RE: psychosis

Hi Yubba...I think what you will find with your friend is that he was self medicating with the weed for an existing mental condition (not uncommon with some people that they use alcohol or drugs to avoid treatment or just seek the easier softer way). Your thinking that the weed caused this stems from your misunderstanding of why people take drugs voluntarily. It is not the "evil demon weed" from the 1920's literatrure and is in fact being used to treat people for certain conditions. Hell here in Canada it is going to be legalized and treated much the same way alcohol is. I'm glad your friend sought medical help for the original condition.

RE: Merle Haggard, country music legend, dies at 79

Thanks Stringman thumbs up thumbs up

RE: Merle Haggard, country music legend, dies at 79

A very sad day, Merle has been my favorite singer/songwriter since I heard his first song (for me that was Okie from Muskogee) back in the late 60's. Being a hippie at the time it didn't exactly tickle my fancy but I recognized his talent and continued to enjoy his music as I discovered more about him. He had such a way with a phrase and was one of the best guitar/fiddle players in country music. Between him and Willie and Kris (luckily we still have two of them) some of the best songs ever written were recorded for history. I fear the near future will see more of the greats leaving us. This recent time we've lost George Jones, Johnny Cash and Glen Frey and a few others. crying

RE: why is there stigma attached to mental illness.?

Unfortunately some mental illness presents itself in stressful episodes for all concerned. Some downright violent. At that point it becomes subjective to the person being attacked and leaves a very prominent memory. We would all like to think of ourselves as forgiving and loving but in truth many (including myself) harbor a serious distrust and yes "fear" of the illness and it's ramifications. If there is a proven track record of the ill person staying on their meds and keeping their behavior to an acceptable norm then trust can be rebuilt. It is no ones fault just human nature. dunno

RE: how could existence be. ? where did existence come from.

One of your fellow countrymen (Dave Allen...at large) had a famous line that went...In the beginning the was nuthin' and the Lord said "Let There Be Light" and there was still nuthin' but youse could see it. head banger grin doh

RE: Glenn Frey

sigh I so enjoyed their reunion...he is irreplaceable, so talented

RE: Higher consciousness

thumbs up thumbs up how are ya Bode it's been a long timewave

RE: Higher consciousness

I wouldn't use the term superior when explaining things spiritual...it smacks of a little too much ego. The raising of one's consciousness is transcending the ego on the way to spiritual enlightenment. Moving your awareness from the physical brain to the level of soul.imhodunno head banger

RE: Met someone, got airline tickets.. then she disappeared

After only knowing her through contact on the net and buying airline tickets within the first week has scared her off. No one stands to gain by your decision to purchase the tickets so it is your impetuousness that frightened her and I for one don't blame her. If anyone appeared to be a scammer it was you (I don't think you are but your actions speak loud and clear). You may want to take more time like has already been suggested and use a little more discretion in your decisions. Good luck.dunno

RE: Ugh...Winter again

It never leaves the blood but I hear ya on the sportbike...cruisers are my style these days. I drove to Ottawa from Toronto in mid January last year to get a hell of deal on the 1300 VTX (it has a single pin crank like a Harley and with the pipes and jetted carb it sounds better than my Harley ever did). I offered the guy a ridiculous (low) price for it and as he was getting out of riding (at 74) he went for it as he knew I really wanted the bike. I'd been looking for one exactly like it so he gave me the bike and all his riding gear and extras. One of those deals you just fall into. You have all winter to find the right bike but sometimes off season you get a much better deal. motorcycle dancing
