Random Shots-1

It is interesting to note how some actresses view nudity in films.
Helen Mirren says,” "As you get older, naked stuff gets easier... more to do with the role than what men in the audience think. There's a liberation about it,"

Indian actress Rekha, has tastefully and brilliantly portrayed nudity and sexuality in some Bollywood movies. The charm on her face, the grace in her body language and the depth in her voice has mesmerized audiences for decades. And she has put her oomph in use while seducing many of her costars in some extremely sensuous moments on the silver screen. Utsav , Kamasutra , Aastha, Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi ,and Parineeta are jewels in Rekha’s crown.

Present day Bollywood heroine Vidya Balan is not very liberal is when it comes to revealing on screen. Some of her conditions :
» That there be no clear display of heaving breasts in songs » That going backless is fine but she would not encourage frontal exposure » That there be no camera close-ups of any of her assets » That she is not made to wear outfits that may be explicitly exposing parts of her body.

Uruguay at the threshold of world cup

To the thread, Germany the winer world cup 2010 ye...... posted by rabbitty, I commented on June 27, “My gut feeling tells me ,it will be Uruguay.May be the only person other than Uruguayans ,to think so”.
Now Urugay is near the threshold of world cup. Will they win? As Forlan, their debonair star striker put it , getting into the top four itself is great for this tiny country. Considered as Latin America’s most secular country, religious devotion is reserved for football. Read this illuminating piece :

Vignettes on Uruguay are most welcome!

Way with Words

Some comments to the thread ‘Why,are cunucks so stuck up/smug’ by reb56 caught my attention for the way they were put across or the prose . They are:

1.Veritaas: Well blow me down, knock me sideways and whilst your there, rattle my greycells, and shake some chilli on me, and tiggle my toes! Bless cherry pie peaches!

cincity :You have such a way with words V

2. rohaan : I really do believe that you get whatever Karma you're putting out. If one sees Canucks, as stated, as being stuck up or whatever, then for that person, they are. It doesn't make it true, any truer than the medieval rulers telling Galileo the earth was flat. Read a poem titled "The Right Kind Of People" someday. It very brilliantly illustrates that we all carry our own luggage, battered, nice, or whatever, and it is a mistake to expect others to change our negativity, if we have that as a personality trait. Incidentally, I also believe that people are negatively "wired" (can't help it) but that we all have the potential to be that way, as well, OR to be friendly and outgoing, if we choose. Part of being a responsible adult is the learning process of being nice when you don't really feel like it, holding your tongue when you know the other person deserves to be told off, having class even when you think that's the last thing you feel like having. One must learn and work toward a greater example of neighborliness. It's part of being an adult.

3. venusenvy: If you go to Ottawa, make sure to visit Rue de Pattiserie I always spend a day there and eat nothing but pasteries for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! And I still dont get to try all the ones I would like. Its a very quaint street closed to traffic. Nothing but the best european bakeries. If you do get to Toronto, try to go to a lil village north of there called Klienberg. You will find the McMicheal gallery there. Its the spiritual home of the group of seven. It will truly give you an impression of the Canadian soul. O and I hope you like beer

The east coast rocks! and you will meet some of the best peeps on earth. Toronto (Tarana) is the "New York" of Canada. I think the scenery on the west coast is the most breathtaking of all, But very different from the east.It looks like a beer commercial. The most important thing you can bring on a trip to Can. is a sense of humour...You will find out what I mean.

You should go...Im sure you will like it. Its a beautiful, diverse country. I also think it will change your perspective. I know mine was after having resided in the States for a year. Experience is always the best Teacher

davpk10: If Canada is so wonderful why do you live in Mexico.
venusenvy:The weather

4.DodgeBabe: Ottawa is much nearer to me than NYC! I can almost smell it! I want to see Quebec and Montreal also. There is so much to see, and after watching Little Mosque on the Prairie, the Heartland of Canada is also calling! I have a full passport, so I fully intend to go of the Bridge to Canada from Ogdensburg fairly soon.

Age may not wither libido…

Roger Michell’s 2003 British film ‘The Mother’ based on a work of Hanif Kureishi ,is the story of May (Anne Reid),who, feeling lost and unwanted, seeks refuge in a friendship with the much younger Darren (Daniel Craig),her daughter’s boy friend. when this friendship turns into a torrid s*xual relationship, all the barely concealed hatreds and resentments in the family come out fighting. The Mother' is a drama of family breakdown and domestic alienation, full of ghastly people and loveless liaisons. May, really quite wonderfully portrayed by Anne Reid, is a virtual saint compared to the selfish monsters that surround her.

Kate Buckley - Elegant Simplicity

Thanks to twitter, I stumbled on Kate Buckley . The simplicity of her poem ‘Honesty’, is stunningly elegant. Also very honestly she writes how the poem came about.
See the following lines:

“I will take measure
of your soil and add what you need,
take what I
should. “

The poet says, “ With this poem, I think I was struck by the actual sweat-and-grime/give-and-take honesty of manual labor”. Who will not?

“Also I remember my grandfather working in his garden for hours—it was a necessity for him, but it was also a meditation. I admired that about him and hated that I’d gotten so far away from that”
How true !?

Mysterial Libido !

No doubt, the most talked about and written about aspect of humankind is sexuality.Does libido wane with age? Not always.Though not critically acclaimed and belonging to pulp fiction category,I found 'Overload' by Arthur Hailey, interesting ,since it portrays how mysterious libido can be.What puzzled me most about the main charecter is that, almost all the women happened to be in contact with him, craved to be laid by him. It is more than two decades since I read the novel, and I do not remember properly the characters or the situations. As I remember, his boss’s wife had no qualms to seduce him even before recovering from the shock of her husband’s death. So were his close friend’s wife and her sister! For a paraplegic, he was like a heaven sent man to give vent to her pent up passions! The book ends with the suggestion of the woman journalist who was after his blood throughout the story, looking forward to bed with him!
