I have lived in Alaska for 30 years ..I'm an easygoing person , kind of reclusive . I'm a Christian ; don't claim to be the best , but I try to live a good life . My son and his family ; and I , have 8 acres of beautiful lakefront property , 1500 feet from the ocean ; about 15 miles from Homer Alaska . We intend to build a homestead there . Far enough of the grid so you're seldom bothered by people , but close enough to civilization , to be able to get supplies .We have lived in Alaska for 30 years ; and have gardened and fished every summer . We aren't big on hunting , but when we move we will be relying heavily on hunting and fishing for food . There are moose , and mountain goats ; and unfortunately lots of black bears , but very few brown bears ( thankfully) in that area . There is a salmon stream close to the land , and in the cove ( salt water) there are clams to be dug and mussels galore . You can also set crab and shrimp traps . Out in the bay you fish for halibut . There is an old cabin on the land . Spring 2021 , God willing . we are going to start 2 new cabins . We have 2 , possibly 3 other families ( all with kids ) involved in this venture . One guy is a Physicians Assistant and his wife is a nurse . All these people are very much into the outdoors and living out in the bush ,
