Dear Irish people,

Please imform yourself of the facts and vote yes.

The Lisbon Treaty is not about deciving ciziens. It is about replacing all the previous treaties with one treaty making all the rights and legislation easier to access as well as codefing all the judical law.

The charter of rights sets outs the rights of citizens clearly so citizens can ensure they are enforced. The main purpose of European law is to set minium standards to which all memeber states must adheer to. This covers areas such as employment, safety, housing and health.

It seems that many people I have talked about this with voted no because they did not understand the issues or were angry at the goverment. Most people who are educated and actually understand the treaty can tell you that it does not actually change much. All the major parties, with the exception of Sinn Fein were united in promoting the treaty. Admitedly they did a very poor job of this but as we can read in the papers every day it is rare thay can agree and the opposition always able to pick holes in even mostly sound policies (voting machines anyone).

Why do I think I am qualified to write on this? I have a law degree, I elected to study E.U law in dept during my studies. I also have a degree in Public and Social Policy so I also have a background in Ecomonics, Politics, Sociology and Policy. I live in Brussels but I will be returning home to vote yes.

Please don't listen to scaremongering. At this trying ecomonic time we need to be united more than ever.

I know enough people with more than just a few degrees, and they don't even have a clue what they're walking around with inside their own teeth (talking of "health issues"). And furthermore, judging by he amount of tax payers' money those bastards are all ripping off in Brussels I'd say that it's about time they took a degree or two in basic human decency! I know nothing about politics other than the obvious fact that whatever they're doing, they're doing for their OWN vested interests and not for the likes of anyone else! Oh! And as you seem to be so clever at studying things, try getting a degree in toxicology and then go round telling everyone how harmless the mercury in their teeth is...! You haven't got a clue what's happening right under your very nose!

Well without getting into it, here is one that will be voting NO.

Are we to be treated like bold children and be asked the same question over and over until we give the answer they want.....

Voting no or yes for the lisbon treaty should be about whether you agree or disagree with a federal europe ...i for one do .....having another level of govern here has been all for the good and i think that despite the shortcomings of brussels the eu has achieved alot in the last 50 years and it is that which we should look at ....so that today we are the richest and most stable ( barring a few local disputes) block in the world which brings together the principles of an american free market economy with a good welfare system .....so much so is this the case that every day thousands from war strewn or impoverished lands attemtp to make their way to europe peace

Exactly! You'd better also make sure that they don't cheat because the scumbags certainly will if they get half the chance! As I don't happen to have a degree in criminology I do admit that I'm not an authority on politics, but I did read a book not long ago titled "How The Irish Saved The World". So once you've voted "No" again, then I'll write a book titled "How The Irish Saved Europe Too"...

That was meant for Vonney...

Actually the book was titled "How The Irish Saved Civilization"...

Vote Yes.

The No vote was mad and most of the reasons given were based on lies and distortions. Lots of vested interests want the European project to fail and Ireland's best hope of peace, prosperity and influence is that it succeed.

What is the question in this poll? confused

sambhava Vasteras, Vastmanland Sweden
Isn't that a bit like watching a football match, and when the side you don't want to win wins, you immediately ask them to play the match again so that they might lose next time...?
As I said, I don't have a degree in criminology, and so I don't know that much about politics, but as far as I'm concerned politicians can't even be trusted when they're right on your own doorstep, let alone when they're dishing out orders and ripping off tax payers' money from afar...! Besides, wouldn't it be better voting for a unified "New World Order" instead, because that's what the reptiles have got on the cards anyway...?
