The truth about the passion of Christ is revealed in His intense love for every person and desire that all will spend eternity with Him in heaven. This is the reason Christ came to earth and went to the cross to die a disgraceful death.
The Passion of Christ is tremendously powerful, superseding every other form of passion that humanity may have experienced; in fact it is the only episode of unconditional love displayed in human history.
He is a King that became poor so that we might be rich; a Saint that became a sinner that sinners might be saints and a Life that became death that the dead might live again. This was not just ordinary, that despite the pain, lashes, mockery, hatred, resentment, wounds, hunger, shame and even nailing to the undeserved cross by the people He came to save, Christ never allowed His carnal feelings to override God's divine purpose for mankind. He laid a clear foundation of how love should be practiced-living a selfless life.
This alone has fostered that the divisions, war, and alienation result in our inability to love, to share, to dialogue, and to forgive. The only option and solution we have is to love one another. Divorce, separation, and cruel feelings toward one another as in our age will always break up the family of God and the world community at large. It begins on a micro level, as happens between mother and fetus, husband and wife, children and parents or friends. Compassion for one another, in recognition of the fact that all of us are sinners, all of us hurt one another, all of us are insensitive and selfish, makes us understand that indeed without forgiveness the human family cannot be, and the children of God cannot become one body without understanding, reconciliation and forgiveness.
We broke the treaty, we sinned against God, all of us failed short of the Glory He made us with-His true nature of Holiness and Purity and were condemned to death, yet He found it in His heart to reason, to understand, to forgive and reconcile us back to His very purpose of creating us- a one and happy family.
God knew that there was only one way to redeem mankind to Himself -- once and for all. That could only be done through sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to earth to live a sinless life and die on the cross as a once-and-for-all sacrifice for all of mankind's sins. Romans 5:8 states, "But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
God demonstrated His unconditional love by sending His only begotten son to be sacrificed as a ransom for lives of many. Now, understand the pain of giving out the only money in your wallet to a stranger or giving out the remaining food at home to stranger that you and your kids will be hungry. More so, imagine you telling a military general; please kill me and set others free, take my life so that others will go free, kill me that my husband may live, kill me that my wife may live, kill me that my children may live or kill me that my Parents may live.
A story was told of two couples riding on a motorcycle on the highway. The man was wearing helmet while the wife was not but on the process of their journey the man discovered that their motorcycle's break line has gone flat. That means they were about to clash but the man did not tell the wife this development rather he said, "Please, honey take my helmet and wear it.
"Why honey", asked the wife.
"Just remove it from my head and wear it", the man persuaded. By doing this, the man was just saying, I lay my life for you to live. I am ready to die for you, therefore take my protection and protect yourself. Not quite a distant, they ran into a heavy truck parked by the road side. The man smashed his head on the road and died on the spot while the wife lives.
Even now, it is very difficult to consider giving out your life for your wife, husband, children or friends to live let alone giving it out for strangers. Many may find it extremely difficult to even donate blood or kidney to a sick relative, but someone has already demonstrated a clear instance of Love by laying his life that you may have eternal life-the passion of Christ Jesus is the only unconditional Love.
