I right my green headed girl in starboard...

It's late, I need some sleep... I need to board the ship but I'm not sure which part is the front. Maybe you can help me. Surely someone knows about these things.

Bow front
Stern back
Port left when facing forward

Power gives way to sail
Easy war to remember Port and starboard and which is left/right red/green

Port is red wine so has a red light, port has four letters as does Left.
The bedroom is always in the bow......sleep
Be careful of sleep dep.....lol and the PLANK drinking
Oh you wrote this four hours ago, hope you are sleeping now.

Every time I've been on a ship, I can never remember port from stern. I can't seem to retain that.

It makes no difference.

When you retire it gets weirder, your thoughts.
Oh ps - I don't get the title of this blog. What flew over my head?
Fay, my father was in the Navy and they had a Mnemonic used to remember boat direction/orientation. At night, red & green navigational lights are used show the side of the ship. The same system is used on aircraft.

It was "I LEFT my RED-headed girl in PORT"
crest, as astern warning... stay away from the back of the boat! laugh
@ Chat~ - wave Around the world every nautical person learns different rhymes to remember.... my learning was to just ask yourself the question:

Is there any red port left...?

Simples..... grin
