New York Trip Preparations - Part 4

As you might know by now, I am set to go to New York in less than two months. I have run into a small complication: The person I am supposed to visit, isn't responding to any of my messages. I was promised a message a few weeks ago, but that never came. I know she's active, because she're replying to other people - just not me, so I might face a cancellation. There is just one problem: My ticket is non-refundable.

What I COULD do, is find an air bnb, and stay there, if it's not too expensive. I'll decide in the coming days. If I haven't heard back from my friend by the end of the week, I am looking into changing the trip. There's also the whole corona virus thing. I am not worried, since good hygiene will keep the virus at bay. I am also probably too healthy to get the virus

General Commander - a review!

Steven Seagal movies are always hit and miss. Some, like Under Siege and Exit Wounds, are fantastic, and others, well not so much. I remember watching Shadow Man, where he downed a helicopter by shooting it with a pistol. It's ridiculous, silly and just so out there, that you just can't help but love it. This time, the mighty Seagal is a GRS operative named Jake Alexander. Him and his team of young recruits go after the most dangerous and notorious criminals with the help of a Hong Kong billionaire. That's the premise, now is it any good?

Well, in short terms: No. It is bad. Like, shockingly bad! I REALLY need to look up the movie on IMDb, before buying it.

Apart from Seagal, Sonia Couling, Byron Gibson, Soraya Torrens, Megan Brown, Jai Day and Edoardo Costa fill out the rest of the main cast,

Edoardo plays Orsini, the crime boss and the main villain in this film. He's actually pretty good in this one. He's a CLASSIC Italian mafia guy: Luxury pads on Malta, wine and pasta. Did I say classic? I meant stereotypical. He's into artwork as well. It just doesn't get more cliché than that!

The thing that the movie DOES get plus points on, is the locations where they film. Hong Kong, Valetta and Manila. Exotic locations, that are extremely good looking on film!

The score of this "masterpiece" is 3-5 out of 10 on IMDb, and I feel like it's too generous. I have seen worse films than this one, but still, General Commander ranks VERY much at the bottom of the barrel.

1.5 out of 10. I never want to see this abomination again, for as long as I live. Even the explosions and the gunfights are lackluster.

Top Gear Danmark - a review!

Today, the BBC show Top Gear premiered their very first Danish episode. The format is the same as the British one: Three guys, cool cars, The Stig, challenges, a Star in a Small car and a test track! It's a formula that works, so why change it?

The first episode saw the three hosts, TV presenter Felix Schmidt, actor Dar Salim and ex pro racecar driver Jesper Carlsen, go to the top of Denmark, to test three SUVs: A Mercedes-Benz G Wagon, a Lamborghini Urus and a Bentley Bentayga.

The tests and challenges were classic Top Gear: Banter between the hosts, trash-talking between the hosts and just good old fashioned fun, in three big cars.

The Star in a Small car was the ex boxer Mikkel Kessler. He set a time on a race track, just like in the original show.

Overall, the first episode was great. There are some kinks, but it's the first episode. It takes time to smooth it out, and to really settle into the role as Top Gear hosts. Episode two premiers in a week from now, and I will definitely watch it!

For this very first episode, I will absolutely give it a score of 7 out of 10. The later episodes will probably be rated higher, but we'll have to see how it goes. For now, it's a VERY promising start.

Next review will be of a film I bought today, starring Steven Seagal.

Oh boy.. uncertain

Netflix & chill with K.

During the weekend, I asked K if she had the time to get together on the Saturday. She said yes. Her parents are out of the country, so we had their place to our selves. So we agreed to meet up Saturday evening. We then went for some food and did some shopping, before heading back to her parents place.

When we got there, we got down to business immediately. We didn't want to wait at all. I had a general idea of what I wanted to experience, but I wasn't sure if she would be okay with it. I opened up the Netflix app, and found Bad Boys. I then casted to the tv, and we were golden! She had never seen Bad Boys 1 or 2, so we changed that. She loved both films, which made me very happy.

I know what you're all thinking.. "I thought he did the hoohaa with K, but all they did was literally watching Netflix and chilling like friends."

Yes, that is exactly what we did. Her parents being out of the country was just perfect timing. I do, however, want to meet them again at some point. I met them very briefly a few years ago, when K and I got to know each other. I need to arrange that soon.

A change in my trip - again.

American Airlines REALLY know how to strike fear into people. When they lead with "There has been a change in your trip" in an email, my heart skips a beat.

"Is it cancelled? Are my tickets revoked?"

No, nothing like that, thankfully. I am just travelling 5 minutes earlier from Copenhagen. I now leave at 6.55 am, instead of 7 am.

The first time they sent me that kind of email, my trip was moved from 7.25 am to 7 am, and now they are moving it to 6.55 am.. At this rate, I am flying at 3 am.. I mean, I don't really mind it. As long as I can make my 10.50 am flight from London, then I am a happy viking.

I am as prepared as I can be. All I need now, is for the days to pass until it's May 1st! Not long to go now!

Had a hot date last night!

Yesterday was Valentines Day, which meant payday for me. It was also the day, when I subscribed to a lottery, where my winning chances are 77%. I am not expecting to win the top prize, which would be amazing. But a few money here and there wouldn't hurt.

I also had a very hot date. More on that later!

Things at work are going well. When I arrived on Monday, I was given a lock to a locker, a key card and the code to get into the building. I wasted no time, and went straight to work. I have not missed a beat, and it felt familiar to me the second I logged in to the system. I really love it there. Good people and good food as well!

Oh, and that hot date I had? It was with my bed, since I was so tired, that I didn't really go out. Now it's the weekend, and my sister is celebrating her birthday today. She's 28, so I need to find a present for her. Might just be a gift certificate to a shop near here.

I must have made a good impression!

Earlier today, my phone rang. It was the temp agency. I didn't answer at first, but I called back relatively quick.

The voice on the other end of the phone said "Starting Monday, through the end of February and all of March, your place of work will be EET Group."

EET Group is where I was until December last year. To make it even better: They asked after me personally. They only wanted to have me and another guy back for two months, mainly because we know the system like the back of our hands. It will be easier for us to start working, rather than having some complete new people come in. It saves time for the team leaders, so that makes a lot of sense.

Just the fact that they asked for us by name, and not for someone else, makes it seem like I made a great first impression there.

Now I just need to finish this week, and I will be on my way to the other place. I am well excited!

"Are you available to work for the rest of the week?"

I got a text asking me that exact question. The place: L'Oréal - where I was during my first temp job. That means, I am going back there for three days, which I am very excited about. Who knows if the 3 days turn into 3 months again? I doubt it, though, since most of the high-important stuff has been relocated.

Still, it's gonna be a lot of fun!

Bad Boys for Life - a review!

Earlier today, I went and saw the new Bad Boys film, which I was super excited about. But was it worth it? Was it fantastic, or was it a total stinker?

Let's rewind the clock back 17 years, way back to 2003. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence starred in an undoubtedly gruesome, gory and exciting sequel, to the 1995 film, that started it all. Bad Boys II was absolutely over the top, but I loved it. Now, 17 years later, we would finally get another adventure with Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett.

Marcus and Mike have to confront new issues (career changes and a midlife crisis), as they join the newly created elite team AMMO of the Miami police department to take down the ruthless Armando Armas, the vicious leader of a Miami drug cartel.

The film starts with a bang - and a very fast car. Enter Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett as we know them - bantering and cussing, as only the Bad Boys can. The entire opening sequence is fantastic! Precision driving, one-liners and great music as well.

Besides Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, pretty much every surviving character from Bad Boys II are in the movie. Marcus is still married to Theresa, Reggie is in the military and Syd.. Well, Syd isn't found anywhere. She's mentioned a few times, but she's otherwise missing. A shame, since I loved that character.

This movie has everything you could possibly want from a Bad Boys film: Flashy cars, flashy clothes, explosions, swearing, blood and a fantastic comedy element. I enjoyed myself a lot, which is why I am giving this movie a solid 9 out of 10.

K loved it too, which was a relief, since this was the first Bad Boys she has ever watched. At some point, K and I are gonna watch the first two on Netflix.

New bingeworthy stuff!

The other day, I found myself watching WrestleMania 35 on YouTube.. Well, some of it.. The first 2 hours and 11 minutes, the rest was not in the video. The announcer in the video, said that new subscribers to the WWE Network, got their first month for free. So I signed up, hoping to find the full WrestleMania 35 on there, which I found. I picked up from where the YouTube video left off, and let me tell you: The athletes competing in WWE are some of the finest in the World. Always in great shape, displaying moves that I haven't seen in a long while, and super entertaining storylines.

Sidenote: I know wrestling is fake. That doesn't stop it from being super entertaining.

From WrestleMania 35, I watched the 2019 Royal Rumble, which was even more entertaining. There was one guy named Braun Strowman, a behemoth of a man! 6 foot 8, weighing 385 lbs. He is just unstoppable! Royal Rumble was extremely entertaining, so I was pleased. I then watched the newest NXT match, which was small scale, but it was so cool to see! NXT is where the new talent are competing, hoping to get "promoted" to the big leagues.

I then saw the most infamous match in all of WWE - Hell In A Cell. The main event was Seth Rollins vs. The Fiend. That event was absolutely fantastic! Probably my favorite event so far. The Fiend is just a mountain of terror. The match was held under red lights, which made The Fiend look even more menacing and terrifying.

I am definitely not regretting signing up!

Accepting defeat - for now!

For the last few weeks, I have been locked in a battle. We're not talking a death match type battle, though, but more a back-and-forth battle. It was a battle that I was CONFIDENT I could win.

When I started this battle, I thought to myself "This will be over quickly. Easy mode activate!", but it wasn't the case. Day after day, month after month, I tried my very best to win. I even went as far as going on Google to research, how I could win this battle.

Usually, Google is helpful. Not this time. I tried to call my mother to ask her, and I tried to follow her instructions. I even went on YouTube to see how others did it. I tried to follow their steps, but alas - I was still defeated.

So now, I am accepting defeat, but not for long. I guarantee that I WILL learn to cook the correct amount of pasta/rice/food for myself. I am truly awful at judging the correct amount of stuff to boil for myself.

I will resume this battle on Monday!

Great day yesterday!

I got to spend some time with K yesterday and the day before yesterday. We met up in Copenhagen for a meal, then went on to do what we were supposed to do, and then we headed home to my place for some movies and an early nights sleep.

Now, I know what you're thinking: "Sly guy, having a new girl in his bed. I bet they did the funsies too".. Well, we started assembling my newly purchased 3D puzzle of Big Ben, watched Star Wars and then went to sleep. No cuddling or anything, just some sleep. Well, when I say sleep.. She slept, I didn't. For some reason, I had a hard time falling asleep. I have no problems falling asleep on my own, but when K was here, I didn't sleep a lot. I think I got around 3 hours, the rest was just me having my eyes closed, relaxing.

K had to be somewhere early next morning, so we got up at around 8 am, had some breakfast and then I followed her to the train station. When I got home, I booted up my playstation, and had a little session there. I just relaxed all day yesterday, and had an early night. 10.30 pm, my eyes were too dang heavy to keep open, so I went to bed.

I still haven't heard from R, so now I am considering cutting off all contact all together, but I will not block. If she wants to talk, she can reach out. But for now, I am pretty much done. That's what happens when people start dating. They forget the people they claim to be their best friend. Am I bitter? A bit. But, then again, some of the breakdown in the friendship was my fault, which I have accepted. R and I were finally mending what broke, but now I feel like she's just giving me the cold shoulder. Leaving messages on "read" without replying.

That's really a f'ed up thing to do. At least reply to my messages, even if it's only a "Can't talk now, later"
