Getting Used to Retirement
Well, that was a waste of time and gas this morning. I was up at 5:15am, made my lunch, heated up some soup, filled my thermos, made breakfast and had a quick cuppa before heading out at 6:45am.It was clear here, with high clouds and sunny patches, a promise of a sunny fall day. As I drove west, the weather got worse and worse, driving into heavy rain, and clouds that seem to meld with the pavement. Everything was grey, making it hard to see the road and other cars.
Arriving at the turnoff towards the market, I pulled into a store on a side street, and looked up the weather for that area today. Rain. Not rain with sunny periods. Not showers. Not rain and clearing in the afternoon. Just rain. All. Day. Long.
So I turned around and headed home. I've been at the markets when it's raining, and it sucks. People are there to buy their vegetables and they aren't looking to buy anything else. And they sure aren't 'shopping' to see what else is there. Especially if it's raining heavily.
Besides, I figure with my iron count so low, I just can't afford to get chilled and get a cold as I don't have the resources to fight it. I can think of all kinds of excuses. The bottom line, I'm not sitting in the pouring rain for four hours, being bored.
Two and a half hours later, I'm home, back in the nice, dry weather. I think I'll load my bike onto the back of my car and go somewhere today to take some photos. There are two places I know of that have cool old cars and trucks that I want to photograph again.
Guaranteed I won't be heading into the rain though. And yeah, I should have checked the weather forecast for that area yesterday. I checked the forecast for my area, and it was correct - cloudy with sunny periods. Silly me, not checking that area, as it's the reason I haven't lived in that area - it rains too much!
Ah yes, getting my pensions is awesome! Before, I'd have to go to work, whether it was raining or not. Now, as my expenses are all covered, if I don't want to work in the rain, I don't have to. If it had shown signs of clearing up at all today, I would have stayed. But, as it didn't, I now have a day to myself to do as I wish.

Retirement I recommend it.
I've been retired for eleven years and never have time to just do nothing.
I know a few people who retired, and got so bored with it, they took up part time jobs, for something to do, to beat the boredom. I ve been telling people who are retiring to make some plans to do something,> part time jobs, travel, help out charities.... do something to save their sanity.
Both days this weekend were terrific, as were the sales.
I retired very early and have been loving every moment of it.
