My major interview was today. Yesterdays interview was just a short one, while today was the interview, that will determine if I get the job or not.
I had to complete some tests again. The first one was where i had to answer 16 questions. On that test, I had 93.33% correct, which put me at the top. The second test was designed to calculate my WPM. I ended with 56 WPM with 2 spelling errors, which landed me in the top 5% of results.
Next followed a series of questions, where I was asked about previous jobs. How I handled stress, how I was as a person and how I approach my job.
The entire interview was little less than an hour long, and it ended with the interviewer saying, that she didn't think I would have any issues with the job. That makes me think, that I am in with a very real shot of securing employment on a full time basis. The salary is also pretty good, which allows me to save up for a new place to live!
Fingers crossed that I will hear some positive news back from them! They said tomorrow or Monday at the latest!
An old school friend messaged me that on Friday, because of a Facebook post I made. I am low on funds, and food, and I am getting a payment on Tuesday. So I am stuck eating chicken burger patties, until I can afford something else.
So yesterday, I left for my friends place for some good food and the SpaceX launch! When I arrived, I was immediately placed in the sofa, and then we just hung out. Talking away. it's worth noting, that this isn't a female friend, but a guy I got to know in the 10th grade. Calm down, out there.
Anyway, the food was great, but a bit dry! He has a sous-vide cooker, which he used. It really does give a different taste to the meat. I really need to get one for myself at some point.
I was at his place for about 6 hours, which flew by. Particularly when we were watching the launch, which was fantastic, I might add.
In other news, K is moving into her own place soon. It's gonna be exciting to see the place she has. Also, stay safe in the USA! I have been following the news these past few days, and it's insane what happens there. I am not gonna go into a huge debate over politics and the whole BLM movement. At least not here. I am far more vocal about it on Twitter
I have just come home from my birthday celebration. It was so nice to spend some time with people that I like. My mother, aunt, brother, sister and K.
The dinner went down very well. I cooked Greek style dinner, which consisted of kebab with homemade pita bread and some homemade tzatziki sauce. The bread was amazing, the kebabs were just SO tasty and the tzatziki sauce was wonderful! Gifts? Well, I got that too. My sister gave me a plaque for my wall with the 5 rules of Bacon, and then I got a new razor for my face. My mother and brother gave me a gift certificate for IKEA, and K.. Well, K just gifted me the best thing ever: A bottle of champagne and some money in my savings account! My aunt only gives gifts to her kids, which is absolutely fine.
So today's 36th year birthday bash was a long one, but a good one. I did have a small freakout moment. I went to buy the minced lamb. When I got to the butcher's, there was no minced lamb in sight. I asked if they had any, to which the clerk replied: "No, but we have these chunks of lamb meat that I can grind up for you?".. Thank GOD for that! They saved my dinner plans!
K and I have already made some plan as to what will happen the next time we meet up. Might be dinner at her place, and then a movie. We'll see!
I went and did the main shopping today. Everything but the meat was bought today! I did have a setback, because for some reason, dry yeast is not available to get - at all. I tried three different shops, all were sold out. So I just bought some regular baking yeast. Anyway, the main thing is that I got most of the things I need. I just need the meat, which I am getting tomorrow.
K is extremely excited to join my birthday tomorrow, and I am excited to see her. Hopefully she likes the food, but I think she will.
Also, earlier today, I did some furniture assembly. My mother recently bought a bed and two cupboards in Ikea, and I was tasked with putting it together. The bed was a f*cking nightmare to put together. It measures 140x200, and it took me an hour and a half to put it together! Apparently that's fast, but I was completely shattered after I was done putting it together. It's heavy as f*ck and I SWORE to myself that I would never ever buy that bed! Never in my life again!
On a more lighter note - Birthday tomorrow!
It's my birthday on Saturday. I have invited my sister, brother, mother and aunt for some food Saturday evening. So we are going to be five people there. I also extended an invite to K. I asked her what she was doing on Saturday. Other than her heading out to her horse during the morning and early afternoon, she wasn't doing much. So I invited her. I am waiting for a reply as I am typing this.
My next thing to do is to cook some dinner for myself and then make a shopping list of all the things I need when I have to do my shopping on Saturday morning. I am starting early, at around 11 am. I am going to need all the time I can get, because I don't want to stress out. I am confident, that I will pull it off. I am gonna make everything from scratch. From the meat to the bread and the sauce. Well, I am not slaughtering a lamb and grinding the meat, though. I am not THAT thorough. I am gonna go to a local butchers to buy the meat there, which will undoubtedly be of a fantastic quality.
It's gonna be good! It has to!
I am in the middle of completing The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt on "Blood and Broken Bones" difficulty, which is hard. I am almost done with the story, and I just have to kill two bosses. One of the bosses is insanely irritating. Like, PROPERLY irritating. I think I am way too impatient, so I get killed fairly quickly. One of the times, I was SO close to killing him, and.. He kills me.. Rage sat in. I punched a bag of potato chips and threw my controller across the room. Wow I was frustrated! I will give it a go again later, and hopefully nail it this times.
Today I haven't done much. I made some food and played some WoW. I also called my temp agency, because they told me to. I was told, that I was needed at the place I was before, starting from the 29th of June. I am going to be there for about two months, which I am looking forward to a lot! It's gonna be nice to get back to work again!
So from now until then, I am still gonna apply for jobs. Which is fair enough!
About 5 hours ago, at 4 pm DK time, my phone rang. It was from the job I applied for the other day.
"Sweet! I can't wait to start", was my immediate thought.
"Hello, nice to talk to you again. We had a great conversation yesterday, and while we loved your demeanor, your smiling face and your voice, we don't feel like you would be the best fit for our company. We are very busy, and we simply don't dare employ someone who talks a bit too much. We have therefore decided to move on with a different candidate. Thank you for taking the time to talk with us yesterday! Have a great day"..
I wonder what else is out there.
I made a very, very long post on Facebook a while back, where I told people, that I had applied for 400 jobs, without hearing back from 394 of them. From that post, I got a bit of support, and a lot of people told me to apply for a lot of jobs.
So I did.
Usually, when I apply for a job, I either hear "Thanks for your application. We will get back to you as soon as possible" or "Thank you for taking the time to apply for the job. We will have a look through your application and get back to you". 98% of the time, they don't get back to me, which made me kind of want to give up on applying for jobs at all.
These past few days, I have received a flood of calls. "You applied for a job. Are you available for a chat?".. I mean, it only took a lengthy Facebook post for the people to get back to me. I even heard back from a job I applied for 3 year ago. "Are you still available for hire?" "I am, but I forgot what job it was for!" "Oh okay, I will send you the info in an email"..
But for now, I am waiting to hear back from the job I was interviewed for yesterday. I hope for a reply today. If not today, then on Monday!
Winning!
A few days ago, I applied for a job at a call center in Copenhagen. They are looking for new people to join their office, on a permanent business. After I applied, two tests ticked into my email. One in English, and one in Danish. I had to complete them ASAP. If the results were good, I would receive a call from them, to discuss further.
Today I got that call!
It was a short 10 minute conversation, where I was asked about various things. Like how I was planning on getting to the office, how old I was, where I lived and when I could start. They also revealed the salary, which is double my current payout. That is before taxes, though, but before bonuses and added payment during weekend and evening work.
The lady on the phone then told me, that they wouldn't call me, if I hadn't passed the tests, so I was pretty excited about hearing that.
So, tomorrow I have the second part of the interview. It's a video chat, that will last about an hour. After that, I will have to wait for the decision to be made. I hope it's a positive one, which will mean that I will get a permanent position, starting as soon as possible.
Fingers crossed, yo!
The place where I went on a shoot yesterday was in the same city that K lives in. She was around 10 minutes walk from the prison, which would be perfect for me to just say "Hey, so I am close to you now. Wanna meet?" But I knew she was eating at 6 pm, so I didn't want to drag her away from where she lived. As it turns out, she is at her parents place, which is in a completely different city, so it would not have been possible for us to meet up anyway. But, we have made some other arrangements.
She told me, that she might be available to meet up on Tuesday, so fingers crossed she will be able to meet up. "But wait, aren't you supposed to stay 2 metres apart?", I hear you ask. Not anymore! They have recommended, that 1 metre is plenty. No handshakes or hugs are allowed, so we'll just have to manage without it.
I asked K what she wanted to do, but she didn't really know. She asked me what I wanted to do, but she knows her city better than I do, so it would be up to her what we were going to do. She mentioned something about a park and a lake, so that is probably where we end up going. It'll be nice with a walk, particularly if the weather is great. These past few days have really shown itself from the best side, with cloud free days and temperatures in the double digits. So I am thinking a walk in the sunshine would be fantastic! I'll bring my camera to take some pictures. It's been a while since I have been using it, so it'll be nice to get it going again.
By the way, the campaign I was filming for will be shown once this corona epidemic is done here in Denmark. The latest projections say sometime in July or August, so it might be around September, hopefully. By then I can call myself a TV star (not really, though
)
But the main focus right now is to meet up with K and spend a few hours with her. I also need to find a gift for her when she moves into her new place, and I have found the exact thing: It's a table top game called X-Wing! The starter set to begin with, and then slowly expanding the game.
Also, the lottery is tomorrow, and fingers crossed that I will win something. If I do, and if the winnings are large enough, then I might just go and buy a place to live. Imagine putting down a massive amount of money and going "Key, please! Thank you!". There is a place for sale here in my town for $253.149. You might go "Wait, that's expensive", but actually it's not. The town I live in is notoriously expensive to buy a place in. But we will see what happens. No reason to get excited too early.
But for now, I will just relax and hunt for a job. Who knows, maybe I will find that perfect job for me!
Today was the day when I was gonna be an extra in a new ad campaign. I was excited, because I have never filmed in a prison before. Particularly not in a prison like this which is very famous. When I arrived, two people were already there. We got talking, and we joked around a bit. My first comment was "They finally got me!". They found that one pretty fun! The last few people came to the meeting point, so we were let in. The prison itself is old. It was opened in 1859, but was closed in 2017. Now the prison has been turned over to the local council, and they plan to include it in their urban development - whatever that means.
Anyway!
Once we were led in, we signed a NDA. I am not allowed to talk about what happened, but I am allowed to talk about the basic plot line of the campaign. Once we did that, we were led into a round area, where some chair were waiting for us. There, the costume department came by and looked at what we brought with us. I only had to wear the things I was wearing at the time, so it was pointless to bring a whole bag of clothes.
Once we were ready to start filming, we were assigned our positions. I had the hardest one - I had to lay in a sofa, pretending to play the guitar. After they got their scenes with the actors filmed, it was time for my/our close-up(s). I had to repeat what I did before, while they filmed every extra again. Once that was done, it was time for audio. Everyone went silent. The director looked at me, and said: "Right, what you need to do is play some random stuff. Just pick away, and let it flow."
Everyone looked at me and listened. The director gave me some pointers, like rummaging around in the sofa, making sure they got the sound of creaking leather. Now, I am not one to boast, but I nailed my take on the first attempt.
So to sum up: I spent around three hours in a sofa, playing a guitar.
Being an extra is exhausting.
The ad campaign will air here when this pandemic dies down, and they hire for new prison officers.
Seriously. I am going to jail on Wednesday... To shoot an infomercial about the Probation Service here in Denmark. The infomercial consists of 5 videos, that depict the life of an inmate in a prison, and how that prison would be like, without the Probation Service.
I will be on set for about 2 and a half hours, which is a pretty short shoot for me. I am used to 8+ hours of shooting, so a 2 an a half hour shoot is just amazing!
The set is in a old prison, that is no longer used. The primary use now is for movies and tv shows. The most famous example, is a series of movies called The Olsen Gang, where three friends embark on all sorts of weird and wonderful heists and scores. The movies are beloved here, so I am actually quite honored to be taking part in a shoot in that old prison.
I have been told that the catering there isn't the best, so I have to have something with me from home. But a 2 and a half hour shoot shouldn't be too demanding. Unless there's riots or something like that.
I'm looking forward to it!
