Become famous - upset people. It's so today.

There’s a post on FB doing the rounds – the average Brit pensioner gets £79 a week, the average asylum seeker gets £350 a week, a free car, luxury housing, etc etc, share if you think this is a disgrace.

The FB friend who shared it is raging very mad and so are the other comments. It is, of course, a joke – or so the original poster would claim. No intention to spread false information, no no no. I posted a copy-paste from the UK govt website showing exactly what allowances an asylum seeker can claim (around 10% of the amount quoted), and also the current full state pension (more than double the figure quoted). The angry comments have stopped but I’m the party-pooper. People want to be angry. We live in a world where people want to be lied to, they love to be outraged.

The current potus is, by modern standards, the most successful in history. Whether people are fawning, mocking, or gobbling like turkeys with rage, he fulfils the modern need to a T. Everyone has heard of him, everyone has an opinion, and every other politician in the world seems to be acting out in the hope of getting as much attention. Never mind the quality, feel the width.

Get with the beat, Baggy. I may be gone a while, I am trying to work out my best way of cashing in on now that I have finally worked out how it's done

I love to be lied to...especially by my Arty....smitten
Whilst I see what you're getting at & yes these FB posts are normally fake news, but I feel you've gone too far the other way, the cash asylum seekers get is just the tip of the iceberg, they're normally housed in private rented accommodation with many other expenses paid for by the tax payer, the only case where I know for sure how much it costs was the family of 5 who demanded a bigger a (4 bedrooms) house, they are costing us £90k a year, a far cry from your quoted £35 a week doh
People love to manipulate information to suit their own narrative or biases regardless the truth or actual fact, Good lord, we see it on here ad infinitum.
Hi E,
Personally I don't think people WANT to be angry, rather they expect their own Gov to rather do more for THEM as citizens than the 'asylum seeker' or whatever they choose to be called. As I commented on Z's blog, folk are getting fed up with. JMO.

Luke agree with you.

Not fake news, conversing prisoners get cheaper phone calls than people in hospital. :confused

Governments are dumb just after fame and FREE calls frustrated
Biff. Just my huckleberry. Where do I sign up-?--ooops, never became a FB lemming.
Mimi - tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies? laugh
For my Arty love

Here's that copy-paste (I haven't included the maternity extras but they work out at about £3 a week)

Housing
You’ll be given somewhere to live if you need it. This could be in a flat, house, hostel or bed and breakfast.
You can’t choose where you live. It’s unlikely you’ll get to live in London or south-east England.
Cash support
You’ll get £37.75 for each person in your household. This will help you pay for things you need like food, clothing and toiletries.
Your allowance will be loaded onto a debit card (ASPEN card) each week. You’ll be able to use the card to get cash from a cash machine.
If you’ve been refused asylum you’ll be given:
somewhere to live
£35.39 per person on a payment card for food, clothing and toiletries
You won’t be given:
the payment card if you don’t take the offer of somewhere to live
any money
Extra money for mothers and young children

I completely agree it's annoying that someone who has been refused asylum still gets money! mumbling
rolling on the floor laughing LOTS of lie please Arty
Good morning Elle. Whether your report is correct or not for us here in the US, it is for a fact very ridiculous. Just like Z said, our sanctuary cities gets so much budget way over and above the budget that is given to the welfare recipients by monthly figures. They have free housing, free food, free cars and free healthcare. Now they are not asylum seekers per se, these are the people that are brought in by the religious group in their rescue program which is encouraged and financed by the Saudi Arabian government. Here is the thing, they finance and arrange for them to come here by plane loads, at least from Somalia alone there is three plane a day that is filled with these people. The thing is, as soon as they land in my country, then we pick up the tabs of their expenses, the tax payers money. Now check this out, the religious organizations that did all the operations from beginning to end would cash in an awful lot of money both from the Saudi Arabian governments and or other parties that are interested to cash in with the Sanctuary money budget. Of course, as you have already been aware, Trump has stopped this sanctuary bs.

Now if your point on this blog is to create fake news for the purpose of getting attention, then of course, outrage and retaliation is the best way to do that.

You commented on one of the blogs that people don't like good news for the same purpose. I beg to disagree. I love good news, the only thing about it is that we can just smile and be joyful about it and that is the end of the story. On the other side, being bad and outraged, then we try to attempt to find a solution of whatever that is bad and it takes a lot of bickering and or insane opinion blabbing.

So there you go. Fake or not on your post about these numbers, that is the fact in my country and of course, why not, it is a discrepancy issue between who is going to be given better care, our own people or those strangers that are from all over the world.

Check this out, if in fact two thirds of the world need all to be seeking asylum, guess what, the second and first world will soon all be flattened out to be just that.
Z, you probably won't be thrilled to learn that certain bloggers are now actually paid by CS to write blogs? Unless of course you're one of them uh oh

This is a last-ditch attempt to stem the death of the blogs and is based on how often each blog is read, and the number of different people commenting, as many of the CS-killing blogs are supported by only a tiny non-representational handful of members

No that was a complete lie (I'm practicing) but did you say WHA? before you got to this point? laugh
I am going to drop my grand son to school so I can't be here to respond to you but I will be back as this is a very sensitive and outrageous issue for me.wave

Good morning Z and everyone.
TR one of the endless fascinations of CS is that it is a microcosm of life in general. No one is so off-beat they don't represent a whole section of society ...uh oh
I just went to FB, the 1st thing I saw

this woman showing different kind of snake bites

she is the guinea, I recommended her for an Oscar
Red - don't know what to say to you except that people in hospital not often there for years on end. But yes, a lot of unfair stuff goes on. Life isn't fair.

Doesn't - ever - mean it is right to make up fake stories.
LJ, my comment on TR's blog about positivity was ironic, I also like good news, it just isn't news or interesting so far as the media is concerned.

I saw a very clever and well-done video posted by a SF writer forecasting events in 2030, 2040 and 2050 with fantastic gains in surgery and intergalactic travel but believe me some bits would have depressed you very much indeed, especially the mock-ups of 2 to 3 billion refugees on the move as global climate change and natural disasters make whole areas incapable of sustaining their populations. But that's by the by.

The point of my blog is not whether we offer aid or not. It is that people are making up fake news to inflame and upset readers about the amount of aid we offer at the cost of our own citizens.

It's so effective that the actual lies which annoyed me so much are completely immaterial and this is now a blog about offering aid at all.

sigh
Methuzelah good grief I hope she gets paid good money for that! wow
Biff, ---normal, sensible, ----people I've known in real life. Could use a whole lot more of any of that.
Biff, ---normal, sensible, ----people I've known in real life. Could use a whole lot more of any of that.
Vier, 'normal, sensible' - well, that might be putting it a bit high laugh but I did mean people I know, not strangers.

I imagine she'll block me soon, or unfriend me, because I just don't play, the last whacky story she re-posted was a 30-second-check on Snopes to debunk so I just keep spoiling the fun. sigh
I get what you're saying, Biff, and completely agree with you. You hear that kind of misinformation all the time from certain people, they just can't help spreading it, even when their common sense tells them it can't be right.
There must be something they see in real life that leads them to believe this could be true.professor
that's why I always double check stuff to make sure its real before I repost it....I guess they do just like to find reasons to be angry and to see others be angry.....wave
"Z, you probably won't be thrilled to learn that certain bloggers are now actually paid by CS to write blogs? Unless of course you're one of them"

Thank you for the laugh, I knew you were deliberately deviating from the truth, but was hoping you wouldn't come clean so quickly. Spoil sport! mumbling laugh
Do you know how one would go about applying for a job?
No idea Harbal, perhaps the a-listers would know dunno
Biff, if people didn't have others less-fortunate than themselves, and therefore less able to defend themselves against untruths, then who would they have to blame for their own miserable existence?
The mega-rich? scold
Themselves? scold
Gotta catch'em all! wave
