Raining again

Welcome to Sunny Spain they said
320 days of sunshine a year they said
Meanwhile I had to put the light on in the kitchen to see to make coffee moping
and it is dark and dank and drizzling and dreary and dreich and

oh, dreich? a Scottish word. Definition - A combination of dull, overcast, drizzly, cold, misty and miserable weather. At least 4 of the above adjectives must apply before the weather is truly dreich. Yup, it's dreich.

sigh

Roll on next week when the sun comes back, and at least it will come back, in Scotland this would be it until about March.

Another sigh. sigh

You can see this isn't an English website, there's no category for weather. Or an emoji for a nice cuppa tea.

Kal, glad you got it, although not the 'just enough' I wished for you laugh

Abagail - this IS home and yes I do like occasional changes so I remember to appreciate the status quo! laugh
I am glad too, Biff.
Having the rain is all that matters for now. I can always clean my roof top, but for sure I cannot create rain. grin
Oi Biff... They didn't lie... Just neglected to tell you the last time they had 320 days of sun was in 1869!devil
Hey Ger long time no see applause

Nah, I've been here a year, and it was true of the year I've been here. In fact that's probably why it had to rain, some weather god suddenly realized they hadn't spent all the budget and tipped it down in a hurry sigh

Stopped now, and the roadworks outside have almost finished, and life is good. How's spring treating you down Under? cool
I was told it never snows here, too close to the sea, I've had snow 11 out of the 12 years here.confused
Emmy that's the EXACT OPPOSITE to my experience, I went to Scotland because I wanted snowy winters but was too near the Firth (I didn't know) and was lucky to get an inch of the good stuff most years! If I got 2 feet of snow in total over 15 years I'd be surprised.

So now I can drive up into the Sierra Nevada, say hello to the snow, turn round and drive home again. No digging or fuss or bother dancing

Yikes, Nam, that is one weather pattern I have never experienced, a full-on tornado, and I'm happy to keep it that way. SCARY stuff!
I like that you have established home is where you lay your hat, so to speak. I often speak to immigrants that struggle with their choice to move and I find that sad.

So... has your weather changed since typing this blog? Are things improving?
Abagail, we have a cold front moving in for a few days but otherwise, yup, the rain has gone yay

My parents were the type you will know too - people who moved to the southern hemisphere and have lived there well over half their lives and still refer to the UK as home confused So strange! Home is where I hang my hat. On a slightly battered art deco hallstand which has moved from SA to England to Scotland to Spain laugh I am something of a snail, I carry my favourites around with me and as soon as I'm unpacked, hello home

The decor in the current place is adding another layer of schizophrenia as I slowly start collecting Spanish stuff I fall in love with grin
I can only imagine your eclectic collection from your journeys. I have an Aunt and Uncle who have travelled extensively, even by today's standards and they have collections of things through their home. I am always fascinated by something in their home.

Whereas I am not that way... I do have a small bell I bought back from Spain. Nothing special... touristy, simply to remind me of the trip . And a rather lovely trivet that I picked up in a market. A friend of mine brought back as much as she could carry ( Well as much as her partner's case would let her stash as well) and I recall how devastated she was when we got to our last night's in Madrid and she discovered a plate had broken.

I like that snail visual... slowly moving from place to place but taking their shell and then rather like a Terry Pratchett book... adding a layer.
