Funny Johnny Carson's quips...

Two generations stayed up late watching Johnny Carson host of the Tonight Show.
I remember friends repeating some of the funny things he said. If you know the show, his side kick and co-host Ed McMahon would often lead Johnny into something funny.
For example:
Johnny would say "It was really hot today"
Ed would comment "How hot was it Johnny"
Carson would come back with "It was so hot, I saw a bird cooking a worm on the sidewalk"
Typically, there would be a rimshot from the band's drummer signifying a joke!

Some of the people he interviewed said funny things and they both would laugh to tears.
That's the way it was with Johnny.

There was a blooper when he interviewed the wife of famous pro-golfer Jack Nicklaus. He asked her if she did anything to give him good luck before an important match. She replied "I kiss his balls" Realizing what she had said, she corrected herself by saying "his golf balls" but that was too late as Johnny had the comeback "I bet that made his putter rise to the occasion" totally embarrassed, she left the stage.

I didn't get to see it, but another memorable moment was when Zsa Zsa Gabor was on the show. She was sitting in the chair with a cat on her lap. When she asked Johnny if he wanted to pet her p*ssy he said...

It was brought up years later by Jane Fonda.

He.was the best...i sure miss him.
I used to love him but I don't remember any of the skits. I liked Jay Leno and I love Jimmy Fallen now. However I'm rarely awake to see them.
Great videos.
Q) At the end of the George Burns & Gracie Allen Show, George would say, "Say good night, Gracie."
What did Gracie say?

A) If your answer was that Gracie said, "Good night, Gracie", you would be in the majority of respondents.
But - according to George Burns - you and the majority of respondents would be wrong.

This came up on an interview (I believe it was with Carson) during which George claimed Gracie NEVER said, "Good night, Gracie."
She simply said, "Good night."

Carson's guests were at times quite educational...

I thought Johnny Carson was the best! I liked Jay Leno! Do not like the current three late night hosts!
I liked him. I'm still angry that Jay Leno was replaced with Conan O'brien and then Jimmy Fallon. Leno was the funniest. very mad
I couldnt stand to see leno or letterman.they were not funny like carson.
I found Leno's lisp annoying so I stopped watching the show.
Carson did what none of the others have done, and no one else will...
He established the concept and basic format of the 'late night program'.

All those that came (and will come) after are following in the footsteps of The King Of Late Night.

Who remembers Johnny playing drums?
Johnny was on a show called "Who Do You Trust" before the Tonight Show and it was a daytime show. I remember him playing the drums on it.
Hereeeeesss... Johnny on the drums.
