Plastic shame

A wrote a blog a while ago about the world wide problem of plastic waste...
And although it is something we can do something about by simple measures it received very few comments .

I put this down to total empathy by the blogging community, the fact that it didn't contain TRUMP in the title, or more likely my unpopulatity as a blogger

Anyway here is an update

China has stopped buying number 3-7 plastic

Turning a profitable export earner for the NZ goverment (Before the market collapsed New Zealand was earning about $26 million by selling waste and recyclables to China.)into another environmental
problem...

Nz goverment solution

Put it into our landfills

In other words hide it and maintain our clean green image at all costs
Hi Crestofawavewave

Why can"t we go back to glass? applause
Hemp is a viable alternative and its both biodegradable and recyclable....wave

Interesting article yet makes no claim to biological time frame of hemp plastic
Would be interesting to know if you can smoke it...
I don't know but since it comes from a plant I don't think it would take long to degrade....and no...hemp is made from a totally different part of the plant....tongue
Hemp ...from my learning is made from The Flax plant we had a lot of Flax in NZ when i was growing up .. hemp sacks for grain and sugar were originally used then.. incidentally ..... an article on FB i noted this morning relates to Bacteria they have isolated that destroys PET plastic... that is like the plastic water bottles sold.... it destroys plastic in about 6 weeks to a powder form ..which then can be buried ... maybe this will be a better answer... i am sure there will be an antibiotic they will be able to use to reduce the bacteria content ... worth following up though .. !!....wave
Quarter horse Mrs google offers this....

"First off, let’s be clear?—?Cannabis, Hemp and Marijuana are not the same thing.

Cannabis is a family of plants with two primary classifications?—?Indica and Sativa. While marijuana can be considered a member of either the Indica or Sativa families, Hemp is a member of the Cannabis Sativa family.

Because Hemp and Marijuana both derive from the Cannabis Sativa family, they do share certain similarities; however, due to each plant’s biological structure, they have several very distinct and crucial differences."
Here in UK some young students experiment how to manage all plastics. Brilliant I say some they melt and other processes and it's used to roll out on roads. Trouble being the big boys trying to buy the patent blues . Still we can all do our bit too, do not buy stuff wrapped in plastic were we can, the message to supermarkets will get across to falling sales.
An flax is not hemp either rolling on the floor laughing frustrated rolling on the floor laughing
Good living plant for sifting out the not so clean Human liquid too peace

Here is one of the worst countries in Europe for dumping plastic everywhere.
The sea is full of plastic bags and bottles.very mad

I do my bit as far as recycling is concerned ....and also try to make people aware but...sigh
OB, there is a massive waste of plastic found floating on some oceans of the world. I remember when theDoctor poster from Tasmania posted it on a blog and I participated in it.
Antigua is kept by developed Countries as a developing country.....perhaps they are right, as it looks like we have develop in many cases already ahead of developed Countries.....already 2 years ago the Government made a law, where plastic bags are not allowed to be used in shops and supermarkets....everybody has to have an own bag with them when chopping, or buy a paper bag from the shops......also the Government are building up solar panels around on the Island, even the Airport are are filled with solar panels.....new hotels are filled with solar panels and if you if you put up solar panels on your property, the Government buy what is over from you......so if we can have wrong opinions about people, when we don't know them enough, we can also have wrong opinion of Countries, when we don't know of them enough......but we are not safe from the outside affection, so at say the the developed societies, who have money to fill oceans with expensive boats, but trow over board all the waste they make......I have a 500 m long shore in front of my land and every 2-5 meter, you can find stuff and mostly something plastic, that have landed by high water.....and my Son told me just 2 weeks ago, that our bay, that was earlier clean clear water are already filled with a shadow of grey stuff, simple said polluted doh doh doh
Today I bought a new battery for my camera

Battery - plastic

Came In delivery bag - plastic

With A4 invoice and reciept/warentee stuck on a clear plastic window

In a cardboard box

Inside box

Another smaller box

Battery itself sealed in shrink-wrap plastic...

Total cost to me $18 nz

Cost to mother nature? ??
I've almost eliminated plastic I never drink fizzy drinks so no plastic bottles apart from cleaning stuff sprays .....could they be refilled from a glass bottle that could be recycled.......we all can take responsibility but it's up to government to make real change but they don't because they don't care leaders today are mostly narcisstic don't care about the environment . Vegetarianism will also help the environment as producing beef and cattle adds methane and is an uneconomic use of land and red meat causes cancer not to mention cruelty of modern intensive farming Try not buying denim as one pair of jeans creates huge pollution uses vast ammount of water .... fashion is a major contributor to polluting rivers esp in countries like Indonesia .
This blog is plastic and so is the authordrinking
Do you mean like a prostitues help?
I think in recycling plastic in the long term may have health impacts/ Ive noticed with the plastic product over the last few years. There is some improfections due to plastic on products. As far as glass it is a better grade although it cost more to make. Maybe due to heat involved to recycle. Plastic is everywhere.barf
