It Ain't Paradise any longer

The most destructive fire in California's history has now claimed at least 9 lives.
However, at least 35 people are also missing.
Almost the entire town of Paradise California has been engulfed in flames.
The fire broke out rapidy, perhaps from electrical problems, and spread even more rapidly due
to the combination of 50 mph winds and very dry conditions.

Far too many early deaths. It is very sad.
If the population continues to increase and global warming continues upward,
leading to hotter & drier climates, it's likely to get worse over time.
I hope this vid isn't inappropriate on this blog, but you've got me into them Jim. Hopefully it demonstrates how the world views Trump and that we do not support his callousness.

Yea , blame it all on Trump if you all like , but take this from it , he is not responsible for vegetation control in these area's , locals need to eyeball their local government

Your ignorance is showing. doh

"While President Donald Trump tweeted Saturday that the spate of deadly wildfires across the state are due to "gross mismanagement of the forests," a USA TODAY Network review shows many of the worst fires in California have burned largely on federal land.

The largest blaze in state history, the 410,200-acre Ranch Fire, this past summer burned on large swaths of land managed by the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management in Mendocino and nearby counties north of San Francisco.

In fact, six of California's 16 most destructive wildfires in the past 25 years — in terms of structures destroyed — occurred on federal lands, according to Cal Fire records.

In Shasta County, last summer's 229,650-acre Carr Fire started on National Park Service lands before spreading to private property and eventually into the city of Redding."

Do you expect Trump to turn around 40 years of forest mismanagement in 2 Ooby .
e has a point o.
I don't expect Trump to improve ANYTHING even if he was given 20 years. thumbs down
I dunno, Jim, maybe his comb-over will have fallen out in 20 years time. dunno
Yeah, to be sold for firewood. doh laugh
As of today, 81 dead, 17,148 structures (houses, buildings, etc.) destroyed, more than 850 people still missing (possibly dead). The fire is still burning although 80$ contained.
@ooby , you are pretty good at pointing out what the problems are but useless at finding a solution . I suspect you and others are more interested in grandstanding on the deaths to link Trump to the fire to bother dealing with the risks .
‘No solution’ may not be ideal, but surely better than ideas that do more harm than good or that do nothing but cost money to the tax payers.
J - laugh It MIGHT be an improvement. But, like the old horror movie,
we don't know What Lies Beneath. wow We know not much brainpower.

K - thank you for that update. The numbers are certainly not good. sad flower

e - The solution is complex. We have enormous forests there. Wildfires are part of nature and have been for eons. We should not have people living in or so close to the woods. Perhaps underground bunkers should be built to allow those people caught in such a fire to escape being burned to death. That's somewhat similar to what some animals do.
Perhaps in order to meet construction code, homes in that area should be required to include an underground shelter capable of withstanding such a fire. It might create new business.
MV - Yes, certainly lies about how some other country with a totally different environment are not helpful.
You don't need to do anything more than remove flammable material from belt around urban areas , managing any other area's is a separate problem .
Climate change is real...

Denying this will only increase fires...raking is not the solution...laugh
Right you are LL. thumbs up
trump has photos of man setting a fire not a camp fire folks in calif.are waking up to burn the whites out 200 000 displaced n no state help,hm.anyone seen string man?
reb - I see nothing of this in ANY news. Are you confusing 2 stories ?
At least at this point, the "camp" fires were actually started by an electrical fire.
That's the only information I heard.
