Zellarrone1: Don't think I get that with having my son living here, not sure really. Just looked on bill and can't see anything about single person discount though

Not being nosey but if your sons over eighteen you wont qualify for single occupancy. although you dont look old enough to have a son of that age (Thats me covered)
Regarding tv licence lets get rid of it. Along with the NHS! Both cost me a fortune each year!!

Hmmm?-Wouldn't be too quick on the NHS one-might need it one day yourself?(god forbid).

I go along with that - If I had to pay up for all the pils I MUST take which on no account must be stopped for Myasthenia Gravis and the regular 3 monthly appointments with my Neurologicsal consultant privately it would cost me a fortune.

god forbid!! regarding the nhs: Apart from emergency treatment and the person being on some benefit, if your working you have to pay twice. National insurance and then pay for treatment for DENTIST, OPTICIANS AND WHATEVER ELSE! So ok for people on benefit to recieve these, but should be a clause for people in work to organise thier own medical cover. That was my point. (Oh yeh was in medical corp, not foriegn legion!!)

Really?-The TV licence is what now?-£140?-it would be quite fair to expect a higher standard of entertainment for a higher price!-but,unfortunately we still get the same old dribble-perhaps pay by view would be better value for money?-even at 5p a programme they would still make a fortune!.

Personally i can never understand why blind people have to pay anything at all?-you dont need a licence for the radio do you?-or are they under the impression that if they done that-then everyone is going to crowd into a blind persons house to watch TV for nothing?-Ooooh Heaven Forbid!!!-do they place that much importance on putting pictures to their soaps?.

Hey Micky, when you think about it really........ pensioners are terrified of breaking laws so........ they would rather starve than than not pay their tv licence - and then they have to eat too - what a bummer......... decisions, decisions, decisions..................
trish123 Lancashire, Lancashire, England UK
oh and I forgot, they may just want the comfort of a bit of warmth while they make their minds up too............. is that pathetic or what????????????????????????????

Beenabout Preston, Lancashire, England UK
Hey Trish-Are we in Harmony at last?-SOME pensioners get very confused about the ways of today-I am disgusted by some magistrates who summon them to court(they see the listings in advance)-it is not necessary-home visits can be arranged if it is that serious?-likewise todays Legal intelligencia(or as they like to think!)seem to have forgotten the term Pro Bono-in other words-if the case has strong merit and the client has no funds(cepting legal aid-but that term has changed,ithink?)-then do it-for the sake of Justice!-but unfortunately they consider their time too precious-BULLSHIT!-it wouldn't make that much difference to their workload(or income)-just to the clerk of chambers-or even worse-to the head of chambers!(Oooh the neighbours!).

Yeah i've been down this road before-are you surprised i took early retirement?.

it gets me mad as hell too Chris - 5 yrs ago I had to pay for a funeral so the tv license didnt get paid - i hardly ever watched the thing anyway - so I got caught without one, the whole thing dragged on and on and i had other licences but they eventually prosecuted me for the time i didnt have one - that was all just earlier this yr so, I made my first payment and a couple of weeks later the money came back in a cheque and a note to say it was too late - a few weeks later, the police were at the door treating me like I had got into this situation on purpose and demanding 450 £ instantly or withing half an hour the bailiffs would be round to take all my posessions - and they say it isnt a fascist state very mad Luckily, a quick phone call and an extremely good friend paid the sum on her card for me - I dont think I would have been sat typing this if she hadnt - i must be careful not to have to fork out for any more funerals when the bloody license is due in future......................

Well - start another thread as it takes one to know one

I can see some reasons for the license, but the amount it costs I find obscene, There was an article in the paper the other day by D Cameron, voicing his disgust at the inflated salary paid to the higher placed Executives, plus the disgusting salary paid to Ross and co, He advocated a greatly reduced pay scale and more investment into programs.

I think at this stage in the life of the BBC, they should take on advertising, reduce the license fee to £30 per year to cover development and learn that good programs get good coverage and hence good advertising rates.

That would be a good suggestion but doubt if Jock Brown would agree to releaee the strigngs on his pathetic Scots Darling puppet, and Mandelson Machiavelli might even stick his bloody poofter oar in too.
