Buying a new car in Ireland?...
Many people dont know when they buy a new car in the Irish republic (Southern Ireland) that the VRT (vehicle regisration tax) they are paying is an ILLEGAL tax not sanctioned by the European Union...
The Irish government has been fined by the EU on countless occasions for the infraction but continues to collect this ILLEGAL revenue stream because it is still profitable enough to do so...
While speaking with a friend in the new car sales business yesterday, he confirmed to me that a few years back a staggering 51% of the total take on new cars in Ireland was government revenue, divided into two particular tax types...
While I dont know the precise split i will research and get back...
This is plainly the stuff of bad dreams, but wait, theres more...
You can get a new car now for as little as 9995 euros on the road, however, thats only for around another week or so...
Dealers are desperatly trying to push for last minute sales and along with what appears to be another "gimmick" are dropping the dealer delivery and related charges, again, im not in posession of the exact figures, but i believe thats another 500 or so euros...THEY COULD HAVE DONE IT SOONER....
While having a new car is nice enough, its worth keeping in mind, The Irish public is being milked at every turn...
Kinda makes me mad...but then again, I wouldn't buy a new car on account of depreciation...
But thats just me!....
