Bad Bureaucracies

It's kinda annoying when a simple process of renewing a passport turns into circus, I'm sure every embassies has different sets of rules and regulations to follow but our embassy rules here simply suck, so unproductive and not helpful at all. We have consulates or embassy that are supposed to be there to help their citizens but looks like that they are there to make our life complicated.

went to renew my passport, a receptionist sent me to another person who gave me instructions and forms to fill up. After completing the forms, I was sent to another person for questioning, he requested for more identifications and documents which I provided. My paperworks were sent to another department for review then I was called, asked many questions again which I answered then she signed some of my paperworks. Then I was referred to another person for more questioning and they requested more documents which I didn't have with me since I didn't expect them to be a requirement. I went through the same frustrating process five years ago when I had to provide lots of documents and paid a lot of money inorder for my passport to be renewed. I explained to them in details that I've done all of these processes 4 years ago but unfortunately they couldn't find any record of it so I was dismissed and told to bring documents they require in order for me to re-acquire citizenship, which I already did years ago ! Worse part, I plan to travel in a month but was told I won't be able to have a valid passport after at least 45 working days plus some delays so have to wait at least 2-3 months! Back home in Philippines it would take about a week to get a passport and here in Jordan, it took me an hour to get a passport.

I was just going through some paperworks , found what I need so I'm going back again tomorrow to submit documents they required. I'm just hoping they are not gonna charge me for more authentication, validation and registration fees for each document again! 4 years ago, I spent almost a thousand dollars to have my passport renewed while the standard fee for renewing passport here is only about $65.

all these rules and regulations that everyone has follow can be very frustrating, specially when embassies or any government or private businesses are understaffed or employ incompetent, grumpy, senile workers who couldn't keep up with long line of people waiting to be served or helped...you can't do anything about it, they set the rules, we have to follow or simply get lost!sigh

not having a nice day here, a bit sick and grumpy...I hope yours are better!teddybear

I just send my application off in the post with the 80 euro or whatever it costs now, and just get it back in the post a week or so later
I know how do you feel. laugh
Very similar situation I have with the working visa.
So I'm laughing instead of crying. So help me god. laugh
If you pay for a VIP service you can get your passport back quicker. Sometimes its just not worth the hassle of waiting for so long.
Bloody,
yea, so help us god! those bureaucrats can be overbearing sometimes even thoigh they look very stupid and disgusting
should be bureaucraciesrolling on the floor laughing
Sweet,

does not work here...it used to but they are being watched for corruption nowadays so they are kinda careful about that VIP treatment, maybe reason why they are making it hard for us ordinary peoplelaugh
Geeez I though Japan was the worst, but what you are going through pales everything else into insignificance. Hope you come through not too scathed hug
Thanks, Rob!

Have no other choice but to follow rules just like everyone else but then not all Filipino has complications like minelaugh

I find it hard to understand the lengthy processes and the long wait...it's so ancientsigh
Hi! wave
I have accompanied my friend to the Philippine Embassy here in Riyadh and all she ever had to bring was a payment of around 65-70 usd (depending on the currency exchange at the moment) and her old passport and a pen. She filled out some papers, paid at the cashier, had her photo taken, and went to get the paper for claiming of the passport at a later time. It took us less than 30 minutes.

I wonder why you had to go thru such gruesome processes and channels. confused
Hey Blue,
I was expecting it would be that easy too, apparently my dual citizenship complicates the processes, like what I wrote above, they required me to re-acquire Filipino citizenship , seems I have to undergo the same processes every time I have to renew my passport sigh

not sure how long you have to wait there for a passport to be released after you have completed the application processes but here, we have to wait at least 45 working days, if we are lucky...some waited for longer than that that's why we were advised to renew our passports 6 months before it expires.
Sorry for your trouble.it sure seems like a headache you have to endure.
Blue,
Thanks! yes. a lot of headache! 4 or almost 5 years ago, I almost gave up and lost interest in getting a passport but I know it would also be a lot easier if I have one everytime I go home...I wouldn't want to go through another corrupted processes of applying for a visa and paying for my overstay in my own countrylaugh
