Religions - Allowed and Forbidden Relationships

Who do you associate with? dunno
Who are your friends? buddies
Who do you avoid? uh oh

Our outlook on religion tends to become a big part of who we are. It often determines our friendships and may even affect where we work. It can affect our education... our politics... our finances... where we live... and ... who we marry.

Do you exclude people from your relationships (friends or romantic interests) because of their religion? Who is compatible and who isn't?

The Religion list on CS is...
1) Atheist
2) Buddhist/Taoist
3) Christian/Catholic
4) Christian/Protestant
5) Christian/LDS (Latter Day Saints - Mormon)
6) Christian/Other
7) Hindu
8) Jewish
9) Muslim/Islamic
10) New Age
11) Non-religious
12) Agnostic
13) Spiritual but not religious

I am 4) ... I would prefer to have friends with all religious outlooks. My religion tells me to love everyone... no exclusions. Also, my religion does not forbid me from being friends (or even marrying) anyone. Some may advise against those of certain religions, but if my choice were made, they would accept it.

Are there religions who would forbid their followers from having a relationship with me? Would they forbid/discourage friendship or just marriage? dunno

You do not need to answer my questions... or talk about anything personal. Thank you. tip hat

EE9 - Joy and Peace

The last chapter on Emotional Energy. applause

**

Say it with me now ... s-l-o-w-l-y ...
> Breath in Joy and Peace. Breath out Fear and Anger.
- again -
> Breath in Joy and Peace. Breath out Fear and Anger.

**

Have you figured out that it's actually all within your control?

This is a skill. We need to put some effort into developing it. Can you imagine what it might be like to be fully in control of our reactions and feelings? wow

Someone is upset... we only feel calmness and are able to share this with them.

Someone is angry... we only feel understanding and appreciation.

Someone is in pain... we feel only compassion.

Someone is rude... we feel understanding and gentleness.

Someone is joyful... and we choose to share their joy. yay

Someone is happy... and we choose to smile with them. grin

Someone is loving... and we choose to feel love. heart wings

**

I'm still an amateur... but I'm learning more every day. Please work on your own skills and be generous with your experiences.

World peace ... one wonders ... is this one of the ways?

Ode to Joy... (of course, the best part, is about 3 minutes in, when the brass starts playing grin )

EE8 - Mean to Me

Does it feel like other people want to take away your Emotional Energy? dunno

> Why does this happen?
> Do they want it for themselves?
> Do they just want to make sure you don't have it?
> Do other people even know when they are doing this?
> Do you allow it?
> How do you stop it?

**

Since I can think of many stories to tell, I imagine each of us has many stories. I think we are all guilty of taking emotional energy away from others too.

When someone is mean ... when someone seeks revenge ... shows anger ... shows jealousy ... (what else should be on this this?)

And ... smooth jazz ... laugh Here's "Mean to Me"

EE6 - Locus of Control

Are you an "innie" or an "outie"? laugh

**

From the Wikipedia description...

Internal locus of control -
- belief that events in our lives are due to our own actions
- when receiving test results, people tend to praise or blame themselves and their abilities

External locus of control -
- people tend to praise or blame an external factor such as the teacher or the test

-also-

Many internals have grown up with families modeling typical internal beliefs; these families emphasized effort, education, responsibility and thinking, and parents typically gave their children rewards they had promised them.

In contrast, externals are typically associated with lower socioeconomic status. Societies experiencing social unrest increase the expectancy of being out-of-control; therefore, people in such societies become more external.

Regarding Emotional Energy and Self-Esteem, it would seem that having an *internal* locus of control would be more helpful.

What does this require? dunno

Do you feel you are your own boss? Do you feel free to do the things you believe are necessary?

Do you feel trapped and stuck in your current job or situation? Does government or culture or religion or poverty or education keep you from doing what you want/need to do?

**

There is no need to answer the questions ... but I am interested in your thoughts. I wonder about things like this ... in what situations we benefit from being in control and the situations where it may be best for others to have control over us.

It's dark out tonight hole ... same thing happened last night ... light bulbs are awesome! lightbulb ... laugh

EE4 - Love, Kindness, and Charity

Where do you get yours?

--

From Others -

Many people look to those around them and hope to feel loved, to have kindness extended to them and to receive charity (I'm thinking of this as good intentions and forgiveness).

Receiving these things from people we respect feels good, doesn't it? hug

--

From Association with Groups (including Religion) -

Some groups are good at fostering these characteristics in their members. To love each other... to be kind... to be charitable with our time, resources and good feelings.

--

From Ourselves -

Do you feel love for yourself? Hopefully you do... Do you treat yourself with kindness? Do you forgive yourself when mistakes happen... when you don't meet your own standards?

Emotional Energy - Blog 3

The economics of mental health. (Can these words be used together? laugh )

Economics is about creating wealth; where prosperity comes from, how it gets passed around, and what can ruin it.

Install a water well in a remote village and you've created economic value by saving the time/labor needed to collect water. Install water filters and there is more value because people will be healthier and more able to work. If you take these things away, the value goes away. If the river also dries up, they've lost even more economic value. blues

**

With emotional energy... We talked about how we gain it and how we loose it in Blogs 1 and 2. Now... the economics...

1. Can it be created? Where does it come from?
2. Can it be shared?
3. Can it be destroyed?
4. Can it be preserved and protected?

Comments on the weather and your favorite sports team are also welcome. cheers

I'm up too late and too early (it's 2:30 am) ... but wanted to get this started... and now will try sleep again :) sleep

Emotional Energy - Blog 2

A huge THANK YOU to those who contributed to "Blog 1"! dancing dog

Emotional Energy -
- Emotional Health
- Mental Health/Stability
- Degree of Confidence
- Health of Ego
- Sense of Well-Being

We made a list of things big and small, that help boost and increase our Emotional Energy.

Now it's time to look at the other side...

--

What causes a drop/decrease in our Emotional Energy?

Whether the effect is short term or long term, big or small, what pulls our mood down and makes our outlook more gloomy?

I always think of a song... there is poetry and music for every topic it seems. wave

Emotional Energy - Blog 1

Emotional Energy is the term I like to use for this. It could also be thought of as...

- Emotional Health
- Mental Health/Stability
- Degree of Confidence
- Health of Ego
- Sense of Well-Being

I think we all have a base level of Emotional Energy that changes in response to the circumstances and events in our lives and how we react to them.

This is related to happiness, optimism, security, control, comfort, understanding and many other facets that contribute to the optimistic side of our outlook.

There are things that provide a temporary boost (like caffeine or adrenaline) and there are things that can maintain and improve our base/normal level of Emotional Energy on a long-term basis like overall good health, living in a supportive environment or participating in an activity that provides fulfillment.

Note: This is based on my own outlook/opinion... which is always open for revision. cool

**

I'd like to start a list... if you're willing to assist. handshake

What helps increase and improve our level of Emotional Energy?

What events and behaviors help boost Emotional Energy and do they offer a short-term boost or long-term support?

**

Feel free to comment on the topic itself... I continue to work on ways to express this idea.

**

As this is an optimistic topic... here's "Blue Skies".

Spring Colors

Decisions - What to Choose

How to decide...

> Talk about it with friends/family?

> Talk about it with the dog (or a friend's dog laugh )?

> Think it through on my own.

> Just put the car in gear and go!

What do you do?
What should I do?

I'm an idealist ... but perhaps I'll get better ..

I've been enjoying music on YouTube tonight... mostly songs from my teen years in the 1970's ... I thought I'd share this one ... from another idealist.

Let's see if I remember how to do this... confused laugh
