StreetWalkin': Playing for Notes

On Friday, I headed down to Fairhaven in the U.S. to take my bike in for it's 10 hour check up. Needless to say, I have ridden far more than 10 hours, as Thursday alone I rode it for 9.5 hours. While waiting, I toured the town, practicing my street photography. Some of the benches have a statue of a renowned figure lounging on them, to the delight of many who have their photo taken with them.

The first one - a statue of Mark Twain outside a book store.

The g/f taking a photo of them. Strong legs on that girl! Look how she's squatting.

Mark Twain, himself.

The town has tons of old brick buildings that have been renovated and add to the appeal of it.

I could hear piano music across the street, but couldn't figure out where it was coming from as I was looking into the bright light. Two ladies told me the piano player had pushed the piano down the street and set up on the corner to play. His music was absolutely delightful.

Down a cobblestone alley, a restaurant is set up in a courtyard. One of the tables is set off by itself by this tree and raised a couple of feet above the cobblestones.

The red umbrella and dress caught my attention.

In the courtyard, people relax and enjoy some refreshments, or read.

Yep, the red hat caught my eye.

This couple was from Oz and asked me to move off the bench I was sitting on, next to some statue taking notes. No problem. Another couple asked me how my date was - I told them he was a little quiet, but he was at least writing everything down.

fantastic pictures - expression, colors., wave everything.
Thanks Bogart! Hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed taking the photos :).

Do you know if there's a way to edit your own comment? I posted a too large pic of the bike and have since deleted it off imgur and have uploaded a smaller version, but don't see where, or if I can edit the photo in my comment.

Any ideas anyone?
In case I can't edit the comment, here's the pic of the bike with the hammered copper fenders.

What an enjoyable blog, I kept saying, "oh that's my favorite one" then the next picture "oh that's my favorite one" then the next picture and I would say that again.

I also pick the piano player for your street contest.
Thanks, Fay! It was fun and interesting. I'd like to get some close-ups of people's faces, but that won't happen with the lens I had on that day. Next time I'll just sit on the bench and zoom in on people.

I love the piano player, and especially his 5 gallon buckets! laugh
It's funny, I was taking photos across the street and this homeless woman yelled at me for taking her photo. What was funny was that I was photographing two women with a baby carriage crossing the street, and the homeless woman ended up in my photo. It's been cropped so the two women and the baby carriage don't show up.

Just be careful you don't get caught (i.e. accidently) photographing a mobster or a spy. laugh

I like that ornate door handle better than the church one, which was nice too.

It would be somewhat cool, if the statue of Mark Twain had a motion sensor that turned on a digital recording
of someone imitating Mark Twain saying "Hey, what's your hurry. Have a seat." laugh
Then, when someone sat down, it would activate recordings of readings of Twain by the Twain imitator.
And for some people, it might better expose them to who Mark Twain was.
Jim - Don't they read Huckleberry Finn in school anymore? dunno
