How To Deal With A Bossy Boyfriend

Bossy people are used to getting their way all the time. If they don't get their own way on the first try, they know exactly what to say and do to make it happen. While you can't change someone else, you can change the way you deal with him. Here are 3 tips to help you deal with a bossy boyfriend.

1. Learn to say "no."

It's probably a word that your boyfriend doesn't hear very often. Even if people don't want to do what he says, they might not say no outright. Instead of trying to send hints and be nice about it, learn to say "no" loud and clear. Just because someone asks you to do something doesn't mean you are obligated to do it. You are allowed to say no when you don't have the time, energy or simply think you're being asked to do something that he can do himself.

2. Let him be angry

The reason that so many people give in to other people's demands is that they fear anger. If your boyfriend gets mad at you because you won't do what he tells you, he's trying to manipulate you into doing what he wants. Giving in would only show him that he can get away with his bossy behavior by pouting, getting angry or giving you the silent treatment. Let it be okay when he gets upset. Don't feel guilty when you've done nothing wrong.

3. Expect difficulty

It's not going to be an easy road when you suddenly stop giving in to your boyfriend's bossy behavior. It's going to be an uphill battle for a while, but it will be worth it in the end. At times you'll wonder if it's just easier to give in to his demands rather than struggle to try and change how you deal with him. It's ALWAYS worth the struggle you go through to make someone respect you.

It's important when you're dealing with a bossy boyfriend that you remain strong. If you cave every time things get difficult or he gets upset, you will never make any progress. You might not be able to change your boyfriend, but you can change the way you deal with bossy people
