I had a boss like that years ago and during my annual Performance Review which was about an hour of boredom, the boss at the end of the interview, in a gesture of magnanimous generosity asks, "What can I do to make your job easier?" I almost laughed because it sounded like a question that came out of a book titled "The Beginners Guide On How To Conduct a Performance Review"
My answer was "John, this company brought me in at great expense for my knowledge, skills and experience. A high rate of pay, including absorbing the cost of an interstate move and 2 months at a Holiday Inn while I looked for a house, Then you go out of your way, almost daily, to tell me how to do every little thing that I've been doing for over 10 years. You ask "What can I do to make your job easier?"
Let me do my job!
