It was a heavy lifting kind of day

500 kgs, or 1102.31 lbs, to be exact. That is how much I lobbed around today. Half a TONNE!

Let me explain!

You see, at my work, we got fresh produce and wrappings for the food. We needed to fit that into our walk in fridge, so some of the things already there, had to be moved. The thing in question was milk shake mix. One box weights 10 kilos. or around 22 lbs. On one dolly, there are around 250 kilos/551 lbs of milk shake mix, and we had two of those. I had to move both dollies to our second fridge, which is located in a shed outside.

I went to grab a pallet mover, but it was too wide. I then had to grab our second pallet mover, which had no problem moving the dollies. When I got to the second fridge, then the problem began. There was a small section of the floor which wasn't angled properly, so I had no way of getting the dollies into the fridge. So what did I have to do? Restack the dollies.

15 minutes later, my back was screaming "STOP IT!", while my arms were aching. I had just moved 1102 lbs of milk shake mix in 15 minutes. Now, I know that it isn't wise to rush those things, but I really just wanted it to be done, so I could go home.

So now I am sitting here a few hours later, completely exhausted. I am working tomorrow from 6 am to lunchtime, so I have to be up at 5 am :(. I hate morning shifts, since I am NOT a morning person - at all!

But yeah, I feel extremely worn out, but I know it will be gone by tomorrow. Luckily I don't have to move the shake mix again!

Listen carefully! You're 34 YO so you got youth on your side. That's good, but if you aren't accustomed to a lot of heavy lifting, try to take it slow to build up the muscles in your lower back, if possible. I'm sure your new boss doesn't want to lose you to a hospital bed with a herniated disc. Get yourself some IBUPROFEN, it's a mild anti inflammatory and pain reliever, use as directed and rest your back for a couple of days. The pain in your back is your body telling you something. I've had 2 spine surgeries so I know what I'm talking about. Once you get back to normal you may want to start doing some weight training to lose those "few extra pounds".
Im almost 60 abd shovel 4 tones of ice in 30 mins

Loading a hay bales on and off the trailer is an ordinary summer work for me.
For example, last summer I loaded 100 bales on a trailer in two hours. Each bale is no less than 20 kg. The temperature was 28 degrees.

I'm a farmer, I'm 49 years young and you make me laugh. laugh
Your killing yourself for a job that would replace and forget about you in a second if you were to die. Take care of yourself and your back, if it hurts, slow down, use proper technique for lifting and above all else, don't lift more than your capable of lifting safely, no matter what the boss says.
You don't know what hard yakka is
Mean't to add that you obviously haven't been taught how to activate your core nor been taught how to lift properly..That's why your in pain.
He may have a pre existing back condition that is causing the trouble. The weight mentioned is not a lot for a shift (I handled tons on top of tons of fish twice over back in the fishing days). If it is a back condition, he will have to be careful with everything so as to not really do a bad job on the back. The problem with back issues is that medical science is not that good yet at healing back issues unlike say a shoulder or knee.
Bloody awful can do 10 tonnes per hour
but on the crest of a wave
can shovel ice out at the rate of
10 tonnes in 30 minutes
which is a factorial of ×4

I watch the strong man at the end and
start of the year and they are very
good in relation to their own body mass but over 365 they would not move as many multiples of their own body weight.
