IS (font) SIZE REALLY THAT IMPORTANT ??

Thanks, we weren't aware of that one.

IS (font) SIZE REALLY THAT IMPORTANT ??

Don't know where that came from Bodleing.. am still here, very involved crazy

IS (font) SIZE REALLY THAT IMPORTANT ??

Just want you to know that we've heard your reports about the font size problem on the Mail Compose page and that we're working on it. Not everyone is having the problem, appears to be a browser issue.

a few questions..
-is the fonts size problem still happening?

-Is small-fonts a problem only on the mail-reply page?.. or on other new pages as well?

-Are those who are experiencing small-fonts using their phone to access the site?

a few answers..
-yes, site transition will happen a section at a time.

-yes, changes will include the forum section..later... we think you'll like it.

-yes, IM will return.. but we're not satisfied that the benefits are worth the problems involved with it yet. We planned to launch IM with the new pages, but decided to wait until page updates are complete and IM product is more dependable.

-no, we're NOT gearing up to start charging you for anything.. just updating and improving.. for quality and growth. CS is totally free and ALWAYS will be.
- - - - -

We apologize for problems that may happen with the new pages as we work out any bugs. We understand that change can be hard and even irritating, but it will get easier as you use it, and will make more sense as new pages are transitioned. Click around on members profiles and we think you'll like the new ways that features are displayed.

We've added the convenience of a Profile Admin section right on your profile. Click My Profile on the top nav and you will see it in green letters near the top of your page. You can make changes right there. If you don't care for the new grey/black default color scheme, click the Edit Color Scheme link and a color scheme editor will appear at the top of the page. Choose a Color Type from the dropdown (dark colors or pastels), then either use the slide bar, or enter numbers in the box to see a range of color choices. It's pretty cool :)

We think the new darker look is complimentary and appropriate for some pages (love-it on photo pages, galleries, friends pages (click My Friends on right side of your profile), etc.), but dark colors will not be used on all.

More to come...
We appreciate your patience.

TOP 12 REASONS TO POST A TOP10 LIST

List continued...

9. Weird or odd = interesting
Sharing some weird, odd, or little known facts is interesting and attracts readers.

10. HowTos = helpful
Posting some Tips, Best, or New ‘Ways to Do-it’ can be helpful to others. You know a lot. Everyone has had experiences and has something to offer. For example..

Think about your job:
What are 10 related things you know about?… post it in a List.
-If you are a Beautician, what are your Top10 makeup tips, keeping hair healthy, (and maybe your Top4 worst perm jobs).
-If you’re a Customer Service Rep, what are Top10 ways to get what you need from a company, (and how about those Top3 worst nightmare customers you’ve had).
-If you’re a Tradesman, what are the Top10 tips you can give in your specific field of carpentry, landscaping, heating, building or repair work?
-Other occupations.. based on your knowledge, what are your best tips to buying a home, improving your credit, refinancing a loan, decorating your living room, finding a job, preparing a will, training a pet, growing a garden, trying acupuncture, choosing a wine, using herbs and homeopathic medicines, dealing with divorce, teaching children to read, dealing with a sick baby, attracting a mate, choosing a diet and losing weight, quitting smoking, etc.?

11. Things you like-to-do provide good info for lists
Think about your pastimes and hobbies:
Just for example.. if you love snowboarding, you know a lot about the topic and could write:
- Top10 things I like about snowboarding,
- Top10 reasons to get a snowboard,
- Top10 snowboarding tips,
- My Top5 worst/best snowboarding experiences,
- Top10 places to snowboard or ski,
- My Top3 worst falls, or
- Top10 things you should know when buying a snowboard.

12. Comments are fun
Your list may bring comments from members.. an interesting exchange of opinions on the topic.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~

in conclusion…
Top10 Lists are easy and fun. You can research and present facts if you like.. but you don’t need to be an expert on anything but your own favorites or opinions to post one. Share your list or comments today.

To Create a Top 10 List:
Click on "Top 10 Lists" in the top nav, then click on the "Create a Top 10 List" yellow button, or use this link:

If he cancelled, his messages to you would still be there.

RE: Cork Get-Together - Saturday 11th November

Hello,

If you guys want this event to be included in the next mailing about events (which will be sent out shortly), please post details: time, date, where, what, when, etc.

Thanks irish

RE: Clare Get-together - Sat 4th november

Okay, lets try something new...

On the first page of this thread, near the sign up box, notice the new green box, that says "when, where, what, etc.".

From now on, lets put the details of the event there, so that everyone knows these important details without having to ask.

For now, email "contact us" with the details and we will put them there for you. But later, we can make it so that you guys can edit it, and then you can keep it up to date.

So, email me or "contact us" and we will put the details of the event there.

Also, if you want us to mass email about this event, then email "contact us".. and we will send out the notices.

RE: pics from galway

RE: Saturday the 30th Updated!!! - Galway Get-Together, Sept 30

FYI: Notices have just been sent to all the Ireland members about your get-together. cheers

RE: Saturday the 30th Updated!!! - Galway Get-Together, Sept 30

Good point, TheCount, I was thinking the same thing...to move the signup box to this thread, since it is updated.

I'm going to lock the other thread, since it is confusing to have both threads, and other members may go there and get outdated information. Lets use this thread from now on to talk about the event, and I will refer members to this thread with the email.

RE: Saturday the 30th Updated!!! - Galway Get-Together, Sept 30

Count – Here is the message that will be sent to members regarding your event. Do you have any additions?

Will there be someone at The Huntsman during the full 5:30 to 7:00 time period to greet people and show them where to go- to make sure no one gets lost and everyone finds the group?

SUBJECT: Galway Get-together - this Saturday Sept 30!

MESSAGE:
ConnectingSingles forum members are planning a fun get-together in Galway this Saturday, Sept 30. Bring friends and join the group...

WHEN: Saturday Sept 30,
WHERE: Meet at THE HUNTSMAN in Galway - between 5:30pm and 7:00pm
The Huntsman is on the Dublin Rd/College Rd

WHAT: You’ll have a choice to go with a group to a nearby dog track (3 minute walk from the Huntsman), or join a group at the Skeff Pub. The group that goes to the dog track will join members at Skeff Pub later on.

MORE INFO:
More Info:
(or see the forum thread called: "Meet In Galway anyone? - Galway Get-Together, Sept 30")

Anyone needing directions or info on accommodations can email TheCount on the site.

If you would like to attend the Get-Together simply click the "Signup" button that appears above the first post on this page: If you want to discuss the event with other members, you may post to the thread by clicking the "Reply to this Thread" button.

RE: Saturday the 30th Updated!!! - Galway Get-Together, Sept 30

Okay, you want me to delete the thread called: "galway sat 30th"

What about the posts from HeartBeats? is that information we should save and post to this thread? Or is that information out of date now?

So the plan is:

Everyone will meet in "The Huntsman" on Dublin Rd/College Rd between 5:30 and 7:00pm
and then I'm not clear what you are doing after that? Are you guys splitting up? Some are going to the City Centre Pub Called The Skeff and some are going to the dog track? Or is it just that some are going to stop at the Skeff, and will eventually meet up at the Dog Track? Which is it?

Should I be telling people which dog track? Or is there only one, or...? Maybe you should give me the address of the dog track, or the website, or the name of it or something.

I need to get this straight so I can send out the email. The more info you give me, the better, then members won't have to ask or wonder. beer

RE: All talk- or anybody up for some action? - Dublin Get-Together, Saturday Sept 9

Oh... I know why you are not seeing the signup box....because you're not on the Ireland site. This feature has not been added to the other site yet. So go to ConnectingSingles.ie and go to the forums, and you'll see it there.

RE: All talk- or anybody up for some action? - Dublin Get-Together, Saturday Sept 9

Hello,

The sign up box is on the first page on the bottom of the first post made by Munchkin2.

If you are not seeing it, it could be because your browser has cached that page, and you just need to refresh to see the changes. Click your browser's refresh button, or the f5 key will work on a Windows machine.

If you still can't see it, let me know, and I'll look into it more, or I can add you to the event too.

It's good to fix these technical things, before we send out an email notice to other members beer

RE: All talk- or anybody up for some action? - Dublin Get-Together, Saturday Sept 9

Hello, this sounds like fun! Glad to hear you all are getting together.

We entered a SignUp box in the first post, page 1 of this thread. Click the SignUp button to show you will attend this Get-Together and to help Munchkin2 to plan accordingly.

When you sign up for this event, your photo will show in that first post on a list of members planning to attend. Signing up early will encourage more members to attend, and will help Munchkin2 with making the arrangements.

Munchkin2,
Send place, date and time to Contact Us and we will send out a notice to all Ireland members about this event.

Have fun.

RE: All talk- or anybody up for some action? - Dublin Get-Together, Saturday Sept 9

If you take pictures at the get-togethers, and want to post them in the forums, write to "contact us", and we will give you a page to upload them. We can set up a forum thread like the sign-up thread, and you can post the pictures there.

It may be fun, to share the photos and experience with other members in the forums who could not make it, and who may want to come next time.

RE: Meet In Galway anyone? - Galway Get-Together, Saturday Sept 30

Okay, I'm going to lock this thread now. We've moved the signup box to another thread called: "Saturday the 30th Updated!!!"

This thread has outdated information, and may confuse people who want to join in on this event.

RE: Meet In Galway anyone? - Galway Get-Together, Saturday Sept 30

Another great idea! Sounds like fun! beer

We entered a SignUp box in the first post on page 1 of this thread.
Click the SignUp button to show you'd like to attend this Get-Together and to help TheCount plan accordingly.

When you sign up for this event, your photo will show in that first post on a list of members planning to attend. Signing up early will encourage more members to attend, and will help TheCount with making arrangements.

TheCount,
If you would like a notice sent to all Ireland members about this Get-Together, send place, date and time to Contact Us and we will send one out for you.

Have fun.

NEW FEATURE – CONNECT WITH CARDS

gift Happy Holidays to everyone! gift

We’d like to invite you to view a little holiday greeting that some of our staff put together for you (don’t blame me for this one).

Click on eCards in the top nav, then click "eCard From CS" in the left sidebar.
Or use this link:

We’d also like you to check out a new feature we just installed. We’ve added CS eCards with Christmas and Holiday greetings for you to customize with a note and a holiday greeting, then send to member friends. A variety of others will be added after the holidays. You may use one of the already made cards or you can create a template for a card of your own. And as always, this feature is totally free for you to use here.

We hope you have as much fun with these cards as we’ve had developing this feature.

We care for you all and we’re glad you are members.
Wishing you a safe and peaceful holiday
And lots of great connections here in the New Year.

NEW CONNECTING SINGLES POLLS FEATURE

Have any of you clicked on Polls in your top navigation bar yet? Here is some info about the new polls feature at ConnectingSingles:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

CS Polls is a new connecting tool on the site that allows you to post a question along with several multiple choice answers in a poll format, and get opinions from members about things that interest you. The polls may also provide interesting topics for discussion in the forums.

Enter a question with up to 10 multiple-choice answers. Each time a member votes on your poll, the total counts will be updated and the poll results will display on a bar graph. Polltakers will have the choice to enter a formal comment to the poll question in the Polls area and (when designated by the poll author) to enter discussion about the poll in a poll forum thread. Polls are easy to use and pretty much self-explanatory. You'll learn the features as you go along.

All polls are available to be voted on by all members. But NOT all polls have to be forum polls... it's up to each poll author. You can create a poll either to appear in the Canada Forums (where it is open for discussion here), OR you can create a poll to appear only in the formal Polls area (open for comments there only). You should not create duplicates.

We created these two choices because some authors may want to keep their poll in the Polls area where comments may be more serious, more focused and less likely to go off topic than a forum poll might, while other poll authors may prefer the more active, casual discussion of their poll in a forum thread.

To start a poll that WILL appear in your Canada Forums for discussion:
Click the new "CREATE NEW POLL" button above in the light green Forum nav bar (in your top navigation of a forum page, next to "Create New Thread").
Polltakers may vote directly in the first post of a poll thread.

To start a poll that will NOT appear in the Forums:
Click the "POLLS" link in the dark green top navigation bar.
Comments may then be entered in that Polls area only.
These polls will receive more focused comments that will not be as likely to go off topic as “sometimes” happens in a forum thread.

To view and vote on Polls created by other members:
Click “POLLS” in the dark green top nav bar to view and start voting.
Click “All Polls” to see a list of all the polls that have been entered so far

Voting:
Voting on polls is anonymous, usernames are not listed. Click on the "Vote Breakdown" link underneath a poll to see how the voting on that poll is broken down by gender and age (this is interesting).

To see the results of the poll in any thread:
Click on the "Results" tab and it will show you a bar graph of the voting. Click on the "Poll" tab to cast your vote.

We hope this is an interesting addition to the site and that you will find thought-provoking questions and topics that will be of interest to Canada members to vote on, comment on, and discuss.

Happy Holidays

What do you think of the new Polls feature?

This is to introduce the new opinion polls feature we have added for you at Connecting Singles.

Polltakers will have the choice to enter a formal comment to the poll question in the Polls area and, in some cases, to enter discussion about the poll topic in a poll forum thread. Polls are easy to use and pretty much self-explanatory. You'll learn the features as you go along.

You can create a poll either to appear in the Forums like this one ( where it is open for discussion here), or you can create a poll to appear only in the formal Polls area (open for comments there only).

To start a poll that WILL appear in the Forums for discussion:
Click the new "CREATE POLL" button at the top right of the forum page, next to "New Thread".
Polltakers may vote directly in the first post of a poll thread.

To start a poll that will NOT appear in the Forums:
Click the "POLLS" link in the top navigation bar.
Comments may be entered in this Polls area only.

After several polls have been entered, you may find an interesting poll created by another member that is not appearing in the forum. If you think that poll would lead to good forum discussion, you may move the poll into the Forum by clicking a link on the poll's comment page that says "Start Forum Discussion".

Voting:
Voting on polls is anonymous, usernames are not listed. Click on the "Vote Breakdown" link underneath a poll to see how the voting on that poll is broken down by gender and age.

To see the results of the poll in this or any thread:
Click on the "Results" tab and it will show you a bar graph of the voting. Click on the "Poll" tab to cast your vote.

We hope this is an interesting addition to the site and that you will find thought-provoking questions and topics to enter, comment on, and discuss.

Happy Holidays

RE: A New Link BLOG ......

Forums... Blogs... Yes, it may seem confusing, but blogs are not just another forum. For those who haven't seen it, here's a copy of the info blurb from the "What's a Blog?" link on the 'All Blogs' page that may help.

- - - - - - - -
A Blog is a journal you may enter about your life, your thoughts, interesting experiences, or lessons you have learned. It's a homepage on Connecting Singles that you can update on a regular basis, or just whenever you have something to say. You can write about an opinion, impart words of wisdom, or talk about something interesting in your day. Creating a blog is a good way to share something of yourself with Connecting Singles members. Reading blogs is a good way to learn more about members you have met here.

A blog IS NOT a personal-ad describing yourself or the person you are seeking. You already have a profile on the site for that.

A blog is NOT for one-to-one chatting. You have onsite email for that. Click the "Email" button on a member's profile.

A blog IS NOT a Forum for discussion, debate, advice or asking questions of other members. Join the Connecting Singles Forums for these purposes.

You may use your blog to record your thoughts, opinions and ideas. All blogs are open to viewing by the public and to comments from other members. You may read and then delete those comments to your blog if you wish. You may edit your own blog, however, you may not edit your comment to another member's blog.

Purple Navigation bar.
Use links in the purple navigation bar at the top of blog pages, to navigate the Connecting Singles Blog area:

Men Blogs - click to see only blogs entered by male members
Edit Blog - this is your admin page for your blog. Click to view/edit blogs you entered and delete comments.
Post to my Blog - click to enter a new blog, or post to your existing blog.

Professor, that nav bar should be light purple. Will you please refresh your page and let me know if you are still seeing a black bar.

Hello Minnesota!!

Welcome to the forums, you guys! I have been to Brainerd several times. Never been to Park Rapids.

I finished shoveling, just now... Took me two days because I don't have a snow blower. doh Usually I don't need one though. I've forgotten how heavy the snow is when there is that much of it...it's hard work.

Give it time, the forums will grow. New forums always take a while to get going.

New California Forums!!

I can certainly understand that...even watching the cross country skiers go by on the frozen lake outside my window, makes it hard to stay inside.

Yep, 20 below IS pretty crazy...

New California Forums!!

Getting snowed in at the office is one way to get some work done wink

Wow, perfect weather! That's 80 degrees warmer than it is here. Yeah, I could use a vacation... sigh
