Although the law of attraction has gained popularity in recent years among proponents of new age thinking, the principles underlying this universal law have been around since creation. Since antiquity, the law of attraction has been taught in various ways in the context of religion. People have referred to it as faith or belief and have practiced it extensively in the form of prayer and meditation.
In the simplest terms, the law of attraction is the notion that like attracts like. To expound, the law of attraction purports that the essence of the energy that a person put out in the form of thought, will eventually return to them as physical manifestation. To put it another way, what you focus on is what will expand in your life. Society has developed a number of saying that articulate the meaning of the law of attraction. Do any of these common axioms sound familiar?
At the foundation of the law of attraction is the premise that there is great power in our ability to concentrate our thoughts on the things that we want to experience. On the other hand, when we our focus is on the lack of money, love or health, then, much to our chagrin, our thoughts are busy attracting that deficiency. Picture a magnet attracting metal and not wood. In much the same way, the quality of our consciously focused thoughts affects the circumstances that we find ourselves in. By becoming aware of this powerful law, we can shift this process from an unconscious practice to a well-thought-out conscious course of action.
Mindful concentration and focus is at the heart of the law of attraction. Harnessing the divinity within is equal to being able to choose your thoughts and place your attention upon your desired experience.
