How to Get Over a Breakup

How to Get Over a Breakup

After a breakup, it's important to keep a positive attitude and to find ways to get on your feet again. The world isn't over and you can be happy again. Here you have some tips on getting over your ex.

1. Keep yourself busy

Maybe the most important rule in the "getting over a breakup" process is to keep yourself busy. Be active, go to the movies, get involved in community services, take Japanese or self-defense lessons, go visit an old aunt, start cooking, read books, go shopping or learn social games. Find entertaining ways to keep your mind away from your ex.

2. Remember you are not alone

Call your friends, invite them over, hang out with them, go dancing and try to have fun. Your friends are there for you, always ready to offer you their time and their support. Their love is endless and you deserve it for sure. Just open your heart to receive it.

3. Think about the benefits of being single

Maybe you can't remember the last time you were single. There are some things you can't do when being in a relationship, but now it's your time. Maybe you always wanted to do something crazy like bungee-jumping, but you didn't do it because your ex was afraid or not into it. Think about all the stuff you couldn't do and just do them. Do you remember the cute guy that asked for your number and you didn't give it to him because of your ex? Now you are free to do whatever you want, whenever you want, with whoever you like, without having to give any explanations to anyone.

4. Don't get in touch with your ex

Now, it's healthier for you to keep the distance from your ex. You are often tempted to call him, e-mail him or visit him, but try to stay away from him. Seeing your ex too soon after the breakup could hurt you again. It's confusing and could send you the wrong messages. Don't get in touch with him. Make this decision and stick with it. You can do it. You are stronger than you think.

Getting over a breakup depends on you. Choose to be happy again, even if it seems the hardest thing to do. Be thankful for every 'single' day and make space in your life for a new love.
