I thought it would be a happy song...

I took the day off and relaxed at home with my wife. We ate some leftovers from the feast yesterday. I did some model helicopter flying in the morning, took a nap in the afternoon. Avoiding the shopping madness we got a few needed items at Aldi.

Back home and interacting on CS, I landed on Jim's blog about James Taylor... that took me into a YouTube journey. I showed my wife some videos from the 70's with James Taylor and fast forwarded to a bald aging man who no longer hits the high notes. Typical of most singers, they tune in a lower key as it's less strenuous on the vocal cords.

Clicking around to some other videos got me guitarist Tommy Emmanuel, who I've never seen before. He described his guitar made by Maton in Australia. The Maton website listed guitarists who play their instruments and Colin Hay was in the group.

If you don't know, Colin was the singer & guitarist for the 1980's Australian group Men At Work. He has a very unique voice and singing style dictated by his accent. Since their breakup he's performed many solo gigs and continues to write new songs. Colin's website calls him a master storyteller.

I came across one performance where he plays a mini-sized 12 string guitar that's pitched between a standard guitar and a mandolin. It has a great sound that goes perfect with his voice.

The song title is MAGGIE. I thought it would be a happy song... but I was wrong.

I found it heartfelt and it pulled me in. Some of the video comments say Maggie was someone he knew. Affected by this he also wrote "I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You"
