'Morning Star'

It would seem that no matter what the night was like to awake and see a beautiful sunrise give one such a sense of 'renewal.' To see the sun's reflection dancing off the surface off a lake or coming up from behind a mountain range inspires a surge within to go out and seize the day. To feel the sun's warmth upon your face as you take an early morning shoreline walk gives a type of exhilaration that could only be explained as a 'natural' high. We miss the sun's radiance when there's cloud cover, some might even say there's a sort of 'sadness' that sets in. Kids can't wait to run and play when the sun shines! Yes, the sun is indeed our 'Morning Star' we look forward each day to its guiding light to help us find our way through another day. In many ways the sun is a symbol of hope and new beginning something all living beings need to survive. So may that bright, wonderful, and amazingly invigorating sun forever shine on us all! thumbs up

'The Endeavour Comes Home'

applause applause How very exciting it was to watch as the Space Shuttle 'Endeavour' flew over our home! This wonderful space vehicle atop a modified Boeing 747-100, and flanked by the two 'chase' fighter jets were indeed a 'once in a lifetime' sight to see. As I watched the flyover, I thought back to the time some thirty years ago of how overjoyed I felt to see it liftoff for the first time in Florida! What a thrilling end to an absolutely amazing segment to our Space Program! In its New home The California Science Center, millions of visitors worldwide will have the opportunity to see this remarkable craft. wave Welcome home Endeavour, you've made us all so proud!

'Freedom Of Speech...At What Price?'

Looking back at the events of last week after the release of the anti-Islam film which I'm sorry to say was produced here in California, I ask, how 'free' should we be with our speech? When the 'fathers' of our nation penned the 'First Amendment' therefore affording us the right to free speech the intent was to rid the restraints of the 'Old World.' That being not being able to voice one's opinions without retribution. With that in mind in those days they weren't without their problems or enemies, so they realized that even 'freedom' wasn't totally 'free!' We have the right to express ourselves without restriction, but within reason. It's a well known fact that we can't shout 'FIRE' in a crowded building for there would be pandemonium and people would be injured, quite possibly killed. Common sense has to utilized in everything we do, even when it comes down to speaking freely. In-as-much-as we live in a very dangerous society in which anything said can cause chaos with the end result being the loss of life, with the utter devastation being the loss of 'innocent lives' I again ask the question..."How Free Should Our Speech Be?" My view is that it should 'never' be that free that it becomes a national threat to our people here in the U.S.A. and especially not to our citizens abroad! Now there is much unrest in many nations just because someone was a little bit 'too' free in their speech causing devastating effects that will go on for who knows how long, and at the cost of how many more lives? An inspiring phase come to mind here, "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility." Yes the power to speak freely is a great one, to utilize it in a sensible responsible manner is the greatest freedom of them all!thumbs up

'24 Hours'

As a child I was taught there are twenty four hours in a day. Now that in and of itself isn't 'Earth Shattering' news, but its implication was the big draw! That being 12 hours to mind 'your' business, and 12 hours to keep your nose 'out' of the business of others! Naturally we as Americans think/believe that our system of government is the greatest in the world, and for the most part it is. However with the events of recent years it hasn't seemingly been in our best interests to 'push' our views on other nations especially when said nations have expressed the desire 'not' to have our 'democratic' way as part of their life. While we may not agree with the way people in other countries run them, it's their country, it's their business! Quite frankly speaking we still have more of our share of problems right here in our 'own' country the are in extreme need of repair! So before telling someone else that their 'backyard' is a mess make sure 'your's' is totally clean! In my view if recent American leaders invested more of their time in the 'affairs' of this country instead of 'foreign' ones we'd perhaps be in much better shape than we are. Talk about protecting our 'interests' abroad and seemingly we can't even protect our diplomatic compounds over there! The problems we face as Americans today might not be so great if only our elected officials learn that little '24 Hour' philosophy. professor

Looking around at the various profiles on the 'Top 100' I can see some of the members have been quite busy! I too have been working to make my profile the best it can be, and man does it take some effort. I've gotten positive feedback/responses and its much appreciated. 'Collections'

doh For my 14th birthday as one of my gifts I received two 18th scale die cast model cars. Since then those two cars have grown into a collection of well over 368! 'Lord Mr. Ford, what have I done?' I've got them everywhere except the bathroom and kitchen, (oopsie, there might be a couple on the microwave!laugh) well I guess 'I' could always move out and make more room! I feel like Jay Leno in miniature here. Boys and their toys right? I was curious as to how many of CS members out there are collectors and what it is that you collect? Looking forward to your answers, I'd better get going I've got a lot of cars to polish! rolling on the floor laughing

'The Hole In My Soul'

I've got a 'hole' in my soul that can easily be filled with music! Like everyone I've seen some tough and tragic times, but what has 'always' been there for me is music. To pop in some of my favorite tunes and hit the road or the sky erases any tension or anxiety I might have. On those occasions when I'm angry enough to 'chew' my way through galvanized steel, I grab my music and go for a long walk. Soon I'm back in stride again, no matter my choice contingent on my mood, my music fills 'the hole in my soul.'dancing
