Trouble is that no politician has the bloody guts to go against the corruption that exists in all political parties and even worse - Downing Street and the bastsrds at the treasury and propose it in Parliament as some of the bastsrds have a finger in the pie.

Its a shambles isnt it Mike - I agree with you - there are a couple of protest groups, Ill find you the addresses later on.....

It was all well and good when we only had the BBC, it was like we were all putting into a kitty to keep it going and there was entertainment and originality - but now, its nothing but repeats and rubbish.

I would be happy to pay on a pay per view basis but they wouldnt get much out of me - actually, if they did the pay per view thing, maybe they would have to be a bit less complacent as they would then be in competition with other providers and may even get more money in the long run....... I dont see though why we have to pay them money to watch any tv at all.

Why cant we just block them out on the receiver thingy like happens with other channels - its a farce imo......

An old time Tory reactionary (asshole, senior local councillor and freemason) here in Thanet said at a meeting a few weeks ago that pensioner objectors to the TV licenece fee should not rock the boat as we get free licences when we reach 75

You can guess what I said back AT HIM about being typically patronising having done 55 years productive skilled work all my working life like many nothers there

It was not polite to say the least.

haha, yes, I dont have to think too hard on that one Mike laugh

I think its absolutely disgusting and a gross insult that pensioners have to wait so long for a free licence - and I believe the blind still have to pay half fees as well - the BBC have got the lot of us by the wotsits if you ask me very mad

Im happy to pay my Sky subscription as I realise we cant all have tv for free as wages do have to be paid - but why the heck cant they get their revenue the same was as other producing companies - they do actually own companies and get money from Europe too I believe.......

it should trish. a friend of mines brother is partially sighted and he doesnt get his licence for free, but a small reduction, that to me sums up the bbc., let them fund themselves, like all the other channels have to.professor

Ho Folks - This poll result so far is interesting to say the least

Yes 10 67%
No 1 7%
Changed 3 20%
Other 1 7%

What the hell does *Changed* and *Other* mean* in this thread?
IMO -- The vote should ONLY be straight forward YES or NO. Simple as that.

Who decided the format - The CS StutZsttaffel or Trish - I would bet on the former tongue and I hope they are looking in laugh

The fact that the *blind* have to pay at all galls me as a life serving tax payer when the revenue is being wasted in other areas.

BUT - Are some people so gutless they can't say what they think and spell it out ?

With that result it shows the apathy most of us suspected regarding politics/voting etc, - Therefore - No wonder the Big Brother/Presidential/dictatorial attitudes are so prevalent under New Labour and the advice it gets from unelected academic social engineering pen pushers.

'changed' refers to different ways of supporting the good old beeb such as maybe a pay per view

and 'other' is quite simply that and put there for the simple reason that I may have overlooked something or 'other' hahaha

Its basically a discussion thread rather than a yes or no interlude....

oh yes, I designed it - soz if it doesnt meet with your approval.

Just a note from history here - Atlee was prime minister at the time of the inception of the TV licence - one of the greats of 'old' labour without whom we wouldnt have the national health service and women would likely still be using the potato trick to remedy prolapsed wombs.................

I think I did mention earlier that at the time (when all we had was the BBC and advertising wasnt such a money spinner) it wasnt such a bad idea that we all paid a modest amount into the kitty for what was then a world class service............

I agree thumbs up it would at least be more bearable if there were concessions for the blind, for pensioners and for people under the minimum income threshold............

I think we should keep the TV licence because the programmes are so fantastic thumbs up I have my tv permanently on BBC1 even when it's turned off. Now, if that's not a show of love and devotion then I don't know what is heart wings I'm not sure of exact price probably between £140-£150 notes. But, I'm sure it's worth every penny. I think we'd be better off getting rid or at least reducing council tax. know for sure I'd be £700 a year better off then professor
