6 Daily Habits Which Cause Wrinkles

As we get older, more and more wrinkles start to appear. It's part of the natural process of growing old and there isn't much you can do to stop it. However, you can slow down the appearance of wrinkles and look younger for longer by changing a few daily habits.

Smoking

Everyone knows the dangers of smoking and the adverse effect it can have on your health. Smoking can cause wrinkles because it blocks the blood flow to your skin. Your skin needs oxygen and nutrients to stay healthy and create new skin cells. Blocking the blood flow results in less oxygen and nutrients reaching your skin. Moreover, constantly puffing away on a cigarette will cause fine lines to appear around your mouth.

Smartphone

Overusing your smartphone can also cause wrinkles around your chin. Most people sit with their phone and stare downwards at them for hours. You will have probably noticed strained eyes and a sore neck from staring down at your phone for long periods of time. However, neck wrinkles may also develop due to sitting in an unusual position for hours at a time.

Chewing Gum

Constantly chewing gum will cause the corners of your mouth to turn downwards. It also causes the muscle at the bottom of the jaw to become more pronounced. These two things cause wrinkles to appear around your jaw. If you are worried about fresh breath, then you should consider sucking mints or using mouthwash.

Sleeping on Your Stomach

Sleeping on your stomach causes a lot of pressure on your face. When you go to sleep, your face will have spent the night being pushed against your pillow. If you've spent the whole night sleeping on your stomach, you'll notice creases on your face in the morning. Over a period of time, these creases will start to lead to more permanent wrinkles. Try sleeping on your back and don't put unnecessary pressure on your face.

Too Much Sugar

Sugar doesn't only cause you to put on weight, it can also cause skin damage. When you eat sugar, protein and sugar molecules bind together. This process is known as glycation and it creates harmful molecules in your bloodstream. These harmful molecules can damage collagen and elastin which help your skin to stay firm. As collagen and elastin decreases, your skin will be less firm and more wrinkles will start to appear.

Frowning and Squinting

Facial movements such as raising your eyebrows, frowning, or squinting cause your muscles to contract. Regular and repeated facial movements will cause the muscles to become bigger and more lines will appear on your face. As these muscles grow even stronger, you'll notice more wrinkles start to appear around your eyes and forehead.

Growing old and wrinkles come hand in hand. You have no control over that, and you won't be able to stop wrinkles appearing forever. However, there are some daily habits which cause wrinkles to appear earlier than normal, which you do have control over. A few simple changes in your lifestyle will keep your face looking younger and more beautiful for longer.

Always reminds me of the middle aged couple sat by the fireside. She all of a sudden blurts out to her husband and says "Do you think it will make me look younger if I don't wear my Bra"?

He looks over his glasses takes another puff on his pipe and says "Well, it will certainly take the wrinkles out of your face!"

Ta Daaaah...........
