Well, a potential partner should share their outlook on life and be somewhat in sync with your's, (Oil and water)
So in that frame of mind I have to express my views on the US., and Canada as per Afghanistan and Iraq. Canada has all its troops in Afghanistan, the US has most of its troops in Iraq.
The USA runs on oil. It imports most of its oil from the Middle East. Iraq has the 2nd largest remaining oil reserves. Saddam, is dead and gone, yet Bush is asking for more billions of $ to remain in Iraq. Why ? So many despots have killed millions in Africa, the US didn't care. No oil there, just drought, so let 'em die.
Bush said, "Failure is not an option". Given what they have seen and suffered, (Iraq and Afghanistan) at the hands of outside forces, the population of both countries are asking, were we better off 4 years ago ? The cost to the US is above $18 billion so far, yet it has failed to bring them any control at all of either country. Never enter a battle without an exit plan. The US and its allies has no exit plan. Like Vietnam, we thought that we could just bomb the hell out of them and then convert them to our way of thinking. NOT. The US and allies do not understand the culture that is being dealt with. The USSR was beaten by Afghanistan. Iraq has been at war with itself for thousands of years. Think about it. Body bags for oil.
