HOW WOULD YOU BEST DesCRIBE A HIGHLY EDUCATED BUT NOT INTELLIGENT?

To be honest, I often find those who are highly educated but not particularly intelligent people to be some of the least tolerable people on the planet, because absent the intelligence to think on their own, they are so set in the ways of their “education” that they can’t conceive of the possibility that something they’ve been taught might not be scientifically, socially, or morally right.cheers

Any opinion/ideas u can share

So you are the one who judges whether one is educational and unintelligent or not? Very self degrading and obnoxious topic.

hi Ysabel, After reading all comments I see many different points of view and most of them are correct but some others could confuse terms and concepts so I would say Education is not equal to Intelligence, though it is often used as an external measure of it. Certain types of education can give you a pretty good idea that someone is at least of certain minimum intelligence (you can't actually be dumb and have an advanced degree in Physics and Mathematics), but they don't provide a measure of how far beyond that minimum they are, and a lack of education says absolutely nothing about their intelligence.
And, by the way, The most important thing is neither education nor intelligence prevent you from doing stupid things. As far as I know, nothing in the world stops that. professor Then the question could be... How to stop that?

I do agree with you though
There is a vast difference between education and intelligence. Both ideas involve knowledge; however, they are fundamentally different concepts.

Intelligence is an innate and natural ability that we are born with. It involves our natural abilities. Traditionally this was measured with an IQ .cheers handshake
And your point isconfused handshake cheers
If two men are of equal intelligence and one is educated and the other is not, the educated man is the fool. Education reveals a level of brain capacity that was not there before so what the uneducated possess to a much larger degree than the educated is potential intelligence.

If u read my comments and guests comment it is clear that intelligence is different from educated one though education is the process of acquiring general knowledge.handshake
U have some point thoughcheers
And your point ischeers handshake
Pardon me againcheers
@Ysa, I've read this blog of yours days ago and thought I'd passed commenting on it. but then again, it appears tonight. As I'm still tinkering this computer, I'll give my share. A highly educated but not intelligent person for me is one who is fanatical or even a bigot. Someone who believes that he's always right in his beliefs and all the others are wrong. Because for me an intelligent person irregardless of educational background is one who understands that we are but just dust in the wind.bouquet
wave Tatami thanks for dropping by again.
That I agree that there are certain educated people doesnt really use what they learn....cheers
