What does CS need?

We have 'blogs', 'polls', 'poetry' etc...

It would be cool if CS had a story writing section as well.

Anyone else think of another feature?

Is it possible..

to hold an interesting conversation with a girl beyond the 7th and 8th emails?

It’s obvious the guy has to initiate the conversation, but I always feel that I have to carry the weight of the conversation and that annoys me. It should be a two way thing.

Perhaps I have a short attention span; it just seems most girls I’ve spoken to don’t generate any interesting conversation. This blog will ultimately have other users question my ability to communicate and I’m aware of that, I’m simply asking whether or not any other people out there have shared the same experience.

Don't Rest Your Head (Revised and Reposted)

Don’t Rest Your Head is a sleek, dangerous little role-playing game, where your players are all insomniac protagonists with superpowers, fighting — and using — exhaustion and madness to stay alive, and awake for just one more night, in a reality gone way wrong called the Mad City.

Essentially there are two cities, ‘The Slumbering’ and the ‘Mad’. The first is where people live and sleep, the second; a place only noticeable by those who can sleep no longer. This of course leads to the name given to them, ‘The Awake’.

Access to the ‘Mad City’ by the awake, can be taken from almost anywhere, under ones bed, down a street not seen before, or even into a wall. It cannot be seen by those who are not awake; and if an awake uses one of these ‘portals’, those who are not awake see that person leave by some other logical means, as their brains do not interpret for what truly happened.

The Mad City is surrealism at its best. Districts compacted together, denizens of different times and of course, nightmares. Beware the 13th Hour.

Districts have different rules, they look they smell and they behave differently.
One such district I created myself is a place known as Perfect-Ville. A place set back in the 1950’s where everything is coloured in sepia tone, people FOLLOW THE RULES. The citizens always smile, ALWAYS SMILE. You may have wondered about the caps? That is because these are the rules to ‘survive this district’. If either of these rules is not followed, civilians will often reveal their true form; transforming into hellish nightmares that feast on flesh and souls.

Most denizens that make up the mad city are just regular people, except they have no previous memory of who they were, only sticking to the role that they did previous.

Barterers always sell and trade items, police will always be on duty, winemakers will always distil etc. However, the types of denizens that make up a district to district are completely different. For the main part of the city they may appear from all different time periods, from BC to AD periods. For instance, London folk of 1840 might be walking down the street with Roman Guards 750 BC.

Nightmares, they come in various forms. Some obvious, others hiding under the fragile appearance of another citizen. They can be both complex in nature and very simple, yet most are after eating the awake. Most often are symbolic or metaphoric of everyday fears, tax, death, terrorism, identity theft etc...
An example of a nightmare prevalent in District 13 of the city is the Tacks Man.
The Tacks man is force behind District 13’s Night bureaucracy. A plastic push-pin sits atop of his shoulders instead of a head, and his fingers all come to metallic points. He is dressed impeccably in the uniform of a political power, a business suit that never gets dirty or mussed.
When the Tacks Man goes after his quarry, he’s not interested in taking it whole. He wants something his target has, and all he needs to do is get nearby to claim it. Removing one of his fingers, he can pin something of his target to the spot – maybe he’ll pin an arm to the ground with it, or nail the last moments spent with a now-dead lover to his wall of trophies. When the Tacks Man kills someone, he does it by degrees. The longer the pain, the higher the yield.

Then there is the 13th hour. Unlike the Sleeping cities normal 12 hours clock, the Mad City has 13 hours. On this hour, the gateways between the sleep city and that of the Mad are locked. Nightmares on this particular hour look to feed on the awake specifically.

If you have any ideas for a civilian, a district or a nightmare, please feel free to post it below.

You know that feeling?

That overwhelming feeling when something evokes and captivates a sensation which lingers on after the stimulous has parted..

Perhaps it was a picture, the smell of rain or being greeted by a sunrise.

It's a strong sensation felt deep down in the core of every person, and it has the power to sway our decisions greatly.

Can you think of a time when you've experienced such a provocative emotion?

Don't Rest Your Head (Part 1)

Howdy all, i've got writers block for a little role playing game known as don't rest your head. Essentially the game draws inspiration from such sources as:

-The movie "Dark City"
-The Book "Nightside" by Simon Greens
-The Book "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman

Other sources of inspirations that could be noted include:
-that twisted version of alice in wonder land
-The movie "Fear and lothin' in Las Vegas"
-The movie "A Clock Work Orange"
-and with some if any connections to the idea of the matrix.

I'm not the best at explaining things, so heres a little more from the game pages itself...

You can’t sleep. It started like that for all of us, back when we were garden variety insomniacs. Maybe you had nightmares (God knows we all do now), or maybe you just had problems that wouldn’t let you sleep. Hell, maybe you were just over-caffienated. But then something clicked.

That was when you took a long walk down the streets of the Mad City, stopped being a Sleeper, and started being Awake. But that click you heard wasn’t from the secret world snapping into place. It was the sound of the Nightmares flicking off the safety and pointing a gun at your head.

They can smell you. The Paper Boys are closing in, and you’d better pray you don’t become a headline. You’re chum in the water, my friend, and it’s time you got ready for it… before the clock chimes thirteen again. Now that you’re one of us, there’s just one simple rule left that must dominate your life.

Stay Awake. Don’t Rest Your Head.

Movies

Good old me not being able to sleep again ended up watching some 'movies' or 'mind F#@K' movies. When I make reference to that kinda stuff, I make reference to awesome movies like "Fight Club" and the butter-fly effect.

If any you guys out there thought those movies were win, grab yourself a copy of the movie "The Jacket".

What can I say.. A movie that was only lightly predictable but freakin awesome.

Me gives it an 8/10

Nom-noms on some psychology..

To understand yourself, you must first understand how a belief is formed. It is the feeling which is the convincer.
