A very, very long day!

Today has been one of those days. Where everything just falls apart.

Let's start it off slowly: I missed my alarm clock. I am usually woken up at 5.45 am, but for some reason, I slept through the alarm, so I woke up at 6.50 am - which is the time my train is coming to the station. So I rush up, put on some clothes and head downstairs.

My roommate, for some reason, has left a garbage bag RIGHT in front of the stairs, so I barge into that, sending the contents flying everywhere. It's just bits of carpet, but still. I cleaned up the worst, and texted my roommate about me spilling the contents on the floor. He was very understanding, even acknowledging that it was placed in a bad spot.

You think?

Anyway, I get out the door, running up to the train. When I get there, the train is leaving right in front of me, so I have to wait 10 minutes for the next one.. I know I am going to be late, so I make a phone call to inform them, that I will be late.

"No worries, you'll get here when you get here."

About 20 minutes later, I am at the bus. Somehow, the bus is running smoothly - until we hit the motorway - where the bus breaks down.. So I am thinking "Just shoot me already"..

It takes 20 minutes for a replacement bus to show up. By then, it was 8.50 am. I am at least 30 minutes from work, and my shift starts at 9..

Fast forward 20 minutes - the replacement bus arrives, and luckily there were no issues with that one. I arrive at work 25 minutes later, because the bus driver made up a LOT of time on the motorway. I make my way into the production area, while apologizing to my teamleader. He's looking at me going "Chill out, no stress. You are only 20 minutes late, no worries. it could be worse. Take this cart here, and handle the Combine orders".

So I do.

Now, this wouldn't be a Monday on a Wednesday, without SOME issues - which I get a LOT of. At my work, I am using something called Autostore, which is a VERY expensive piece of equipment. When it gets too hot, it breaks down. And it did - several times.

At this point, I just want to go home and go to bed - and it's only 11 am. My shift ends at 5 pm, which means I have a LONG day ahead of me.

The rest of my workday went by relatively smoothly. Minor issues arise, like running out of carts, missing items from the Autostore and so on.

At 5 pm, I am desperate to head home. I clock out, put on my jacket and head to the bus - which is late, because of course it is.

I arrive at my destination without any incidents. I am thinking to myself, that maybe this time, I will FINALLY have a smooth journey home. I get off at my stop, and head to the other side of the road, to catch the bus back. I only have to wait 2 minutes for the bus. 2 minutes turns to 10. 10 turns to 30. At this point, I am just ready to have a major breakdown. I then decide to walk to the station, to catch the train home. When I arrive, 4 minutes until the train arrives.

"Great, finally things are going my way"..

Yeah, not so much.. The sign says 4 minutes - and for the next 10 minutes, the sign STILL says 4 minutes. I can only laugh to myself. It's almost hilarious.

Finally, after 15 minutes, the train arrives. The rest of my journey home is without any problems - until I hit the shopping mall. Cops everywhere! Some idiot decided to phone in a bomb scare, which then closed all the shops - and I needed to get into one of them, to get my dinner.

I just decide to head home, to see if I had something in my freezer that I could eat. Luckily, I did, so I made the food and went upstairs, sinking into my chair.

Today has been very, VERY long. I am so glad it's over!

"Would you like to go and see Delain tomorrow?"

I got that message from K on Friday evening. I had never heard the band live before, so I replied "Sure, I'm up for that!"

So we met up in the train, and decided to hit a bar, before the show. There was a great one 30 seconds from the venue, so we sat down and ordered. I went for a regular coke, while K went for a double vodka/fanta. Once the bartender came down with our drinks, he went "Double vodka/fanta for the lady, and a rum and coke minus rum for the gentleman".. I was going "But I didn't ord.. Aaah, I see what you did there laugh. Clever"

We finished our drinks and headed to the venue. The first band on stage was a band called Ankona, and they were a Russian folk metal band, complete with bagpipes and flutes. It was absolutely brilliant! They blended good old fashioned folk metal with black metal. Mind blowing! They had 45 minutes to play, and I loved every minute of it!

Then it was time for Delain, the main event. You could feel the atmosphere in the venue building! Once they got on stage, they literally blew the other band away. Symphonic metal is amazing live!

Charlotte, the lead singer, was amazing on stage! I have never seen a person belong on a stage that much! She ruled the show with precision and a fantastic voice! It was heavy, yet melodic at the same time. It reminded me of the early Within Temptation. Maybe because the bassist in the band was a former member of Within Temptation.

It was one of the best nights in a long time! One I would gladly do again!

I want to travel soon!

At work earlier today, there was an ad on the radio about travelling, and the sound of bagpipes came on, which made me think about just how much I miss Scotland. Then, I though to myself "I should really go to Glasgow again at some point next year". On my way home, I did some searching, to find out when it was cheapest to travel to Scotland, and I found out, that May was the cheapest. I can get a return ticket for the less than a new games console.

While I would love to travel alone, I did think that I would bring someone, so I asked K if she wanted to visit Glasgow with me. "Sure, but I don't know when I can afford it", was her answer. Now, being that the flights to Scotland are cheap, I thought "Why not give her a trip to Scotland as an early birthday present".. So now I am looking at deals for when I am getting paid in about 8 days time. I also need to time it with regards to my New York trip. The plan is, that I will arrive home from New York on the 8th of May, and, if all goes well, K and I will depart for Scotland on the 17th of May. I have 11 days back in Denmark before I head out of the country again. May is gonna be busy AF, but I love it.

I will not book tickets for Glasgow, but Edinburgh. There is a bus there, that travels all the way to Glasgow from Edinburgh Airport. The last time I took it, it was £18.50 for an open return ticket. The price might have gone up since then, but it sure beats taking the train, which will easily cost me a few hundred pounds.

It's gonna be amazing getting back to Scotland. I miss the food there, the people and the scenery! It's gonna be awesome!

"I really wanted to see you again"

K dropped those words to me, right after we met up for our movie appointment.

About 2 hours before, we had agreed to go and see Midway, which I left a review about earlier. I asked her if she wanted to go see it on Sunday, but she had an appointment then. She then suggested we could see it today, which was fine by me, since I didn't really have any plans.

I like spending time with her, even if it is just for a few hours every two weeks. I asked her if she wanted to come by my place for some movies or video games, which she did want to. We just need to find the right dates for that.

It's great to have a friend you can go to the cinema with. What will the future hold for her and I? I don't really know yet. Time will tell, of which there is plenty. It's not like I am going anywhere, and we still keep in contact every day.

For now, I have a friend to spend some time with. And that is good enough for me :)

Midway - a review!

I have always wanted to see Midway, ever since I saw the trailer for it, so I reached out to K to hear, if she wanted to go see it tomorrow. "How about we do it today? I will arrive in Copenhagen at 5.15 pm". I checked the time for when the movie began, and it said 6 pm, so I texted her back, saying "Let's do it". So off I went to meet up with K, and watch the film.

The movie stars Ed Skrein, Patrick Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Luke Evans, Mandy More, Luke Kleintank, Dennis Quaid, Tadanobu Asano, Aaron Eckhart and Nick Jonas, and it follows the supposedly true tale, about what lead up to the attack on Pearl Harbor, and the aftermath of the attack.

Directed by Roland Emmerich, this 100 million dollar explosion is VERY entertaining. From the acting to the story to the effects, this movie just delivers. It's easily one of the best movies I have seen this year, and I have seen a lot.

At one point, during a huge action scene, K looked at me with the biggest smile on her face, and her eyes just lit up with excitement and awe, over what she witnessed. And I agreed with her, because it was just plain badass.

As you would expect, in a big budget war film, there are a LOT of explosions. Like.. A metric asstonne of explosions. They are all done beautifully, and I love just how loud and bombastic it is.

On the journey home, we both agreed, that this movie was extremely well made, and we both wanted to watch it again. We felt the same way when we watched Terminator: Dark Fate. We wanted to watch that again instantly.

So all in all, this movie deserves a 9 out of 10. It's really exciting, full of explosions and noise, and it's just pure entertainment and fun to watch!

Yet another week has gone by!

It's Friday, which means the weekend. I have a few plans.

Tomorrow, I am meeting up with my siblings to head to the cemetery, to decorate my fathers grave for Christmas. Before he passed, he told us, that he wouldn't want to be a burden to us all, to which we said, that it was our call to make. We wanted a place for him to rest, once he died. A place where we could come and sit. Reflect on life and how short and unforgiving it is.

On Sunday, well I plan to sleep in. I might ask K if she wants to go to the cinema with me again. Maybe turn it into something we do every two weeks. if she's not available, then I'll just relax and catch up on some sleep. I really need it, badly.

Work is going well, too. I love being there, so it's fantastic that they want me there until the 20th of December. I hope to make such an impact, that they want me there full time. We'll see how it turns out!

Joker - a review

I finally managed to watch Joker yesterday, and it left me severely disappointed.

The movie stars Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, a failed stand up comedian in Gotham City, who assumes the alter ego Joker, after a series of unfortunate events.

Other actors include Robert DeNiro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Bill Camp, Shea Whigham, and Marc Maron.

I was told that this movie was AMAZING, and that I would love it. But after almost 2 hours of runtime, I found myself thinking "This is terrible."

95% of the film is talking, and not much is happening. There are a few scenes of mayhem, but they are generally not very exciting. Even the bloody scenes left me unimpressed.

Joaquin Phoenix, however, is extremely good in the movie. His portrayal of Arthur Fleck will surely net him an academy award for best actor in a leading role, since he owns this movie.

If you are walking into this movie expecting something like Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight, you'll be extremely disappointed. If you expect a movie that is haunting, brutal and down right disturbing, look somewhere else.

It's a short review, but I don't really have anything positive to say about the movie, other than Joaquin Phoenix.

As much as it pains me, I'm giving this movie a 1/10. It could have been SO much better!

"Please call this number - it's important"

When I get a text like that, it's either "You have been given more shifts", or "Sorry, nothing for you there anymore. You are going to a new place."

I have been at my current temp job for around a month and a half, and I have grown to love the job a lot. It wasn't like that a few weeks ago. Back then, I just wanted to leave as quickly as possible, but something changed. It might be because of that other guy, who I have been temp working with. He wasn't given an extension, so he's now gone from there. It makes it much more fun to be there. I know it's an awful thing to say, but it's the truth.

Anyway, back to the text!

I asked my team leader if I was allowed to go and make a phone call, to which he said "It it's important, then yes". So I finished what I was doing and headed out to make the call. When the phone was picked up, the lady at the other end said "I don't know why you had to call. I can check up on it. Are you available within the next ten minutes?"

I told her, that I was on a break at 3 pm, and that they could call back then. I finished the call, and I was about to head into the production area, when my phone rang. It was the agency, so I immediately picked up.

"Hello, again. You have been extended until the 20th of December, so you are just going to continue doing what you are doing now".

Quite possibly the best call I could have gotten! After I hung up, I immediately went out to the Polish girl, A, and told her, that I was extended until the end of December. She was very happy for me, which in turn made me happy as well. For the rest of the day, everything flew out.

Regarding A and me, we talk extremely well. We even banter every now and again. It's nice to have a friend to have some fun convos with. She's always coming down to me, going "Why aren't you working? Come on, work!", to which I say "Yes, boss. I will do better". It's all in a fun way, which is great.

Now I can enjoy the rest of the week, before I can sleep in during the weekend. I look forward to that!

Issues with my friend.

I have decided to be completely honest and transparent with my friend. I felt like I crossed some lines, regarding personal space, so I wanted to clear the air between her and me. There have been a LOT of times where I seemingly crossed the line, so her and I are talking about it. Clearing the air, and remaining honest with each other.

If this ends with her not wanting to see me again, I can understand. If it ends with our friendship becoming stronger, that would be amazing. That would also mean, that I would have to turn down the rate of hugs I am giving her, which would be a bit strange for me.

Whatever happens, I hope the outcome is for the best.

I am SO doing this next year!

Here in Denmark, we aren't big on luxury. For us, luxury is anything good! It can be sleeping in or getting a meal for free.

But, we do have luxurious hotels. Not Dubai-levels of luxury, but more of an old school kind of luxury. One such luxurious hotel is called d'Angleterre. It is one of the first deluxe hotels in the world, and it is located on Kongens Nytorv, in the heart of Copenhagen. The location is opposite Charlottenborg, the Royal Opera and Nyhavn. While its history dates back to 1755, a fire damaged it beyond repair. The current building was finished in 1795. From 1872 to 1875, the building was significantly extended and refurbished by the architects, Vilhelm Dahlerup and Georg E.W. Møller. The hotel has long been considered the most prestigious and elegant hotel in the city. Its name is French and means the "England Hotel".

The Hotel d'Angleterre re-opened in May 2013 following extensive restorations. The new d'Angleterre has 30 rooms and 60 suites. It also has a 1-star Michelin restaurant, "Marchal", led by executive chef, Andreas Bagh, a cocktail and champagne bar as well as a spa and health club.

Noteable guests, who have stayed in the hotel, are as follows: AC/DC, H.C. Andersen, Morten Andersen, Cecilia Bartoli, David Beckham, Dogukan Nas, Karen Blixen, Bono, Victor Borge, Mariah Carey, José Carreras, Helena Christensen, Sir Winston Churchill, John Cleese, Bill Clinton, Michael Davitt, Cameron Diaz, Walt Disney, Barbara Hendricks, Alfred Hitchcock, Whitney Houston, Henrik Ibsen, Julio Iglesias, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Jon Bon Jovi, Juan Carlos I of Spain, Grace Kelly, Diana Krall, Madonna, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Brigitte Nielsen, Connie Nielsen, Ozzy Osbourne, David Rockefeller, Rolling Stones, Claudia Schiffer, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Justin Timberlake, U2, Lars Ulrich, Robbie Williams, Oprah Winfrey and Angus Young.

Condé Nast Traveler has included the Hotel D'Angleterre on its Gold List 2015 of the best hotels in the world.

The most expensive room is $2586 - per night! They also have a champagne bar, with champagne from 42 different houses. Price for that: Well.. You have to buy a bottle, since there is no menu as such. The cheapest bottle will set you back $115, while the most expensive one is an eye watering $7400.

The website for the hotel is:

But the thing I am doing, is attending one of their Sunday brunches. It's $96, and it is quite possibly the most lavish thing ever - it even includes oysters, caviar and a glass of champagne. If you want an extra glass of champagne, you're gonna have to pay $18 - per glass.

So I am just gonna stick with the brunch only. One glass of champagne on a Sunday afternoon is plenty!

Completing the new Star Wars game!

Yesterday at around this time, I booted up the new Star Wars game on my PlayStation. Jedi: Fallen Order, is the name of it.

I completed the storyline 5 minutes ago. So how's it like?

Well, it's a brutal, tricky, savage, irritating and amazing piece of gaming. They DID say it was a mix between Dark Souls and a good old fashioned adventure platform game, and I really loved that. I played on story mode for the most of the game, but that was so I could enjoy the game even more. And enjoy it, I did.

It's a fantastic game, with a way too short of a story. But we do get to say hello to a few old favorites from the franchise!

8/10!

Time for the weekend - tomorrow!

Another week is just about to finish, and what a week it's been. I have been working hard, which I can feel. I am so tired, to the point where I can sleep pretty much any time of the day. I might just go to be early, for a change. It might help with my energy levels tomorrow. It's a big day, since the new Star Wars game is released! Jedi Fallen Order, is the name, and I have secured my copy. Paid in full. All I need to do, is to go down to the store and go "I have a game on order, and I would like to have it, please".

I might also be getting a visitor on Saturday, just for a few hours. We might just watch a movie or something. But nothing is 100% confirmed yet. I will know on Saturday. If no visit comes, I will just play some more Star Wars.
