On a waiting list - 964 people in front of me!

It's no secret that where I live at the moment is a bit.. Well, let's call it 'straining'.. Just to recap: I live with a friend, who is, according to him, an alpha male. He is vastly different than me. I have no problem with leaving dishes unwashed for a day or leaving crumbs on the stove for the next day as well. But as long as I don't have my own place, I am forced to live here, since I do not know anyone who has a spare room available. So I am telling myself to suck it up and do the best I can to not irk his fragile ego. However, not having my own place is slowly changing. I am number 965 in the line for an apartment, and I have been waiting since September last year. I am paying a yearly fee to be put on a waiting list, which is a pretty low amount ($37.66, to be exact). Not the type of fee that will break my bank account. I do have a savings account, that I am putting money in when I can. So far it's going pretty well. I am up to a pretty healthy amount, so I am pretty much just waiting to hear from the landlord, when it's my turn to get a place of my own to live. If it takes too long, I will probably just see if there is a room available in my city. Or, if that fails, see if there is a room available in Copenhagen. That means switching municipalities, which is as easy as letting out a fart after eating too much Mexican food. When I get my own place, the first thing I am getting is curtains. What I have right now is one of these roller blinds, that aren't really covering the entire window. What I am gonna get, is one of those proper curtains - blackout, naturally. The smallest bit of light in my face, and I am awake. It's SO annoying! I am also slowly building up a pretty sizeable amount of kitchen appliances. At the moment, I have a toaster and a juicer. I am planning on slowly buying more, but I don't know where to put them at the moment, since it's limited with space. Anything I buy, I have to store in my 10 square meter bedroom that I am renting. Anyway! Once I do finally get that apartment, you best believe I will blog about it!

I mentioned food earlier - I am getting paid tomorrow, and I watched this YouTube video where a guy was eating Texas barbecue. Wow that looked good! That gave me a desire to make some bomb a** food tomorrow, after lunchtime, because Bob is cleaning the floor from 10 am to lunchtime. In case you were wondering, Bob is the roomba. But I can easily find something to entertain me, while that goes on. WandaVision is tomorrow, and I have found Planet Coaster on offer, so I am most likely gonna play that as well. But after lunch time, you can be dang sure I am gonna spend some money on some good quality food!

Bet!

Covid test and plans for tomorrow, Sunday!

The day before yesterday, I was booked in for a covid test, to see if I had any remnants of the virus in my system. I kind of knew the answer to begin with, but it would be nice to have confirmation on my suspicion. (I spelled suspicion right the first time, look at me go, Henry!).. Anyway..

The result came back today. It was negative! cheering. I do feel a lot better now than I did a month ago, that is for sure! However, there are some changes that I can report: Mainly, the cheese thing. You see, before I got sick, whenever I ate cheese, my body would reject it. These past few days, I have eaten pizzas with plenty of cheese. Before I got sick, even that kind of cheese would end up with me having a bad time. Now, nothing. To see if I was just lucky, I decided to eat two pizzas three days ago. Nothing. No rumbly stomach. No.. How can I put this.. Hurty-ouchie-passing-of-the-food.. I will try with a slice of cheese tomorrow, to see if I really CAN start eating cheese again.

Tomorrow is Sunday, and what better way to spend that day with some good, bloody entertainment! I am, naturally, talking about my Predator films. I am gonna watch them all in a row! 4 films, totaling 409 minutes, or just around 7 hours. My record of movies in a row is 8 Bond films. 18 hours straight! That was a long day, but a fun day! I am guessing that tomorrow will be a great day as well!

Zack Snyder's Justice League! Yes, please!

A few years back, in 2017 to be exact, Justice League was released in cinemas, out to deliver some justice for DC fans. See what I did there? Anyway.. The movie was awful, because two different directors worked on it. First, Zack Snyder was picked to direct the big blockbuster film, but he had to step aside during the post production, to deal with his daughter's death. Joss Whedon took over, and embarked on a 25 million dollar re-shoot rampage, where he pretty much changed the tone of the film. It's a complicated mess that will take forever to explain. I will therefore move on to The Snyder Cut, which fans wanted ever since the release of the 2017 movie. Talks about the Snyder cut was all over the internet, but it was said, that it would never ever happen. Fast forward three years, to February 2020, where Zack Snyder confirmed, that there would be a version of the film, known as Zack Snyder's Justice League - or The Snyder Cut. Fans were ecstatic, of course. They would finally get a version of the film, that shows how Zack Snyder wanted the movie to be. They also confirmed the run time: 240 minutes, or 4 hours. At first it was reported, that the movie would be split into 4 parts, but it was later revealed, that it would be one long film.

The trailer for the movie dropped today, and it just looks epic! Much better than the 2017 version. This one is rated R, for violence and some language. There is one sequence in the trailer, that shows bloodshed, so hopefully there will be some more bloodshed. After all, this is a superhero film with a lot of swords, guns and fighting.

The Snyder Cut will go to HBO Max and HBO Nordic in selected European territories, on the 18th of March

Predator films + a birthday

A while back, I watched a Kill Count for Predator 2, which made me want to watch all the movies again. However, no streaming service had them, so I went on Amazon to find them. I found a pretty cool 4-pack, so I bought that, with delivery expected a week later. Five days later, it still hadn't left the warehouse. "Hm, odd. Oh well, they'll arrive eventually", was my immediate thought.

Then, on the 6th, an email ticked in.. "Your order has been shipped. Estimated delivery day: 19th of February".. That made no sense, since packages from England usually arrive at my door about a week after being shipped. Here, I had to wait for thirteen days. Oh well, they would eventually arrive. Fast forward to the 11th, where a text came to my phone. The mail carrier had been trying to deliver my Predator films, but nobody was home, which made sense, since I put my mother's address on the package, and she was at work when they tried to deliver. I could pick it up the following day. Which I did, as early as possible. At 8.30 am, I was standing where the package was held. "Hello, please find my package for me". So they did. After that, I thought to myself, that I deserved some breakfast. I put the McDonald's in my sights, and set off. I spent the equivalent of $10.59 there, and the breakfast was stellar! A McToast bacon and two McMuffin - one with sausage and one with egg. After I took the first bite, I thought "Oh wait, I can't eat cheese. My stomach is not gonna like it.. Oh well, I have taken a bite. Might as well finish these things and deal with the consequences later".. I waited.. And waited.. For that telltale sign, that my stomach was punishing me for eating cheese. But nothing happened for the entire day. Maybe I was just lucky that day? I will not push my luck, though.

It just occurred to me, that I am very descriptive in my blogs.. Maybe I should tone that down in future blogs.. I'll deal with that later.

Yesterday, I didn't do anything special. I mainly watched the impeachment trial of Trump. It was actually quite fascinating, but I do thing that Michael van der Veen needs a class in anger management. That guy was seriously angry at times, almost to the point of shouting. He came across as a guy who likes to be the loudest person in the room, and the person whose opinion is the correct one, despite what evidence says. I also went shopping for some food and a birthday gift for my sister, whose 29th birthday was yesterday. She and her boyfriend were headed for a hotel stay, which is the reason there was no birthday celebration yesterday. That will happen on Monday, with some good, homemade food. And plenty of it, because when we eat, boy do we eat!

Today I haven't really done anything yet, but it's only 2 pm, so there is plenty of time to start some stuff. I need to wrap my sister's birthday present. I also need to look for two jobs, since that is required of me, in order to qualify for payment each month. I have to do that every week. Apply for two jobs. Sometimes it's tricky, because there are only so many jobs I am qualified for. Hopefully I will find something. Maybe I will start a career as a streamer, or maybe I will pick up writing. Time will tell!

Restarting my cooking adventure!

I am pretty adventurous in the kitchen. I love to come up with some good ideas for food. For example: Yesterday, I had four brioche buns with pulled pork. But before I could eat, I had a brainwave: What if I put the buns in the oven for about a minutes time? Maybe that will improve the experience.. It did! The buns were just on the light crispy stage, that I consider the sweet spot! Lemme tell you, it was amazing! It made me think about what else to make. I had some chicken strips in the fridge, and I have a one-person meal of a dish we here call svensk pølseret. Translated to English, it's 'Swedish sausage dish'. It's VERY tasty! It has sausages (obviously), potatoes, onion and a special sauce that's so damn tasty! Anyway, I was wondering how chicken would taste in that dish, so I cooked up some chicken strips, and threw them in the fridge for tomorrow. I will then take half of the chicken and mix it into the sausage dish, just to see how it will taste. I am NOT going outside tomorrow, since I did some food shopping today. I bought enough food for five days, so I am good! And yes, I also bought some more to drink, since I was running low.

Now I just need to figure out what to eat the rest of the week. I have a frozen meal that I can eat one day, and I have some fish and chicken in the freezer, that I can cook up. I also have a bag of hash that I can cook up. For those of you that don't know what hash is, it's a culinary dish consisting of chopped meat, potatoes, and fried onions. The name is derived from French: hacher, meaning "to chop". It originated as a way to use up leftovers. In the USA by the 1860s, a cheap restaurant was called a "hash house" or "hashery.". Put some ketchup and a fried egg on it, and it's just to DIE for! Well, not LITERALLY to die for, but you get the meaning. I hope. Finally I also have a very Danish dish, that consists of rice, meat balls and a curry sauce! Great comfort food, particularly these days where it's cold and the weather is bad!

I have never really been a good cook. My parents never really taught me to cook. I had my first real cooking experience when I moved to Scotland in 2014. It was a HUGE wake-up call for me. Suddenly I had to do everything myself. I guess I was a pretty oblivious person, now that I think about it.. Anyway.. I mainly lived on frozen food, at least for the first five months. After that, I thought 'I don't want to eat frozen food things forever', so I upgraded to nuggets and fries, and then I branched out to steaks and fries. Lots of fries, for some reason. They are cheap and everyone loves them. Did I eat veggies? Of course! But not as much as I should have done. It's the same story now that I am in Denmark. The last time I ate any sort of vegetable, was when I had cucumber on my lunch last week. Wow, I really need to just eat a salad at some point.

My roommate is, according to himself, an EXCELLENT cook. I beg to differ! For instance, when he cooks pasta, he puts oil - yes oil - into the water. When I suggested that the only thing you really need to cook pasta is water and salt, he was ADAMANT that it was wrong, and his way was the correct way that all the chefs cook pasta. I know a few Italian people who would go 'Mamma mia' if they saw how he cooked pasta. But each to their own, I suppose. If he wants to use oil to cook pasta, then that's what he will use. The pot just gets VERY greasy and yucky after cooking with the oil in, whereas my pot will just be wet. I also finally learned how to cook rice - because I use boil-in-bag rice grin. Just follow the instructions, and the rice will be perfect every time.

I'm sorry this blog is a bit long, but sometimes I have a lot to say. Mostly about nothing, but today was about food! By the way, if you have any suggestions for recipes, please let me know in a comment. I'll then cook it and let you know how it was. Just don't make them expensive or super tricky. I am still a novice in cooking. Somewhat.

Greenland - a review!

2020 was widely regarded as the worst year in modern history, but it did give us some great films, such as Soul, Tenet and the new apocalypse drama Greenland. So, what is Greenland about?

Starring Gerard Butler as John Garrity and Morena Baccarin as Allison Garrity, they play an estranged couple, who is struggling to survive in the face of a cataclysmic natural disaster. The trailers make it seem like an action packed apocalypse thriller, but it's not. What it is, is a drama with an apocalypse as backdrop. The estranged couple, along with their seven year old son Nathan, is selected by the government to be relocated to a safe location, which is classified. Along the way to safety, the family faces various challenges as well as some desperate people.

My roommate and his girlfriend didn't like it, but I did. It's refreshing to see Gerard Butler in a drama, rather than in an action flick. I do like him in action films, but it's nice to see his acting spans other genres than action. I know he's been in romantic stuff as well, but I haven't seen those films, since they aren't really my thing.

Anyway! The rest of the core cast consists of Roger Dale Floyd as Nathan and Scott Glenn as Allison's father, Dale.

Greenland is a great watch, if you are in the mood for a character driven drama set in an apocalypse which might or might not happen. However, parents might find two particular scenes hard to watch, since it deals with a parents worst nightmare. Still, if you want to kill two hours and enjoy Gerard Butler speaking with his normal Scottish accent, then this movie might just be for you!

8/10

Greenland is avaliable on VOD now!

Meeting up with K again after a while!

These past few days, I have been talking with K, and I have told her, that I can spend some time with her next weekend, since I do not have any plans by then. I am just waiting for a reply.

It's gonna be nice seeing her again, since it has been a while since the last time we hung out. It was sometime last year we had the chance to hang out, so hopefully she'll be able to meet up next weekend. I must remind myself to bring the PS4 slim I have here with me. I am not using it, since I have a Pro, so I thought why not gift it to K. I asked her if she wanted it, and she said yes. I might include some games as well, but there are free games with PS+ every month. This months games doesn't interest me, but I do have a bunch of other games to play and complete.

Anyway, where was I.. Ah yes, meeting up with K.. I might actually ask her if we are gonna eat dinner together (not that kind of dinner. More like an evening meal). I bet she'll say yes, because we've done that before, which was a huge success. I just need to figure out what to suggest to eat. I might just go with a steak, fries, greens and bearnaise sauce. Lovely food! But we'll see what happens. It might just be something easy, like a trip to McDonald's. 20 nug nugs, salad dressing and a large soda would suit me just fine, since my body is rejecting cheese crying. I love cheese, so this is a disaster! Maybe I will give vegan cheese a chance.

But I do hope K can get together next weekend! If not, well that's fine too

My Demolition Ranch shirt has arrived!

A week ago, I ordered a brand new shirt from Bunker Branding, which is the business that is owned my the guy behind the YouTube channel Demolition Ranch. It's a very cool shirt, and it's my first ever purchase with the company. Everything went smooth, with no disasters! What does the shirt look like, I hear you ask? Well.. Like this:

Embedded image from another site

I like the design, but it was a bit.. Expensive.. 25 dollars on the shop, but 36.46 dollars in shipping, so the total price was 61.46 dollars!

However, it's worth it, because the quality is amazing! It's amazing when you have a smooth experience with a company! I will definitely be a returning customer there!

Back to regular life!

It's the 5th of February today - one month and one day after I was told I had covid. I feel back to normal again, which is absolutely fantastic. That means I can get back to normal life again - which means video gaming and job hunting. Naturally, I am also going to go outside when I need food, which should be sometime after the weekend. I am well stocked, so I am not required to go outside this weekend. I also finally did my laundry after over a month of not washing any clothes. Freshly laundered clothes is just the best!

It also means I am falling into my old routines. Wake up, put clothes on, turn on my PlayStation, boot up YouTube and watch the following: Videos from Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon and Nightly News. Then, if I stumble across something interesting, I'll watch that. Like CNN, Fox News, OANN, ABC News and what else I find interesting. OANN haven't uploaded in three weeks, because of their suspension regarding Covid misinformation. On the subject of misinformation - Smartmatic sued a few people for $2.7 billion. Ouch!

Anyway, after my YouTube spree, I might catch up on tv shows, play a few games and then going on the hunt for a job. At least until August, when I will enroll in the education I had to skip due to not being 100%. I hope I can find something to do until then. But if not, then that's okay too. The most important thing is being happy and healthy *peewoop* (bonus points if you know where that is from)

First trip out since covid. Super descriptive blog!

The day finally arrived. Yesterday, I could go outside again. So I gathered my bags, my debit card, my face mask and then I went outside. Let me tell you, after being sick for around two and a half weeks time, things are NOT normal, particularly when you still have some late sequelae left in your system. The thing about covid, is that it's a lung based disease, so it WILL affect your breathing, if you show symptoms. Even after you have beaten the illness, if can still have a lingering effect.

Anyway, I reached the store, breathing heavily. I bought all the things I needed, which was food, drinks and snacks. It wasn't that expensive, which I am very happy with. I picked the cheapest things anyway, except with the drinks. Only premium drinks enter my body, thank you very much!

After I paid, I went outside to pack, and then I set my course towards home. Now, this part of the journey took a LOT out of me, since I was lugging heavy stuff around. I had to stop several times to get my breath back. It made me a bit nervous, and a bit annoyed, since I had an appointment with my mother later that day. But I got home, hauled the heavy stuff up to my door, and then I had to take a break again. Finally I managed to pull myself together enough to haul the stuff inside, and put the food in the fridge. I took it slowly, which made it a lot easier to cope with. The trip yesterday told me, that I wasn't ready for hauling heavy stuff just yet. But I did it, which I consider a HUGE win for me.

The trip to my mothers place was a LOT better. I took the bus, which saved me walking a lot. She was very happy to see me up and about, and I spent an hour there, just talking about my illness. I mentioned McDonald's, and that I wanted to get something from there, to which my mother said "Let's go together, I need to pick up a package from a package tower, and I need your help to find it". So off we went, and it went surprisingly well. No heavy breathing or anything, which was a huge relief. We found the tower, my mother got her package and off she went to buy her dinner. I decided to head to McDonald's and then home, so we parted ways. I told her not to worry about me, since I was doing much better than two weeks ago. With that, I set my course for McDonald's for my dinner. I know it's not the healthiest ever, but I was craving a McBacon SO bad, dude! I ordered the burger, but I made a mistake: I did not remove the cheese. You see, cheese is something my body is rejecting hard. Basicaly, I get a very upset stomach every time I eat cheese, which is a bummer for me.

Anyway, I took the bus home, since it stops closer to my home than the train does. Once I got home, it was straight onto my bed to watch YouTube videos. Covid has really made me super lazy.. And skinnier than before I got sick. I don't really mind it, though. I need to shed some kilos anyway!

My dinner was a beef bearnaise, which is the best thing ever! It's a frozen meal, that you pop in the oven for about 40 minutes. After that, just eat! Yum! By then, I was back to normal. My breathing was normal, and I felt great. Tomorrow I will try to see if a trip to the supermarket will be without heavy breathing. I need a few things, to make the BEST sandwiches ever!

Many of these things might not seem like major victories, but when you take into account just how sick I was, then these are MAJOR victories for me! Baby steps, yo!

I FINALLY get to go outside again!

I called my doctor a few days ago, and explained how I felt and how I was getting better every day. She told me, that if it didn't get worse by Monday, I was allowed to finally go outside again!

This is the news I have been waiting for! I am FINALLY allowed outside, since I am so far into the illness period, that the virus is dead. What I am experiencing now is known as late sequelae, which will disappear gradually. So these past few days, I have just been focusing on eating right, sleeping well and making sure, that my cough didn't get worse. So far, I have improved with regards to the cough, which makes me VERY happy.

My family is also happy, that I have beaten the virus. They were extremely worried, because I might have been more sick than they were. But I have assured them, that I am pretty much fit for fight again. So come Monday, I will finally be able to resume my regular life again!

Speaking of regular life.. I watched the Biden inauguration. It was great, even with all the security. I am NOT gonna touch on the swearing in, I am instead gonna focus on the entertainment. Let's start with Amanda Gorman. She was amazing! I am normally not into poetry, but it was fantastic! 22 years old with a bright future ahead of her. Then there was Lady Gaga and Garth Brooks, who were great as well.

But the real highlight (at least for me) was when Tyler Hubbard and Tim McGraw sang Undivided. What an amazing song! Give it a listen here:

Of course, Foo Fighters played as well, which was great, and Katy Perry sang Fireworks, while ACTUAL fireworks went off in the distance. John Legend BELTED out Feeling Good, which was amazing. All in all, the music was great, and I hope that some sort of normalcy is restored to The White House.

About that song Feeling Good.. That applies to me. I am feeling good. No tiredness, no joint pains and no covid!

Already thinking about my next travel adventure.

I know it might be a while before we are allowed to travel abroad again, but that has not stopped me from thinking about my next trip. At this moment, the trip will be a week in the United States, to visit a friend in Virginia. That, naturally, led me to look at how much flights are, and when I will have to buy the tickets.

Let's for arguments sake say, that we are allowed to travel again in August 2021, which is a possibility. That would make me able to travel in November, which is where these prices are found!

From Kastrup to Dulles, with stopover in London Heathrow. Departing Copenhagen on the 5th of November, and returning from the USA on the 12th of November. The cheapest is Basic Economy, which is the same type of ticket that my New York trip was: 2370 DKK. The regular Economy is 3210 DKK, while the most expensive ticket, the Premium Economy is 6769 DKK. Seeing as the cheapest ticket is all the way in the back of the flight, with payment to select seats and no luggage unless you pay, that ticket is ruled out. So the question then is: Do I go semi-expensive or do I just go full on luxury experience ticket? The regular Economy is $528 while the Premium Economy is $1115. Both tickets are within my price range, so I am not sure what to pick, if I am honest..

I have always wanted to travel in style, so maybe I should pick the most expensive one? Or maybe just get the semi-expensive, and then spend the remaining money on a nice pair of shoes? Or some new clothes, perhaps? I could easily find some great shoes for the remaining $587.. Or I could exchange them to dollars, and take them with me? So many options..
